My wife and I just installed an idoing headunit in our 2018 Outback with eyesight, I don't think we have Harmon Kardon system, though old unit does have Harmon on the tag. I watched this video and others before we purchased and today multiple times. Installed ours, a few wires don’t connect, and a few ports on the new don't have connections/wires. Got everything set, and touch screen didn't work, Ebrake won't come off, auto trans won't come out of park. Under the old headunit are two boxes, for eyesight and something. Took them off old headunit, got them in new, plugged in and stuffed in. Ebrake now ok, eyesight on, blinkers, hazard etc work. No touch screen, but my phone could connect usb and Bluetooth. Another video suggested taking a pin and poking it in the rst hole upper left. That did it, all working great. Wife's iphone, my android Bluetooth connect, sound is great, waze works, phone, all seems good. Thx subie fam!

Appreciate your enthusiasm, and the removal was helpful. But this video is a little misleading in the ease of installation. For anyone installing an Idoing head unit I suggest you check out Boost and Shutter’s video. He goes through what each of the cables do, and which you can leave out. His part 2 video walks through the features and how to program it (eg setting the steering wheel controls). Also, be sure you push the wires into the connectors when you attach them. Some features on mine didn’t work until I pulled it back out and pushed the wires in, then all was good. Finally, if your window controls don’t work when you’re done, roll them all the way down, hold the button 5 seconds, then all the way up to reset the window control.

Is there anything that does NOT work like the factory head unit (steering controls, backup cam, or anything that you’ve noticed)?

Do you still have this unit?i have a few questions! 1)can you still view the menu for the Maintenance? 2)did you have to use a step down for the factory camera since in uses 6volts? Thank you!!!

I have to repeat many of the questions below. It’s been a year. How is it doing? Do you need an adaptor for the existing backup camera? Does this support starlink?(the 3.6L comes with the ability).

Why don't the built in USB ports work? Why did you have to run an external USB port? Is there a work around to keep the built in ports working? Great video!

That’s a nice update Question ? I have a 2015 legacy limited. Seems like outback and legacy have same features. I was thinking about updating my infotainment. My friend suggested to get a 2018 Legacy infotainment. Should I do that or get an aftermarket or the same one that you’re using on this video ? Would it fit a 2015 legacy limited? What do you suggest?

Just a few questions, I bought one that looked similar but after install I noticed a few things that made me get rid of it. 1. The audio quality got worse, I couldn’t turn up as loud without distortion (does he have Harmon/Kardon speakers that come in the higher trims?) 2. After about a day the car started running very rough and got to a point we’re it wouldn’t start and as soon as I pulled the aftermarket out it was fine. 3. Do you find the wireless CarPlay to be inconsistent?(mine would have a hard time connecting sometimes and got annoying) 4. Did it keep the steering wheel controls 5.did you have to use the RCA cables that were included?(red and yellow for the speakers)

I just bought this for my 2015 Outback. Did I need it? No. Will it make my drives and phone connection better and less stressful? I sure hope so!

I noticed at the end you were fitting the head unit in by itself then it jumped to where you were fitting the unit with the vents and controls attached. Could you not fit them separately? Do you have to take any brackets or similar from the old unit?

Everything works great on my outback, but I have no clue how to connect audio. I know its plug and play but with what am I supposed to connect audio to, the harness with the audio jacks have nothing to plug into them.

Hola, great video, you to make it so simple to do , I had 3 estimate to install and it was from 250/275/650 the highest price one included install of front parking cam and mic installed. 2 of the installers said that my buttons on my steering wheel would not work that I had to buy a steering wheel module or component for it to work is that true? And is it really that simple to install like in your video? 1:09

How are the instructions? Looks like a whole lot of connections / wires. I was looking at Crutchfield but might go this route as I like the looks better. Hope it is good quality. How is it holding up?

Hi, do you have to specify them what kind of stereo system you have? I don't think mine came in with upgraded sound system because i don't have the Harman Kardon logo.

Will this work on a 2019 outback? I’ve been looking to replace mine. I looked at the website and didn’t see any for 2019

Does this work with the OEM microphone or did you have to add a new Mic? Also did you have to add a voltage step-down for the OEM backup camera or could you plug it in directly. The OEM cams usually take 6v, but the head units often put out 10v and it can overheat the camera.

Will this apple car play work for a 2017 Legacy? I can’t seem to find any videos on that? Your dash looks similar to mine if not identical

i had and idoing head unit , paid 450$and it lasted 1.5 years.. I couldnt have the volume any higher than 17, or it peaks amd distorts crazy. and half the time it doesnt connects to my phone . i put back in my original unit and currently looking a joying unit

once installed the head unit i was exploring/messing around and i don't know what button i pushed on the screen but in the pandora screen it no longer shows the picture of the album just shows the song name and singer , does anyone know how to get the picture of the album cover back on the screen.
