I was literally yelling at the screen when Vesemir was about to give Ciri the Trial of Grasses because within the lore of the show, they need Elder blood in order to create more Witchers and he wants more Witchers so badly that he'll risk killing THE ONLY SOURCE OF ELDER BLOOD IN THE WORLD. It's pure, nonsensical, horrible writing. Who knows if her blood would even be viable after the Trial as she'll be a mutant!?

I am so invested into the Witcher games and books I find it very difficult to judge Netflix Witcher series fairly. My mind already has so much experience of the lore and characters that I can't detach from when critiqueing a tv show based on them, especially when the show deviates so far from what I already know. Netflix Witcher has emphasised to me that I much prefer to experience a story through a video game or a book. I just find these mediums much more engaging and satisfying. Games especially make me feel more connected to the characters and the world. Books are able to add so much detail and insight into character motivations. Films and TV series seem to lack both the intense feeling of connection to the characters and level of detail in the story being told by the very nature of what they are and how you interact with them. Netflix Witcher hasnt really enhanced my enjoyment of the world of the Witcher, which is not a criticism of the show, more a personal preference of games and books versus tv in general.

Honestly I'm with you on this. For entertainment value I do enjoy the show, but I find myself being way more invested in the books for their depth and the games, as well

Making an adaptation doesn't mean that you are allowed to do whatever you want (best example: LOTR trilogy or first seasons of GoT). No. You can make changes where it's necessary but, overall, you have to stick to the main spirit of the story. They failed to do this in season 2. The only good example of creative adaptation in this season is episode 1 (despite of all changes they made). It brings proper mood, proper emotions and proper moral lesson. Why other episodes couldn't be like that? This first episode was first and last one where I actually felt something and wasn't bored. Every next episode was more ridiculous to me. But I can understand that this series was crafted for certain people's taste. I grew up on those books and those stories way before there were any games or any translations. What I was hoping to see was respect for source material and understanding it's background. Not another generic fantasy with oversimplyfied story and characters. At this point, I feel like making deals with Netflix is like making deals with the devil: it will promise you fame and money but instead, it will take your soul.

This is true, from a viewer standpoint I saw that she was definitely the one who wanted it. But she is young, inexperienced, and unaware of what the trial could do to her. Vesemir is the wise one who should have known to stop himself from going through with it before Geralt stopped him. I actually would have loved it if he would have stopped himself rather than Geralt being the one to do it.

I have mixed feelings about this season. I actually really enjoyed it as a show in itself, more so than season 1, as in it's own lore/universe. But I totally understand the disappointment of the book fans that simply can't separate things up, especially for people that expected a much more 1:1 faithful adaptation of "the first book of the saga." There are definitely so many memorable moments from the BoE that I really think should exist in the show & could be adapted properly, "even with the show own plots." For example, the "Dear Friend" letter! Geralt could have known that Yen is alive via Triss & he could/send write letter to help with Ciri's condition via Triss. OR... He wrote a letter to Mother Neneke about Ciri's condition then Mother Neneke informed him that Yen (who he knew alive from istredd) was taking refugee in her temple, then he write the "Dear Friend" letter to her. Basically, simple stuffs like this that could change the book fans perspectives (imo), while Showrunners also tried their own twists for the plots. In the end, I think the showrunners still have a big chance to get better on the next season & I hope this obvious divided reception by Witcher fans are taken well by them. For the good of this franchise. I am sure nobody really want Netflix to cancel Witcher.

