A follower sent me his vintage Seiko 6139 Silver Ghost to restore. This watch belonged to his father who sadly passed away 20 years ago. The watch stayed in a drawer and he sent it to me for its restoration. It is a great privilege to work on nice watches and that means so much for their owners. First of all: thank you for this beautiful video of a most instructive and thoughtful service of a really cool watch. Though I still feel that you could talk less, this is already much better! Most important, though, is that you did what many famous and well-renowned companies shy away from: service a watch that is worth servicing and spend some tender loving care on it. Kudos to you. It is really sad to see that most watch manufacturers will not service your old watches or that they will do it in a way that reduces the value of your vintage watch to almost 0. Rolex is a very bad example for the this - at horrendous costs. What is more, servicing a vintage watch has become very expensive anyway. Here in Switzerland, I was given an estimate of (€) CHF 1'410.85 to service a faultless and beautiful Tissot PR-516, which is absolutely crazy for a watch with just two added complications (automatic and date). You could never sell the watch at that price. This obviously means that you need to have a friend to service your watches. You seem to fit that profile, which is very nice.

Thank you so much for the nice comment. 1400€ to service a watch, this is crazy. It is the price from a big brand like Vacheron or AP would take to service your watch. My price are much lower to service a simple watch so I would be more than happy to help.

@@FrenchWatchCollector Thank you for your generous offer, but I had it serviced for CHF (€) 500, which is still a lot, but since I got the watch as a teenager in 1976, it was worth it. And since there are many more watches in my collection, I will certainly consider your offer in the future. Meanwhile, continue to present us with many more of your wonderful videos. All the best!

One tip for these - you don't need to lubricate the Viton rubber crystal gasket in Seikos.

I'm struggling to open the main spring barrel. Is there a trick to this. You make it look very easy.

You have to type of opening. The one on top and some open in half in the middle of the side wall. It it opens on the top just pressed on the side the and the top should come out. If its is opening on the middle you need to use a blade to open it up like a case back

@@FrenchWatchCollector You certainly made it look easy. I have one I'm struggling to open and I don't really see the logic of how pressing down on the sides when it's resting on a small anvil can make the top come out. Yet...I saw it with my own eyes on your video. I guess I'll just keep trying.

I recently Purchased one, and who every worked on it before didn't align the number bezel correctly and added Yellow chronograph hands. I plan on restoring the watch with original parts, but the moment seems to been worked on and re-oiled as its keeping time to the second day I wear it. So I make have gotten very lucky with a only a slightly botched cosmetic issues that I should be able to fix myself. just one question I have is who did you you remove the outer bezel ring ?

I have a sentimental Heuer Autavia Viceroy model I purchased in HS and it isn't working correctly. Two shops looked it over and said it's fine. It stops running after a few hours, either with the second hand running or not, either worn or on the watch winder...HELP!!

NOT TRUE the 7750 has at least 2 plastic parts (hour lock, and chrono seconds hand friction piece) so "SWISS" movements include the "CHEAP" plastic parts too.
