Didn't realize Milwaukee was expanding their transit network. Enjoyed using the streetcar back in 2021 to explore downtown for a day trip. But yeah, this "BRT" sounds a lot like the RapidRide 215 in San Diego with decent stations and bus lanes that disappear and reappear. At least ours has an appropriate name lol

Madison's BRT should open sometime next year. It'll have some stations in the median and is supposed to have signal priority

love milwaukee but i live in sheboygan, and the only accessible way for me to get down there via bus is take the indian trails (Michigan bus service) at 6:30am.. and when i need to come back home, take it at 7:45pm ... (great for a day trip to MKE or a two day trip to Chicago) However it's always tempting to ride it up north to Escanba (possibly a "trip report") and continue to Michigan.. or just go right back home......

There's a limited stop pattern and a local stop pattern, but I feel like what commuters really need is a local stop pattern and then a sectioned express. Local stops in West Allis so commuters don't have to walk as far, but then limited stops in Milwaukee to speed trips to downtown. This is kind of a monocentric service design, so maybe I'm being biased by Philly and NYC.

Surprisingly similar to Austin's "BRT" really just nicer stations further apart, supposed to have its own electric buses but often doesn't.

Just seems like a mid-frequency bus line with fancier stops and off-board fare collection and all-door boarding. Lots of BRT creep in this project unfortunately.

You should have mentioned the transit center on the lake that will be a transfer point for the BRT and Streetcar, although as a transit center it wont be that beneficial it still will provide a great gateway to the lakefront and for tourism

once the Couture transit center is finished I really hope the streetcar and BRT get a second wind and become more successful, Vel Philips plaza will also create a welcomed downtown plaza with a BRT station and planed space for a streetcar turn around to extend the streetcar up to the shops of Wisconsin Ave and not all the way to the Deer District Stadium since funding has been a real issue. The plaza is more of a way to catalyze development but fixed amenities are always welcomed at transit stops and will help anchor the BRT a little more @@karatransitfur

The connect 1 is supposed to have transit signal priority and MCTS has said it already has been implemented along the route but in my personal experience I have not seen any transit priority signals throughout the route so I don’t know what’s up with that.

Transit signal priority would definitely help it feel more like a BRT!

Transit signal priority unfortunately doesn't really do a lot. Preemption is what's needed but few cities are willing to accommodate their transit lines with it

Can you really say this was a Wisconsin video when you didn't have any cheese during the video? 😂Wauwatosa is named after a Potawatomi Chief, and it is the Potawatomi word for firefly. That park and ride definitely is...a park and ride, alright! And yeah, it's not BRT for sure but it's something, and of course expansion is always exciting! Kudos to them for giving the info in both English and Spanish at the bus stops. More systems should have bilingual announcements! That way it's making the system accessible for even more people!