Now as for my thoughts on Season 2 the best way I think I can frame it is by way of a comparison. I am a HUGE Resident Evil fan. I am also a fan of Horror/RPG FPS Style Games. So while I find Resident Evil Village to be a great stand alone Horror FPS I don't view it strictly as a RE Game because it missed the mark somewhat. I feel the same about season 2 of The Witcher. It's a quality and very entertaining fantasy mini series, some things missed the mark for me. SOME definitely not ALL. As I discussed in another thread, Episode 1 killed it and I actually really enjoyed the different take on that relationship. Major tug on the heart strings after the curse is broken and all sins finally revealed for Ciri & Geralt to turn their backs on our friend on his knees bloody in the snow. The sequence with Cahir running for his life with Yen also had me on the edge of my seat and I'm intrigued to discover his fate in season 3 after his failed deception at the end of this season. Don't try to lie to an all knowing emperor my man. I also really like how Triss was portrayed in season 2 helped by some top tier acting! In Blood of Elves Triss can come of as selfish and at times a bit of a bitch. She is shown in a much softer light in the show while not losing some of those touching moments with Ciri. On the other side of the coin the whole hut hut hut and bad ass witch wanting to possess Ciri left me a bit wtf? As in where did the writers pull this from? And it's not like it was the focus of a single episode, it became virtually the core theme for the season. I have several problems with this. I can not see Yen betraying Ciri (and hence) Geralt in this way. Everything about the development of her character to this point makes this not make sense. Further while Yen can be selfish and motivated by self-interest at times I don't believe the teachings and guidance of her mentor Tissaia de Vries would have allowed Yen to be selfish in the pursuit of her own personal desires to the point of "screw the whole f***ing world* Same deal with Vesemir. His willingness to put Ciri's life at risk despite his genuine fondness for her and love for Geralt didn't ring true for me. I won't go into a long debate about the death of Eskel other than to say why? His role in Blood of Elves is fairly minor but he is a much loved character from the games....why kill him off? Finally I was disappointed the whole sequence of the journey Geralt, Triss & Ciri make with Yarpen was completely omitted. This is my favourite chapter from Blood of Elves and I love Yarpen as a character. Besides some really touching moments between Yarpen and Ciri that start to lay the foundations of her moral and political beliefs regarding non-humans, for me this chapter basically makes the whole novel. That scene where Geralt kills the young elf to protect Ciri, showering the pristine white flower in Blood as well as being a major tear jerker, represents the major theme running through the whole of Blood of Elves. And after seeing that flower would that young elf woman still have struck Ciri down? For me biggest open question in the whole novel and epic moment. Instead this storyline is replaced with a sequence of the 2 sorcerressess and their elven captors. I get the reasoning so as to lay the foundations for what is to come with the hut hut hut storyline in future episodes. And poor Yarpen is reduced to a bit part right at the end of the season, where to be honest, he could have been left out of the scene/sequence and it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Good to hear other book readers had more-or-less the same reactions to this season. Definitely yelled at the screen a lot! haha. And what you said was accurate: about 20% from the actual book(s) and 80% made up by showrunners. I guess I'd say the best part were some of the monster fights and casting of a few characters. Vereena, Nennneka, and Vesemir casting and performances *Chef's kiss* Wonderful! Also, I think Ciri started to act more like book Ciri while they were at Nenneka's temple. I'll keep the negatives short (but there are a lot lol) -Why does Netflix hate Cahir? They keep doing him dirty! Eskel... you already touched on it but still... Yen losing her powers did not go where I hoped it would go. Yarpen and Triss roles changed for ___ reasons. And yeah, the whole "Baba Yaga" thing... I was on board for some of it because I thought I read she was supposed to be Gaunter O'Dimm in a different form, but I guess not. I can accept it as a Wild Hunt trick... but it was still more odd than good.

