Wizards and Warriors Channel sci-fi animated documentary video series on the Star Wars galaxy lore will continue with the second episode on the Galactic Civil War, as in the aftermath of the battle of Scarif ( • Battle of Scarif - Gal... ) the rebel alliance got its hand on the Death Star plans uncovering its weakness. After of the destruction of Alderaan, Princess Leia Organa assisted by Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO brought it to the alliance leadership with Darth Vader, Wilhuff Tarkin and the Death Star in pursuit, which led to the famous battle of Yavin ( • Battle of Yavin - Gala... ). The victory at Yavin allowed the Rebels to find new allies in Mon Calamari and their Mercantile fleet helped them create their fleet. However, the empire was still hunting the Rebels, which led to the battles of Vrogas Vas and Mako-to, where the Empire regained ground ( • Rebels Build a Fleet -... ), forcing the rebels into the Mid Rim Retreat which led to the battle of Hoth in 3 ABY ( • Battle of Hoth - How I... ). In the aftermath of Hoth, the rebels were forced to continue their retreat, but various groups like the 61st Mobile Infantry (Twilight Company) continued fighting the Empire, leading to the strategically important battle of Inyusu Tor on the planet Sullust ( • What Happened between ... ). With these minor victories, the Rebels, who learned that the Emperor is building a new Death Star, had a new opening to attack the Empire, which led to the battle of Endor ( • Battle of Endor - Gala... ). Emperor Palpatine died during the battle of Endor, but he had ordered Operation Cinder beforehand. This operation was emperor's revenge, as he wanted to destroy both the rebels, who killed him and the imperials who failed to protect him. Then infamous Shadow Wing was in charge of portions of this operation and was countered by the Republics Alphabet Squadron and the Barma Battle Group under Hera Syndulla. Their confrontation led to the battles of Pandem Nai, Cerberon and Troithe ( • Operation Cinder - Emp... ). The final battle of the Galactic Civil War would be fought near Jakku, as the New Republic finally found a way to end the empire ( • Battle of Jakku - End ... ). But that was not the end of the story. The empire dissolved in many factions and among them, grand admiral Thrawn arrived to the scene, becoming the heir of the empire.

My I humbly suggest you, on your star wars video to precise if you are talking about the Legend universe or the Disney universe. Your series on the Galactic Civil War was a Disney universe serie. This one is a Legend universe serie. Yet, you are talking about operation cinder in your hashtags, which is NOT in the Legend universe. This is quite confusing ! Awesome to have a video recap starting on the Dark crusade of the mad jedi however !

I recommend using maps from The Essential Atlas as a template. It may be too complicated but it's the official galactic map of Star Wars Legends.

One of the most compelling characters in Star Wars. A true pragmatist. He knows the empire is evil, but he knows there is *plenty* more things that are worse in the outer reach. And he is aware how small the rebellion is against the true dangers that lurk just outside the empire's reach...

The Emperor was probably concerned and jealous about Thrawn's success. Then again, looking at the maps of the Thrawn campaign and Operation Shadow Hand, the New Republic would've irrevocably destroyed if they happened at the same time.

Seconded! The Yuuzhan Vong War was such an apocalyptic event in the Star Wars universe. Not to mention some of the finest hours and darkest times of Star Wars as a whole.

While for the most part im fine with the new canon, there are quite a number of legends stories that I do miss and have a lot of value. Heir to the Empire and the original Thrawn trilogy is one of them for sure, so its nice youre throwing a bone to Legends fans.

@@ZechsMerquise195 they were unwilling to fully adapt them just because it would mean paying the authors their royalties. Disney is scummy like that, so they do 25% different adaptations instead. Ahsoka being HttE adaptation and Rise of Skywalker their Dark Empire... I know they use the excuse that they wanted creative freedom, but that sounds like bullshit. Why buy a 40-year old property then? The money argument makes more sense.

Love the Thrawn and X-Wing legends books, but I also think that the Thrawn canon books are some of the best of Star Wars. X-Wing books would make for a great TV show (roughly one book per season) and the Thrawn trilogy would make a great couple of films, sadly it's unlikely they'll ever get made. Still it's great to see a fantastic character like Thrawn is still part of canon, even if his appearances outside the books haven't been that good so far

WHOA!!!!!! LEngends. Lengends! THe Legends Star Wars continuity, the better side of Star Wars, the rich, enticing and evocative Lore, built across 4 decades with dozens of conflicts, figures and more that put Disney to shame! Wizard's and Warlocks, you are brilliant!!!!! I'm getting a membership on Patron to suggest more, more, more legend content. Heck, the Legends continuity Clone Wars is so tight and structured, specific events can be pin-pointed down to the week; Or there's the SINCERE return of Emperor Palpatine, which hseduced Luke to the Dark side until Leia whacked sense into him. And of course, the Yuzzhan Vong War & 2nd Galactic CIvil War.

