"Wish You Were Here" was the title track from Pink Floyd's ninth studio album, Wish You Were Here, which was released in the fall of 1975. The record explores themes of absence, the music business and former band-mate Syd Barrett's mental decline. The album was recorded in numerous sessions at London's Abbey Road Studios. Although some of these sessions were problematic, it was lead writer Roger Waters' idea to split the centrepiece track "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" in two and join each half with three new compositions. "Shine On" was a tribute to Barrett, who, coincidentally, made an impromptu visit to the studio while it was being recorded. 24bit FLAC Lossless
The album's packaging, designed by Storm Thorgerson, featured an opaque black sleeve which hid the album artwork. Wish You Were Here was an instant success and record company EMI was unable to print enough copies to satisfy demand. Although it initially received mixed reviews, the album has since been acclaimed by critics and appears on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". Band members Richard Wright and David Gilmour have each declared Wish You Were Here their favourite Pink Floyd album.
It's been almost 2 years since I made my original video for this song, but although I liked some of the effects (they're baaaaaack! LOL!) I was never really very happy with it....too cluttered, and art from all the Pink Floyd albums (I was thinking of the band "wishing Syd was there" during all the albums they made subsequent to his departure from the band) was really too much. This one started out with about a third less effects as I was determined to keep it simple, but just like when I was making the first one and my first "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" epic video....I found myself working on upgrades for both songs at the same time (the songs are so close conceptually that it's very easy to mix them up).
I'm so excited about finishing up my long delayed vids for other Pink Floyd tracks and I didn't really plan on going back to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" before finishing those but it looks like that might happen after all since I ended up with so many extra effects from this video. Till the new ones come....take these updates for a spin! :-)
Thanks as always for watching!
Special thanks!:
Chevvy's amazing Syd drawings/paintings!
inwardscream.deviantart.com/
And of course, to everyone else who's contribution of art made it possible to create new art! THANKS!
[Lyrics]
So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell
Blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in a war
For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found?
The same old fears
Wish you were here

+plumstreetmusic Naw that's not Wanda John, she wanted more $$$ than I could afford, but this other one was pretty good....I thought her acting was very nice?! ;-) Yeah, that body art I love as well....and like I tend to do, I overuse the things I really love....like that gatefold art of the band from Meddle, man I've used that photo in every Floyd vid I've ever done I guess....I love the iconic images and of course that one is just perfect to play around with/mask up/and layer, etc.

+LibraSunRising777 It really was a beautiful video when it was really uncluttered before I started tinkering with it so much....seriously I need to lose a few odd effects (colored smoke, the effects with the vertical lines meeting in the middle, etc. and extend others....you know how it goes, you work at it and then at some point it's like "things are not right but you gotta go"! LOL!

Tell me about it, Jon! More times then not, by the time I perk a vid, I'll seldom go back to watch it through anymore! It gets in your head to re-do this or that and can drive you nuts! I just uncluttered one last night and still not done with it! For sure, mine are no where near the craftsmanship of yours, but any creation that we want to be the best it can be will deliver a challenge! It's fun though! Beats reading for me! :) At least I get to write the ending! lol :)

+LibraSunRising777 Yeah, it's funny to go back and watch something you made years ago and find things that you had forgotten all about....I really hate most of the early stuff I did, at least the result, sometimes there were some interesting concepts and I try to keep that thread during the updates when I get around to them. Really it's all about the heart that you put into the efforts D....and your heart and passion for the music is what makes them beautiful!

There's is nothing you have made that I cannot watch over and over and over. Hey Jon my friend. I'm still here...back from the dead again. I spent most of my life living to die, now I'm dying to live...and it's too late. If liver ascites returns, and it will, likely within a few days to maximum 2-3 months, I'll have 4-6 weeks from that time, 12 weeks at the outside. The damage is done...there is no more they can do except offer comfort and drainage to keep me painfree. The liver is completely finished, one kidney is at 20% while other is at 30%, blood is saturated with sepsis as are all tissues, suffered brain toxicity, and not one specialist can explain how I'm still alive. They estimate I had 45+ pounds of infected fluid in my abdomen. They took out 8 liters before the other 20 soaked into everything. Four months of semi-comatose existence...I have signed a DNR and do not accept life support in any form. I'm tired dude...really fucking exhausted. Be well man. Thanks for years of awesome entertainment and friendship. Your pal, Mike from Northern Ontario, Canada Grant me one request dude before I go back into the hospital.