So before I share my initial thoughts (like Tracie I want to give it a third watch and let it marinate a bit before going into more of a "deep dive") on season 2 I would like to briefly mention 3 things - #1 @Miss Magitek Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your witcher related content you post. It is awesome to have someone as passionate about The Witcher universe as I am and I really enjoy your videos. #2 As Tracie mentioned creating any adaptation is hard work. You are never going to please all (or even the majority) of die hard fans of the original media as well as make your TV show appealing to brand new viewers who have never heard of The Witcher. The challenge facing the team creating the Netflix series is quite a unique one - you have two sources you are adapting from. The novels AND the video games ALREADY adapted from the novels but are arguably better known. Trying to please fans of the books, fans of the games, fans of both and viewers new to The Witcher universe but fans of fantasy is a hell of a tall order....one I would not envy anyone! #3 Unless I am mistaken (and Tracie or other community members please correct me if I am) unlike Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones I don't believe the developers of the Netflix series have ever said they intended one book to equate to one season. So for each season they are free to draw on any book from the saga as well as the 2 compilations of short stories. It was never said or inferred that Season 2 was to be a direct 1:1 adaptation of Blood of Elves

Loved your review of the show! I'll copy and paste my comments I made from another video. I explain why I was disappointed with the decisions of the show. Like you, I've read the books and played all 3 games. Before Season 1 began shooting and when they announced the cast, I knew something was off. I still gave it a chance because I wanted to see Sapkowski's work on screen. Well, season 1 made a wonderful decision by gutting the main plot points from the novels. I kept telling my friends and other Witcher fans "Netflix Witcher is shooting itself in the foot because the bigger plot elements later on are not going to land properly." The responses I got were "Don't worry, they'll fix it." or "They're going to explain it in the next season." So, I came into season 2 with very low expectations and.... boy let me tell you... I am beyond words on how Neflix Witcher went a off the rails. Majority of this season was no where close to the books. To all the fans who have never read the books, if you're enjoying the show, awesome! I hope you keep enjoying the series and encourage you to pick up the novels. To the same group of fans who are wondering or upset at the books and/or are asking along the lines of; "why aren't the book readers not happy?" or "Why can't they just enjoy it?" or "Wouldn't it be boring to see a story you already know?" etc. You have to understand. We came into this expecting what Netflix advertised, a show based on Sapkowski's novels. Interviews of Hissrich saying how much she wanted to stay true to the source material. Many book fans took her word for it until now. This season is nowhere close to the original books. We actually want to see are favorite characters and stories on screen. Ask any LOTR fan that read the books about how they feel about the films. Many of them, including myself will say that they're great films and a great adaptation. Why? Because the casting, the writing, the world and most importantly the meat of the story was there. Now was it a complete 1:1 adaptation? Of course not but the main story beats and the majority of the characters are there. We got to see it on the big screen and we still enjoy it after many viewings. Imagine if Peter Jackson decided to change Tolkien's works. Legolas dies, Boromir lives, Gandalf betrays and makes Frodo becomes fully possessed by the one ring and then duels it out with Aragon. Do see how an adaption is not an adaptation anymore? This how the Witcher Netflix is being handled. Is the Witcher Neflix original material better than or as good as Sapkowski's original works? Not a chance in Hell. I'll be very honest, it's not even half as good as the usual original story. If it's not broke, do not fix it.

Yeah, I'm totally fine with it not completely following Blood of Elves, because it's not the most exciting of books (even though it's personally my 2nd fave book in the series) If they wanted to add more action & monsters - I get it. Makes sense for TV. But I'm with you on that feeling of disappointment for other parts of the story that they gutted.

Deviations from the source material aside, Season 2 as its own show was stronger than Season 1. Yennefer and Vesemir putting Ciri in danger were some of the most jarring deviations in terms of characters. Voleth Meir's plot made the sorceresses less cool to me. If a sorceress is going to do terrible things, it should be by her own designs and for her own ambitions, not because she's manipulated by a demon known by name to the witchers.

I think the Voleth Meirs plot was overarching the show and took away so much from character motivations and it left so little time for a lot of the important characters and plotlines they clearly needed. So i m not a big fan of the voleth meir plotline at all, it also changed a lot of characters in a way i dont know how they want to come back from that.