Nice to see Star Wars legends, the galactic map used however is not accurate and also contains several canon planets. Sluis Van doesn't lay close to Jomark for instance

This is a most pleasant surprise, to see Star Wars Legends (the original Expanded Universe) lore video. I would've recommended The Essential Atlas sourcebook Galaxy maps as a backdrop for the lore video. Though it might've been too complex. The cloned Jedi Master was known as Joruus C'baoth, note the extra vowel was added for the clone. I never had the chance to read the Thrawn Trilogy, but I read the prequel Outbound Flight. The original Jorus C'baoth was an arrogant and becoming a tyrannical Jedi. In the climax, C'baoth actually turned to the Dark side and tried to force choke Thrawn during the battle.

But as of now Lucas stripped himself of all rights to SW. So technically, he's not the "Pope" anymore.

Canon Thrawn was great. But Legends Thrawn truly is the G.O.A.T. That’s a fact not an opinion. Reading his novels and comics in Legends was truly a blessing and treasured gift and I’ll always be thankful for them.

very nice my only criticism is that you cant tell which planets are new republic or imperial, so it hard to tell how big either side is and what will be taken in the future battles

Excellent video, I am really glad they finally begin to showcase this part of the Star Wars saga. I also recommend you read Timothy Zhans books Heir to the empire, which this is all based on. Amazing books, and a much better Star Wars saga then the most recent movies.

Thrawn will allways be, in my book. As the Emperors greatest weapon. I will allways keep to the theory that if Thrawn would have gotten his way and the Deathstar was not built but the recources used to build navy as Thrawn invisaged the Rebellion would be wiped off the board the moment Thrawn tired of playing with his meal.

This is my favorite Book series for Star Wars, followed closely by the Black Fleet Crisis. One thing though, when Thrawn Attacked Sluis Van, I am pretty sure I remember that he was mostly going for stealing heavy cruisers, not much corvettes and frigates, so should have been more MC-40s and MC-80 style Mon Calamarian vessels in that animation, and less Corellian corvettes and Nebulon-B frigates. In fact, I believe Rogue Squad was actually stationed on a Nebulon-B, captained by Afyon, which was acting as a transport ship in the area.

Awesome! Great subject and great video. It does make my sad knowing how it ended in the third book, which was terribly telegraphed but Thrawn is a supreme villain and the movies should have adapted him in some fashion as opposed to what they did with the First Order nonsense.

The Galactic Civil War in Legends is very complicated; there are many novels, comics, video games and sourcebooks made across the decades. For example; the theft of the Death Star plans has many different stories and versions across different media. I don't think it was ever decided which one was official, but since the characters involved all existed in canon, it was left open ended. These characters included Kyle Katarn, Jan Ors, Rianna Saren, Havet Storm, Bria Tharen and Red Hand Squadron.

Actually, Palptine, now in a clone of his, had sincerely hoped that Thrawn would be smart enough to not intervene but to gather resources in the outer rim and unknown regions and wild space; the true heir to the empire was none other than Palpatine himself, in yet another clone body, operating from Byss in the deep core and preparing to launch his own bid for supremacy.

Yet Palpatine bided his time and only made his move when the Thrawn campaign ended. Possibly he was wary or jealous of the Chiss Grand Admiral. If Thrawn's campaign and the Emperor's Operation Shadow Hand happened at the same time, the New Republic would've been destroyed.

@@chissstardestroyer Whatever Palpatine's reasons for not helping Thrawn, it would cost the Empire a valuable opportunity to crush the New Republic once and for all. Looking at the Essential Atlas maps; with Thrawn in the Galactic North, Palpatine in the Deep Core, and Coruscant and the Core Worlds sandwiched in-between.

Disney Canon doesn't count. Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire is still a masterpiece 30 years later. I haven't watched anything Star Wars related in years after being an obsessive fan for decades.

I've read the New Jedi Order series long ago. The Yuuzhan Vong War was more destructive than the Galactic Civil War. It introduced the next generation of Jedi into a brutal universe.

The new canon is a abomination that was specifically design to uproot the franchise's worldbuilding and lore continuity and very spirit. And it proceeded to profane and mock and disrespect it in spiteful contempt and bringing unrighteous contentions and dissensions that forever divides the fan community more then ever and has led so many of the new generation astray by normalizing it's fornications and compromising the entire series. There is no rationalizing or justifying conforming to this transgression and prideful lawlessness. The brand deserves to end. And with Disney's current status and the lawsuits they are facing along with the shutting down of studios that time may be soon dawning.

Also there are a lot of planets in your map that are canon planets only and not legends. Those may need to be removed

The Thrawn trilogy is top tier Star Wars expanded universe. Imo it is the defacto REAL sequel trilogy. What I love most about Star Wars Heir to the Empire novel was how the writer made the Empire the underdog. In the original trilogy, audience see the Empire as a indestructible force. In HTTE since Endor, the Imperials have a few Starships and starfighters. A lot of their veterans soldiers and star pilots were killed. They have no choice but to use raw recruits. When the Empire was still the dominate power in charge, the Rebel Alliance had to use guerilla tactics. In HTTE, it the Empire that had to resort to use that same tactic like the Rebels.
