The thought of writing a devotional never crossed Jackie's mind, but the Lord changed that. In this episode, the Perrys highlight a few things that compete for our attention and take away from adequate time in God’s Word. Jackie's new devotional, Upon Waking, was created to help us all cultivate a daily habit of seeking the Lord before anything else.

Recently my 9 year old and I started reading a few scriptures every morning before school starting in Matthew. We discuss what the scriptures mean, how the effect our life and how to apply them to our lives. I give everyday examples & scenarios to ask her how she would respond & how God would want her to respond. Two weeks ago she memorized the Lord’s prayer and we broke down what each line meant. We also pray in the car on our way to drop her off in the morning to school. Hopefully the simple instructions God gave me inspires someone. Ask Him and direct your path😊❤️

Hello, I just want to suggest something to those with kids who are very busy (or if you are just struggling to make time for God). 1) My mom (she was a single parent to 4 kids) used to keep a bible in the bathroom. She would lock herself in the bathroom sometimes to get away from us and read the bible and pray. She had to be at work at 6am; so if she was running late, she would read the bible and talk to Jesus as she was getting ready. 2) Keep a bible in your car and pray in your car. I do this a lot (praying in the car), especially on long trips or when I have a busy day full of errands. If you have kids and you have to wait in a long pick up line at their school, or you're waiting for them to get out of practice, try to use that time to spend with God and study His word. 3) Get a crockpot; your kids/spouse will not die if they have to eat leftovers. When we complained about leftovers, my mom would say, 'feel free to cook for yourself' or 'there are people who are STARVING and would be grateful for what you complain about'. Sorry to be so long winded, God bless.

I agree 100%. God gives us the desires of our heart. He gives us what we should desire. I’ve had periods where I just wasn’t as passionate for the word for one reason or another. And when I asked God to give me a new desire and longing he did. But here’s the catch: you can’t wait for the desire to come before you start acting. People think desire will help develop the discipline but it’s reverse: DISCIPLINE DEVELOPS DESIRE. I started disciplining myself to read the word and then the desire came. You don’t have to feel like reading the word to do it. Sometimes I don’t feel like brushing my teeth at night but I do it so I won’t have cavities. I found that the more I prioritized reading the word, the more my desire/appetite grew for it.

I appreciate the way you two influence. I heard Jackie talk about waking up earlier to be with the Lord, trusting that God would give her the energy to make it thru the day. I used to either work out or be in the word before work and basketball practice (I am an insurance agent/basketball coach/mother of 3) so I thought I only had time for one…. but then you helped me realized that was a lack of faith. For the past 2 months or so I have been waking up 45 mins before my workout, and have been giving God my firsts. It has made all the difference! God is filling me with His promises and giving me the strength to make it thru the end of the day. Praise God for allowing you to influence me in this way

Grace is available for you to live a Godly life, having greater Godly habits! He gatchu sis, one step at a time♥️ 2nd Corinthians 12:9A "My Grace is sufficient for You, for My Power is made perfect in weakness." literally Preston's testimony from Minute 39:13 of the episode and Jackie too ofc as the episode moves on. Girl the one thing we're sure of is The Spirit, God is always victorious! So you gon win sis because He won for you already on the cross sis. The struggle is only for a little while, and God is willing to help you. He sees you, He hears you, He answers you more than you ask, think or even imagine. He loves you so much, to death and resurrection. Let Him in the struggle sis, He waits with you and delivers you and honors you! So much love in The Lord! Read Philippians 4:6 -7 and surrender your day "Upon Waking" before the day and it's distractions try to hit you. Let us know when you overcome, testify sis!!!

So, I’ve been working to be more still “upon wakening” and to open my Bible and talk to God before anything else. But, it’s so crazy because I woke up early this morning and felt like the Lord said, “it’s okay to open KZfaq. There’s a video there for you.” And boom- a whole video dedicated to the importance of seeking and spending time with Him first thing in the morning 😂

I Thank You Holy Spirit for having taught me all this right in the beginning of my walk with you. It's been almost 3 years and I've been mostly consistent with tithing my day by spending time with You first before I even touch my phone. And doing the same in reverse at night before I go to bed. During the day we speak and share thoughts. I love to speak, worship, pray and praise You in tongues throughout the day in fact that is my default language with You lately. It takes discipline and especially Your grace to always remember that You come first and last in my day. I could never be consistent in my walk without You. I love You Lord, You are my strength! #PraiseJesus ⚓♥️👑

It’s so interesting as it is something I started working on actively today as I have been thinking about it for a while. I have a kid , woke up at 5.30 am to take care of my baby . First thing I said when I stood up from : thank you lord for this day. I was only able to get the baby to sleep at 8am … was equally sleepy and knew if I picked up by bible it won’t be effective so I decided to work out … after that I was able to read bible meditate and pray ….. So all the mamas out there find your routine but know it will require changing your habits and praying for strength, will , discipline and consistency. As you go through your day , keep your goals in mind at all times it helps you not get lost in distractions.

This is so powerful you guys don't understand. I believe God is calling out to the churches. Revelation chapter 2. There is a urgency in the spirit for many who need to draw closer to God. Most of the time many of us get so easily distracted. I remember TD jakes saying something about the enemy would like nothing more than that you are so distracted, that you are merely just surviving. A lot of us are just getting through the day to day. Overwhelmed by so much. We fit God in, instead of centering Him. Some don't even take the time to read or pray during their day because the enemy is sending so many distractions. It's to keep us so bogged down we don't realize we are getting further and further away from our Source. We do choose to make time. We have to be deliberate about it because it truly is essential to our walk and relationship with God.

Thank you, Jesus for Jackie and Preston. Thank you, Jesus, for using them as vessels to do you kingdom work and speak to hearts such as mine. I could say so much ... the story of my life right now is absolutely absurd.... It makes absolutely no natural sense, yet at the same time I wake daily amazed at the way the Holy Spirit is moving. Jackie, I honor you for your boldness. Thank you kindly for being who you are and speaking TRUTH in Love. Your words are profound, and you are a vessel for girls that are like me. I am a communicator, a creative, intellectual, discerning, and very misunderstood. I love hard, my heart breaks for the poor, the weak, the marginalized, the cast out. At the same time, I am country and loud, and bold, and often feel like (still do) there isn't a place or space that I can be used. I listened to a Pod Cast that you did with Dr. Jackie, and you so practically broke down yourself and talked about how that is the way that Jesus created you, and that is part of how you are used. That is, YOU and the "lump of clay" that Jesus is molding. That was a word for me. Thank you, I am grateful. Jesus is so sweet and kind to me. He answers prayers, OFTEN times in ways that I would never expect. You are the business girlfriend. If you are ever in little, tiny Jacksonville, NORTH Carolina - please get up with me! ha-ha! My gosh - the laughs you would have in this little town.... however, the LIFE and SHIFT that is happening through the Church (JESUS in the STREETS) is unusual. I have no idea how I found you and your podcasts and all of your messages that I have been watching, but I also know it's no coincidence. I am here for it.... with plans to stay!

God is using you two so charmingly. Thank you for reminding us that God wants that gentle intimate time with us. There was sooooo many pearls of beautiful & essential truths that was shared that I will remember and prayerfully grow from. Thank you for being a instrument in God’s hand for these last days!!

I don’t think y’all truly understand how much these videos help. The authenticity really helps. And it’s so obvious y’all are led by spirit. It hits me where it needs to hit, at the right time.