After watching season 1 multiple times now, I feel like I enjoy it a lot better than my initial watch. I feel l was way more critical in my first watch-through and I was critical of some of the actor portrayals. For example, I was so angry about the dryads, but as time went on the dryads are fine and doesn't bother me as much. I've grown to have a special place in my heart for season 1, even though it's not a perfect portrayal and of course has room for improvement! Good video / initial thoughts! I'm glad to hear you're able to look at the show in a nuanced way, despite your love of the source material. Sorry for the following lengthy comment, I too feel very passionately about the Witcher, but I also feel safe sharing my thoughts here: I agree about Reddit and would add that large parts of Twitter and KZfaq comments are terrible and should be avoided as well. I've read the books, and I love them, but I'm not a book purist when it comes to adaptation in general. And in particular, I don't think Sapkowski's books are the greatest literary masterpieces of all time, nor do I think they're some kind of holy texts. I thought the first season of the show was pretty good (I was perhaps more excited for it than about it) and the second season was truly amazing. I think it's fair to disagree with some of the character and plot decisions the showrunner and writers made in adapting the Blood of Elves, but like you said yourself, Blood of Elves isn't necessarily an easy book to adapt. Not a whole lot happens in it in terms of action. It's a lot of character study. The show tried to balance that by giving people more to do, while also updating certain elements, such as reducing or altering love triangles, which can feel tired and played out. Choices like this inevitably also affect how the characters come off on screen vs. the page, and I think it's fair to say that the show characters, for the most part, are somewhat different from their book counterparts. Part of this is because the books have so much more space to delve into the moral complexity and psyche of the characters. Some of the things our hero characters do in the books are so horrible that, while I would love to see them adapted on screen, they would have to be dealt with an incredibly deft hand or the characters would come off as repulsive and the show as offensive in a way that would not be true to the spirit of the books. I think they played it safe with characters like Triss, and for what the show is, it works. This brings me to Yennefer and Vesemir, I agree that the changes made to the characters for most of the season make them different from how they are in the Blood of Elves and not necessarily in a good way *BUT* I also think by the end of season two they are the characters we love at the beginnin of Blood of Elves. It just takes them time to get there, and that's a result of the show wanting to create more action and drama for the second season than there is in the Blood of Elves. Like you said, Yennefer is a self-serving character, but also has a heart of gold, and the book version would never sacrifice Ciri. But she also doesn't go through with that in the show, even though the temptation is there because of the show's plot mechanics that differ from those in the Blood of Elves. Lauren has said season three will deviate less from the plot of the Time of Contempt than the first two seasons have from their respective material, and that it's her favorite book in the series. I don't really mind either way, as long as they stay true to the spirit of the books. Which brings me to a few points about adaptation that you skirted around in the video, so I'll cite myself from another comment I wrote about this show on KZfaq. It sounds to me like you fall somewhere in the middle of the range of views on adaptation I see online: "In the first place, people interpret books differently, so there's disagreement about what books are about, what some things mean or look like, etc. But beyond this there are clearly different approaches to what an adaptation should be in general. Personally, I don't mind if a film or TV adaptation of a novel takes liberties with a plot, because, yes, the dramaturgical requirements of those formats are so different from what literary narratives offer (which is also why novelists don't always make great screenwriters and vice versa), but also because the book already exists and if I want that exact plot I can just read the book. An adaptation is an artistic product of its own, not a mere carbon copy of an original. For me as an audience member it can be a way to experience something familiar but new. Almost like reading the book for the first time. Still, if I like the source material, I'd want the adaptation to be faithful to the spirit of the original, which can mean different things based on which story is being adapted. I want to see a faithful adaptation of the story of the book - what the book is about - not necessarily of the plot, i.e., the specific sequence of events. At the other end there are "book purists" who will complain about every change, no matter how minor, and these tend to be a very loud voice on the internet. But I think there are also a bunch of people somewhere in the middle, who want the same plot and aesthetics from the books and understand that some changes are necessary, but complain when too much of it is changed, and that's going to vary from person to person. You can never please everyone and screenwriters know this. In addition to all of this, I think it's good to remember that on the internet there are also people complaining about adaptations for reasons that are only superficially about the adaptations themselves."

