Wizards of the Coast keeps shooting themselves in feet, this time hiring Pinkerton "detectives" to bully a KZfaqr for showcasing a pack of cards that he had legally bought from a seller. Wizards claim that it was copyright infringement and threatened to jail the guy for doing nothing wrong.

Pinkertons used to be pretty good, most of the worst criminals were caught by them when cops failed. And I am going to bet a decent bit of the accusations against them are overblown like they are against McCarthy, but they did hel ANTIFA murder a man in denver.

I recall a similar incident a few years back when Take Two sent hired goons to a KZfaqr's house for accidentally leaking Borderlands 3 footage. It's absolutely insane that this kind of nonsense is allowed to go on because people don't stand up and say "Are you cops? Do you have a warrant? No? Then get the hell off my property. I'm calling the actual cops and grabbing my gun".

Newer MTG product is sent out in brown boxes with almost no indicator of what's inside, and to make it worse both the regular and aftermath sets have almost similar packaging, so even if you open it up, unless you're up to date on MTG products, you wouldn't know what you had.

If the distributor conducted a transaction where they took payment for the cards, how is that any different than any other vendor delivering an order? And how does that undermine the original point to begin with? I buy and sell these cardboard rectangles as a primary source of income, I've been watching this like a hawk since the day it happened and I've been waiting to see if a suit gets filed, because all of the customer facing information from WotC would suggest that it's all legit.... until they hired the fucking pinkertons to shake the guy down.

If you feel like discussing this topic further and would like some insight you should look into talking with “the professor” of “Tolarian community college” if you want more information about how this product was the first of it’s kind in trying to get players to pay more for less (same price for 5 cards instead of 15 cards per pack)
