Rip King Edward. Missed so much. Had the pleasure myself seeing him in concert several times. Great showman. From the very first picture of him to last picture ever taken of him. Eddie always had a smile on his face. ❤. Eddie was self taught. No one could ever copy his style. Eddie never had to learn the guitar. The guitar had to learn Eddie ❤️❤️❤️

He was a very nice guy too unless you made him angry. He rarely went anywhere without a guitar and he`d go to clubs in cities, especially when he was hanging out around Shreveport with his wife`s family, and jam with and go hang out with local bands after the show. He did this with a band I was in but before I joined.

1978. Van Halen releases their first self titled album. Track one, Running With the Devil. Slight pause, then Eruption. Less than two minutes on the album, but every teenage boy on earth (I was 16) knew the world of rock had just changed. RIP, EVH!

Yep. I remember having the 8-track tape of their first album, and Boston, Molly Hatchet, Louisiana Leroux, and the Kansas album Monolith. Listen to How My Soul Cries Out For You from Monolith, or Stay Out Of Trouble, and I think People of the South Wind is on their too. We had a radio station that would play new albums with no interruption back then, but they wouldn`t name it until it was over. I got the second Van Halen album on cassette that way. In rural Louisiana back then it was very difficult to get music. The nearest city with records and tapes was over two hours round trip, so you had to either make copies or go to garage sales or trade and such. And of course rip off Columbia or BMG on one of their "buy one get 30 albums free" scams, and ruin your credit.

The technique that he was using, as you just saw, was the tapping technique. Now, he may not have invented it, but he perfected it, took it to another level. He was ahead of his time and he was a legend. And when comes to guitarists like Eddie Van Halen and his skill and talent, you have to stand in awe. *IN AWE!!* 🎸

Like a lot of people here, I got to see this live in 85. They actually came to Billings Montana!! And I was 14. I’m a huge ACDC FAN. But Van Halen has always been one of my ALL TIME favorite bands. Angus Young from ACDC is my favorite guitarist. Maybe because they had already stole my ROCK heart in 1980. After hearing BACK IN BLACK album I was forever hooked. But to SEE and HEAR Mr. Eddie Van Halen, live, in concert.. it changes your life. And even tho this is a 13 minute solo…the one I heard was much longer!! RIP EDDIE “ROCK GOD” VAN HALEN. You were light years ahead of your time, even if we heard you got the first time… TODAY!!

One of a kind and I don’t use that term lightly. If you haven’t already done so, I highly recommend Jimi Hendrix. You can’t lose with any video but his best studio track is “House Burning Down.” And keep in mind that it was recorded in 1967!!

Eddie never learned to read music and is completely self taught though he was taught the piano as a small child along with his older brother Alex the drummer in the band. The Eruption part was after he just? down from the upper part of the stage and after he threw the pick into the audience the second time. The part that sounded like it was a violin was what Eddie called "cathedral". And just think that he performed this while he was completely smashed drunk and he still killed it. Most people will agree that Eddie is the GOAT when it comes to the guitar. Guitar Magazine named Eddie "the GUITAR GOD!!!" And most people will agree. Watching Eddie in concert is hands down the greatest experience of my life. Even over the birth of my children. KING EDWARD VAN HALEN. You need to watch the video for their song "POUNDCAKE". Eddie plays his guitar with an electric drill in the beginning.😮😮😮😮 Eddie is, was and will always be the greatest guitarist that has ever lived. Their early stuff was wonderful too. "MEAN STREETS AND Anything from their first and second album.

big misconception about this performance was that he was drunk,this whole concert was filmed over 2 nights and even Ed admits he was given explicit instructions of NO drinking for the filming...Now every other time he played his solo he was trashed but not for this one...
@kevinmarshall854
@kevinmarshall854 5 ай бұрын
@@zenn5150gaming were you there? Well I was and he was most definitely drunk. After the concert we tried to get an autograph but his body guards refused to let us go to the back of the stage where the dressing rooms were. We ended up waiting out back by their vehicles that were going to take them to the hotel. We yelled out his name and Sammy name and some guy came out to where we were and told us that Eddie was really tired and he needed to get some sleep because they had to perform the next night. I just remember that he kept throwing his empty cups at a trash can and he kept missing it so we went back after the it security had left and we collected every single cup that looked like the cup that he had been drinking from and we kept them until he passed away and we all agreed that we were going to pass them down to our children and tell them the story of one of the greatest nights that any of us had ever experienced in our lives. I am 56 and my oldest son is 35 and I gave him my cups when he had his first child and he promised to give his to his son when he had his first child also. Every cup that we collected had been filled with either beer or had a mixed drink in it before it was a drank. Now I love Eddie and I think he is like "GOAT" when it comes to guitar players. PERIOD!!! I know that Eddie had battled his demons with alcohol and drugs but it never changed his desire for musical perfection when it came to the guitar. It was a very sad day when Eddie passed and music will never be the same ever again. I feel blessed to have lived in the days of listening to the new VAN HALEN album that we had been waiting/to come out! Try to remember that if you are not right there you can not be sure what you have heard is really the truth because people lie and yes even our favorite rock stars and actors. So please be careful when telling people something that you think is the truth about someone else l.

Edward Van Halen set a new benchmark for guitar playing when he debuted w/ Van Halen in 1978... He was a guitarist who played w/ feel; he couldn't quite explain what he was doing on guitar but knew it sounded great... Even though he was given lessons as a kid, he wasn't a student who could learn from his teachers... He played by ear and ended up w/ his own original sound as a teenager. This clip was shot in 1986 at the height of his skills and Van Halen's career. Instrumental clips have their own charm and can keep your attention if they are great... Check out a live clip of guitarist Joe Satriani playing 'Surfing with the alien' or 'Summer song' for example 🤘🤘 Another guitarist would be Yngwie J. Malmsteen playing his instrumental 'Black star'... 🔥🔥

Yeah, Eddie Van Halen was truly one of the greats. But there was another guitar player who is just as good as he was his name was Randy Rhoads. You should definitely one of these days check him out you will not be disappointed. he started out in a band called quiet riot, and then he became Ozzy Osbourne‘s guitar player appearing on Ozzy’s first two solo records, blizzard of Oz and diary of a madman. And then came his unfortunate untimely death in 1982 he was only 25 years old. React to Mr. Crowley after hours, 1981. The after hours footage is the best footage of Randy, which was shot where I was born in Rochester, New York. And he is one of my favorite guitar players. Like when I first discovered him I became obsessed with him. And he inspired me to want to be like him. He inspired me to pick up a guitar and learn how to play. And I’ve been playing guitar ever since I was 15. And you should also definitely check out some songs that he did on Ozzy Osbourne’s first two solo records, which are amazing by the way. But my personal favorite is the second album diary of a madman. There’s just borderline masterpieces on that record. I think you should also check out my favorite song on that record. It’s called believer killer song. It’s got a great guitar riff and Randy’s best guitar solo. It’s a short solo but it fucking rips.

Van Halen is a band you should check out. Straight outta Pasadena, California in the early 70's. A band that set the bar for all bands coming off the Sunset strip in the 1970's Southern California. In fact, Eddie's playing influenced a generation of young guitarists. P.S. You have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen in my life! Stunning!

Many GREAT guitarists in the 60's, 70's and 80's and Eddie was definitely one of them.