As a stand-alone fantasy series, it is a solid six - there’s a lot of generic material (the only really original stuff coming from the source material and maybe the Baba Yaga storyline). However, as a Witcher series, I can’t even rate it. People shouldn’t require action every two seconds, and even if you deviate from the source material in an adaptation, you should keep the CORE storylines, themes and characters, none of which they kept. They’ve butchered basically every character for me, and themes (such as the morally grey world) is gone or done very shabbily. I just think it’s more of a badly done fanfiction of the Witcher, rather than an adaptation.

Its absolutely good and fun tv. I can recommend it to friends. However, its a very poor adaptation of the books. So I would not recommend anyone trying reading the books and following this at the same time. You need some level of brain reset in order to do that and not everyone is going to be capable. Myself.....I am likely not going to watch season 3. Its too much brain reset for me lol I see that it is fun but....I just know those characters being different and I cant.....I get very confused every 5 minutes lol This also as to do because I am someone who really needs to dissect the stories I love. So I have read the books maybe 3 times completely. Plus a couple more times for specific chapters or scenes....so its very incompatible to me. Why did I watch season 2 till the end??? Pretty much my braking line was Yen trying to sell Ciri for her powers. I have dissected all Yen´s chapters and sometimes even fight with other book readers to clean her image. And its absolutely despicable to me that here comes a new media taking her at face value and doing all kinds of crazy stuff with her. Sure, Yen can be very cold and very "I know it all". But that´s mainly because of her age and power. Plus, she is the product of Tissaia and Tissaia is ALL ABOUT LOOKS!!! Tissaia is obsessed by looking organized and in control (she even has OCD kind of behaviour). That´s pretty much just a face to show the world and hide their real emotional and dream like nature. Because what Yen and Tissaia really are is idealists. They dream and what to change the world into a better place. They both are seriously tired of all the political intrigues and almost try to shut their eyes to part of it. They almost try to go along like if nothing is happening around them and it will all be fixed. Which is eventually where they fail miserably and end up placing Ciri in grave danger. This is all so far removed from who they are in the series.....I just cant. To end on a positive note: I absolutely loved Freya and Henry together. I would absolutely love to see Freya do book Ciri. Or, if they want to do that and somehow manage to get to a point where they can make Witcher 3.....I would love to see Freya doing that. I would gladly pay money!!!! I would love to see her playing a more innocent, bratty Ciri. Granted, she is older and I would not expect her to act exactly like book Ciri. But something more in line with her emotional side. Book Ciri, much like Yen, is absolutely gung ho on emotions. Which often can and will get her in trouble. But she will just go. She is incapable of holding back. I get the vibe that series Ciri is more like a more cold calculating determined someone. She is no doubt determined like book Ciri. Just, to me, they are coming from different places. Book Ciri is just gung ho like crazy gung ho. Series Ciri is just determined Gung Ho. If it makes sense. As example, series Ciri sometimes runs away from stuff because its the smart thing to do. Book Ciri....well....lol.....she does not know the word caution very well lol I get the feeling book Ciri would try to fight even a Leshen lol However, let it be said again, I did enjoy Freya´s portrayal A LOT!!!! And I will always agree she had amazing chemistry with Henry. They work AWESOME together.

It is great to see a well balanced review. I love the books and the games, but Blood of Elves works very well as a book but not so much as a TV series, particularly a Netflix series where I think there would be a demand for spectacular action sequences. Also, Lauren Hissrich clearly sees Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer as joint and equal protagonists, and Yennefer is out of the picture for quite a chunk of the book, so something had to be created for her. A shout out for Anna Schafer as Triss, by the way. The poor women had little to do in series 1 but got a lot of stick for her hair colour, skin colour and age. I thought she was really good where she featured in series 2.

