I've drilled deep down into 3' wide oak stumps and a pound of tannerite with a heavy steel cover and blower the whole stump out the ground!

I never use a wedge, I personally use a Husqvarna 2800 splitting axe. If it gets stuck, I just whack it with my Roughneck maul!
