Ahh, The Ice Queen. One of the pioneers of Symphonic Metal. A degree in fashion design. She always has beautiful gowns. She has played with face paint also.

You really need to hear Within Temptation live to get the full experience. Their Black Symphony concert with full orchestra is absolute perfection! Especially "The Promise", "The Truth Beneath the Rose", and "Mother Earth" are amazing experiences.

The Silent Force is one of my favorite albums. Sharon den Adel is sheer perfection. I so love her duet of Somewhere with Anneke Van Giersberhen, from their Black Symphony. You really have to see it. I think I cry when I hear that song, everytime. I’m also pretty partial to Mother Earth, See Who I Am, Hand of Sorrow, and The Truth Beneath the Rose. Love this band so much, what an enjoyable reaction. Lots of love.

5:50 "this quality" of "putting a lot of air through your cords" is so characteristic of Sharon. She's as good at it as any of the best American country singers, and with the more powerful & dramatic symphonic instrumental form behind her I'm amazed she isn't better known in the US.

YAY I soooooo love this band and her beautiful singing. I was hooked up onto them when I heard their song "Ice Queen" while looking for Queen songs. They I believe came out a little before Evenasance. But Sharon was still at school at the time so they waited until she was finished. But yes the two bands sound very similar. You just gotta love those Dutch singers, from Floor to Sharon. 😢 sorry for having to use this emoji, but I don't seem to have the butterfly emoji in my list of emojis. But great reaction to this song and band.

Wow I was just checking out your Nightwish reactions the other day and now here you are reacting to my FAVORITE symphonic metal group! Some fun facts: -Within Temptation started the same year as Nightwish (1996) and was another one of the formational bands for the symphonic metal genre -Since you mentioned the similarities with Evanescence, you might like to know that Amy Lee and Sharon are friends and are touring together this fall! It’s called the Worlds Collide tour 😊 -Unlike most of the big female singers in this genre, Sharon has no classical training and is a self-taught singer -Tarja is featured on the Within Temptation song Paradise (What About Us?), and she and Sharon are best friends! Sharon has also performed with Floor Jansen, Anneke van Giersbergen, and Simone Simons Really hope you do more! This is from one of their early albums, The Silent Force, and there’s MUCH more to discover! They’re incredibly versatile with their sound and use their music to explore a lot of deep emotions along with social issues. For hearing Sharon’s incredible high notes, I’d recommend The Promise or her duet of Somewhere with Anneke. For probably the pinnacle of epic symphonic metal sound, it’s gotta be The Truth Beneath The Rose. And to see what they’re up to lately, their latest two releases are The Purge (where Sharon really digs into her lower range and it’s just *awesome*) and Entertain You. They also have a new song coming out on July 8th that will be called Don’t Pray For Me!

You're right about the Evanescence/Amy Lee vibes and i remember reading an interview with Sharon van den Adel (the singer here) where the like reporter/journalist mentioned that he had heard Amy Lee saying her biggest influence was Sharon.

What? Lol... I love Sharon and WT, but Amy Lee biggest influence is BJORK 😂😂 (I'm really curious to know where did you get that from). There was an interview years ago when Amy was asked about Within Temptation and she said she just heard one song of them... Don't get me wrong. I love the fact that they're friends now, they (Amy and Sharon) made a few interviews together, they rescheduled their tour to November 2022.

Sharon is amazing and do are the guys. Within Temptation are amazing. Hi Maggie. Within Temptation has been around as long as Nightwish. I really like Sharon's higher register. Her and her Partner Robert have 3 kids and they have been together more or less since high-school. He stays at home with the kids instead of playing with the band. They started Within Temptation ❤ together.