Greetings my Northern Ontario brother from another! Wow man, sorry to hear you're going through such a rough patch, and I'm envisioning a comeback if it's right for one....but everything, especially our blink-of-the-eye existence on this material plain is temporary anyway. When you look at the scope of the deal were all tossed into, it's no wonder we're all fucked up once our innocence is lost. I've spent way more than my time contemplating the plan, and the one thing I'm absolutely certain of is that when we disconnect from this existence, this life becomes like a vague dream.....our spirit life is the waking (conscious) life and our physical existence is the dream of a summer's afternoon from a distant childhood. We pass back to the place we were before we got plugged into this physical world, and even though that place always seems to remain just slightly out of our comprehension while we are here......it think we're all going to remember where home is in the instant of our passing....and home is always a very special place. Sorry to get too far out into the weeds with my comment, but your comment (on this video in particular....i dedicated it to my brother who I lost when we were both in our early 20's) makes me think yet again of the nature of our existence. Keep your head up brother, keep the hope, and especially.....keep listening to lots of great music!!!

.....your comment brought these words to mind: Over Bridges of Sighs To rest my eyes in shades of green Under Dreaming Spires To Itchycoo Park, that's where I've been What did you do there? - I got high What did you feel there? - Well I cried But why the tears there? - I'll tell you why - yyyyy It's all too beautiful, It's all too beautiful It's all too beautiful, It's all too beautiful I feel inclined to blow my mind Get hung up, feed the ducks with a bun They all come out to groove about Be nice and have fun in the sun I'll tell you what I'll do - What will you do? I'd like to go there now with you You can miss out school - Won't that be cool Why go to learn the words of fools? What will we do there? - We'll get high What will we touch there? - We'll touch the sky But why the tears there? I'll tell you why It's all too beautiful, It's all too beautiful It's all too beautiful, It's all too beautiful I feel inclined to blow my mind Get hung up, feed the ducks with a bun They all come out to groove about Be nice and have fun in the sun It's all too beautiful, It's all too beautiful It's all too beautiful, It's all too beautiful

@@jennysweeth We are in this state of trials and tribulations because we DEMANDED to live this way. So God, being the 100% fair father he is, stepped aside when we decided to use his gift of free will for wrong. That's why we suffer and die, Jenny Sweet, because we demanded the right to live outside of his undeserved love and protection from Satan, the Father of the lie. I never blame Jehovah God for anything bad, Ever notice how people always question WHY did GOD allow this? And WHY does GOD give us sickness, or WHY did God take that wee child...all interesting questions and even fair at times, but...BUT, when's the last time you ever heard ANYONE ask...Gee, WHY doesn't SATAN take a break from hurting others and getting people to blame Jah??? I sure wish he'd take a break from being purely evil. Be well, Jenny and know that God will soon bring to ruin those ruining the earth. Read Romans Chapter 5: 1 - 5 and all of Pslams Chapter 37. В комфорт тусклых дней И в мир теней Убрёл от тягот в войне, Главным став в клетке своей? Жаль, не здесь, жаль мне, что ты не здесь. Do you mean the 24bit FLAC? If so it's a reference to a higher resolution than regular CD. Of course KZfaq compresses the audio anyway, but one day these might just be allowed to play in their full glory. The difference between 16-bit audio and 24-bit audio isn't just a matter of eight bits. ... With 16 bit audio, there are 65,536 possible levels. With every bit of greater resolution, the number of levels double. By the time we get to 24 bit, we actually have 16,777,216 levels.

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain. Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? Did you exchange A walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.