In my opinion, although this season strayed away from the books, I think it is a vast improvement from S1 and they did a pretty good job making it entertaining. They had a high budget this season and so they decided to go in the fantasy action route. I still think there were some inconsistencies in the way they adapted some things like the Voleth Meir part and Yennefer's power struggle, however, overall it was an entertaining season. Apart from the book fans, everyone else might rate it 8 or 9/10. As a book fan myself, I will rate it a 7/10.

Its important to note that the Yennefer in the books and the Yennefer in the show are different people. So when you say "that's not what Yennefer would do?", which Yennefer are you referring to? To me the Yennefer in the show would absolutely sacrifice a child ,she had no connection with at the time, to get her powers back. Let me remind you that she feels like those powers are what she deserves and are what makes her who she is, even though it doesn't satisfy her. It was only because Ciri was important to Geralt, that she had a change of heart. Otherwise I wouldn't see it out of character for show Yennefer to kill a child for her powers.

Actually valid point! I guess the same could be said about Vesemir of the show vs. Vesemir of the games/books having different motives

@@MissMagitek Yes, I agree. Show Vesemir seemed to have place the preservation and protection of the witchers above all else. When it came down to it he choose the witchers over Ciri. Firstly but risking Ciri's life with the Trail of Grasse application (which by the way risked killing his only source of elder blood, slight inconsistency that's besides the point). Secondly, in a more literal sense, by stabbing and attempting to kill Ciri when her actions led to the death of one of the nameless witchers. Both events told me show Vesemir is far removed from book Vesemir.

Come on Tracie, stop the PR talk. Just pretend it was worst thing ever even if you actually kind of enjoyed it and watched it all in one sitting. :P Do it for elitist cred. I kind of pointed out in my comments last season that we where unlikely to see the Ciri/Yen relationship develop like it does in the books because the show directors had already sort of pulled that relationship from the books but character swapped it to Yennefer/Tissaia. I agree with the crew from the Angry Joe review that I didn't care about any of the Fringilla/elf stuff and just want to skip through all of it to get back to better content. I also did enjoy the content with Triss at Kaer Morhen, maybe in part because the start of episode 4 made it seem like they were returning to the books a little. Triss coming, healing spells, trying to train Ciri, critiquing the witchers for not properly caring for a young woman (though I guess it was Yen who had stronger expectations for Ciri's behavior in the book). Overall this season clearly went way off the rails in terms of sticking to the source material. So far it seems anything that was a little off trajectory in season one is getting way worse as time goes on so it will be interesting to see if they are going to do anything to try to bend those lines back in . I agree that the book content is a little slow at this point in the story so I can understand them wanting to try to add a bunch of fights/suspense.

I loved this season, some of the decisions where not brilliant. But I think they have set up amazingly for time of contempt (which Lauren has said they are following alot closer) I love the show for what it is, I love the books and the games, I have just learned to love them all separately. Also thanks for the video ❤️

Thanks for the comment!! I do remember hearing that the time Time of Contempt arc will be more close to the book - which I really hope is true! Especially with Thanedd & all...I really hope they keep that in the series.

Lauren also said that they would not invent new plot lines and that they will adapt Blood of Elves faithfully and we can all see how that turned out. I don't understand how anyone can believe that woman at this point
@ElisabethOrchard

Aditionally to what Ciri Knockoff said (to which I agree) I do not see how they are supposed to manage to pull off the Thanedd coup properly, just as an example. How are they supposed to pull that one properly off with Yennefer being a wanted traitor? And that is only the top layer of that problem. My point is that the writing and several plot and character choices this season makes season 3 being faithful to Time of Contempt nigh to impossible.

it's always the way with these things, writters and show runners always want to make it theirs, rather than uses someone elses writing. that was the problem with the new star wars movies, everyone wanted to make thier star wars, not what the star wars fans/movie goers want. they threw out lucas' treatments, then after the first move R.J said, yeah i want to do my own thing and threw out all established ideas, then J.J came back and went thats not what i wanted to do, and started over. absolute mess. everyone wants to put their stamp on it, so they can take credit for it, rather than just doing what the viewers would want.