Song is beautiful no doubt about it, and Sharon Den Adel used to be my first queen (shhh don't tell anyone I don't want SuMetal get jealous 😅) I know this band almost by the same time I met Nightwish and they got so many good songs worth to watch such "Angels, Memories, Sinead, Faster, Dangerous, And We Run, Ice Queen, Mother Earth, Raise The Banner, Supernova, Paradise feat Tarja Turunen (1st Nightwish singer)" and many more. My favorites are "Covered by Roses" and "Holy Ground" but those don't have official MV and all the live version I heard don't have a really good sound, probably there are. I agree with the Evanescence - Bring Me To Life style, that's why I prefer other MV, regardless she looks gorgeous anyway. I heard she didn't went to music school or took lessons from vocal teachers, everything she learned was autodidact, love people naturally talented and hard working to master when practice what they love.❤️ Thanks for sharing this.🤘

I notice bands like :WithIn Temptation ,Epca, Nightwish use similar characteristics in the musical composition go to the next level. The use of Strings, Horns and Choral backing work together. I specifically notice the Horns coming down the scale as the sings is coming up at just the right moment in the song. 🦋

Yeah, us Europeans have known these bands since they were born, just about. And Evanescence was good yes, but in truth it was Amy and their band who somewhat brought this sound to American audience. Who knows, maybe Amy Lee saw bands like NW, Epica and Within Temptation back then and liked it. Decided to do same category songs. Idk, but I'm interested what these ladies in Nederlands have in their tap water. Simone, Floor and always so gorgeous Sharon, they all have such amazing voices, have sang for quite some time now, and yet Americans are listening very bad music from radio's.(many of them, some had known these bands from early 2000's or earlier). Well thx for the reaction. Can't remember what song you reacted earlier, but if Ice queen is a new song to you, check it out. Also Sharon did a song where Tarja Turunen was featured as well. Within Temptation has some absolutely incredible songs. Three that I sincerely hope you react to and give your opinion on are "Iron", "Paradise (What About Us?)", and "Mercy Mirror". If you react to those, please know in advance that Iron and Mercy Mirror do not have official music videos of their own, so if you react to them you'll have to just listen to the audio recordings themselves, or watch fan-made music videos.

Love your reaction. Within temtation is probably one of mye favorite bands, togetter with Paradise Lost. Please react to Paradise Lost with Darker thoughts. Strong voice. Also Sharen den Adel, Floor and Anneke von Giersbergen is the very strong Netherland metal-singers. So your missing Anneke :) (try her cover of Jest Oldu or the funny Wasted years)

I live her intense and powerful singing. Here Sharon's singing is somewhat similar to our Pakistani style. Your pretty detailed and expressive reaction, as usual. Is there any Pak metal band yet? I agree Sharon is very folk/country sounding and expressive like a lament to lullaby and this is not dissimilar to Persian, North Afghan & North Pakistan and Central Asian style.

I really enjoy Evanescence, but imho WIT is more versatile. Sharon is a national treasure of The Netherlands. My son introduced me to them before he passed away, and we certainly had common ground in our appreciation.

You mentioned how Within Temptation sounds like Evanescence. Given that Within Temptation started making albums six years before Evanescence, I would argue Evanescence sounds a lot like Within Temptation.

Actually no they both formed around the same time just a year apart Within Temptation 1996 and Evanescence 1995

So similar to Evanescence... *wrong*... Within Temptation has been around since 1996 😉 Black Symphony (live concert with full symphony orchestra and choir) is just awesome; check it out sometime 🎉

Recommendation: Killswitch Engage-The end of heartache(live). P.S. to me most live recordings suck. Sound quality is weird, and sometimes vocalists change the timing/words cause they are performing. Nothing wrong with that it's just personally, for me it's weird. But this one. Ho. Lee. Crap. Def recommend it. Just found your channel, gonna check some things out. From your reaction library you may have a new sub. We'll see though. 😏 ✌

Been watchin sum stuff n so far so good. 🙂 Btw, I've noticed sumthin that I'm not sure if ur aware of or not; and b 4 I say this, I also wanna say that this is not meant as n e kind of insult, and is just sumthin I noticed. ; sumtimes u sound like Mrs. Puff from SpongeBob. I grew up watching SpongeBob, n I love Mrs. Puff. It makes me smile every single time. 😁 idk if u've ever been told that or not. Or maybe it's just me idk.

Hi Maggie :) Sharon is a LOT better to me than Amy Lee. She has better tonal and breath control, making it easier to switch between lightness and full belting. Check out their song "The Howling".