If you just watched Arcane like me and go into Witcher S2, its like going from a Aston Martin to a Prius. I appreciate what they are trying to do with the Prius, but I'd much rather drive the Aston TYVM. ;) I really hoped for much better. Its not a terrible show, but not great.

I very much enjoyed this season much more than the previous. Mostly due to the fact that I got more of that political intrigue then the previous season. Also regarding that last scene I didn't get the impression that was Emhyr's full court. I am definitely interested in what will come next. The only real compliant I have about the show is that some of the people hunting Ciri aren't really explained or even named.

I love season 1. But this one is not "Blood of elves". 😕 Yennefer story is bad. Very bad. It is not a Yennefer from the books. Henry Cavill was great this season. Freya Allan did a good job. But storytelling season 2 is terrible (( I was introduced to the books from the show. And I loved them. And actors did a good job.

I kinda disagree with your point about how much went into something, all that matters to me as a consumer is if the result is good or not. If you put a lot of work and the result is crap, it is crap period. I agree with you on episode 1 being probably the strongest one. The baba yaga story was blown up way to heavily and for me it is again the showrunner/writer thinking they are smarter and better than the source material. Which is always a mistake because people watch your show because of the source material, if you think you are smarter -> make your own show good luck. My first reaction after finishing the show was, basically: Meh, what did I watch? Not in a terrible way, but in a way why do I not remember most of this and why was it so meh. But I agree with your positive points I really loved Triss in Season 2. Spoilers: My biggest issue was that vesemir is a grumpy old guy, ready to kill Ciri, the most experienced alchemist, but deus ex yennefer (again) comes up with a potion? So she saves S1 and now also S2? Why? There is a room of old experienced professional curse lifters, but we need her again? I dont know maybe it pales a little in comparison to Arcane which I watched recently and I highly recommend to watch Arcana for an outstanding good show.

i think if you are new to the witcher and the lore you will very much enjoy the show that being said i think the pacing from both seasons has been awful and in my opinion its the actors that are holding the show together.. now a few things that really annoy me obviously vesemir arc is just bad why am i watching the witcher and not liking geralts mentor and father im so confused what they are doing. another thing this demon and monolith nonsense is frustrating they have the conjuction aleady so why add other things that make noo sense and then 3 pretty rubbish training montages and ciri can use her most powerful magic and move between worlds at the end of s2 umm wtf is going on here? so does this mean we gonna miss plots with her in the desert with the unicorn or they just gonna be totally watered down because ciri now is already able to control her power. im happy it has and will bring more fans to the witcher i just wish it was 60-70% adaptation and not fan fiction. There is a reason why everyone thinks ep 1 is the best andd thats because it was closet to the source material.

Season 2 is c***. I have not read the books, only played the third game. But I understand that the source material is great. So how the hell do they create such a shitty story and series? Did they choose a bunch of amateurs to write the script and make the video cuts? I don't think they are passionate about the material at all. Seemed like they just wanted to stitch together cool stuff and hope it works. But there is absolutely no depth in the series to any of the characters and their choices, especially the moral dilemmas. Even episode 1 was bad as f***. In the end, the monster was a monster and people got what they clearly deserved. There were no difficult decisions to be made. No interesting choices.

My initial reaction is they should stop calling this "adaptation of Blood of Elves" I don't get it why they completely ignored 60% of that book and made their own stuff as a main story. I don't mind changes/addons if they are good and work. I like lots of stuff they did add/change in season 1 Ironically, some of those changes would fit great with Blood of Elves...but they choose to ignore it. And the thing they replaced it is just bad and convoluted mess. Main story of this season is like a Witcher side quest only done in a really bad way. Lauren should step aside from writing, its not her forte.
