The hosts of this years live steam are all amazing! Both very useful in how they talk about the puzzles in a way that makes it more understandable to us who aren’t as experienced with speed puzzling, so we can understand what is happening and what might be going on in the puzzlers heads, and how they are approaching it differently. But also they have a very friendly and great dynamic.

I came here for Karen, but this is a lot of fun to watch. I never do 500 piece puzzles because I feel like they are too easy, and I enjoy the challenge of bigger puzzles. I wonder if I'd be fast. 🤔

I’ve been thinking this same thing. Maybe I’ll do a 500 piece soon and time it just for the heck of it 😅

I did the Circle of Color flowers puzzle a few days ago (my first 500 piece puzzle). It took longer than I thought 😅. I didn't really do it for speed but I looked at the watch. It took Karen I think 55 min...me...well...3 hours 🫣. I had a bad light and I did it on my bed while watching the competition but still....I don't think I would be faster than 2 hours. No speed puzzling competitions for me. 😂

I don't understand why they make them have a table cloth and then they have to put something over the table cloth because nobody likes to puzzle on a tablecloth.
@kimberkrestsolocamping61867 ай бұрын
Places that host big events (i.e., banquets, weddings, trade shows) have sturdy but very ugly tables that get alot of wear and tear. That's why their tables always have tablecloths on them. Plus, some of the wear and tear may be gouges, etc., that would play havoc with the puzzle pieces.

I'm from an under represented country (Paraguay) and I feel that it's so unfair that they take that into consideration for the top 60. The top 60 should be the fastest and nothing else. Without discrimination. Considering the country, is a form of discrimination.
@ObsessiveGeek7 ай бұрын
That is how it’s judged, it’s nothing to do with where you’re from
@anniekate767 ай бұрын
@@ObsessiveGeekno - for qualifying rounds, half of those who advance are the fastest one (up to 30) from each country and then the rest of the 60 who advance from each round are in strict order of speed. Since some countries send way fewer people due to distance and expense, it is a way to keep later rounds more internationally representative. Just like in the Olympics any country can send a team and maybe the best bobsledders from Jamaica will be drawn from a much smaller pool than the best bobsledders from Norway, but they still want to give every country a chance. The times and rankings they show are of course in speed order but who advances in each round is just determined as above.
@ObsessiveGeek7 ай бұрын
@@anniekate76 Well yes though the fastest from a less represented country has a better opportunity to get through than someone slower from a larger represented country, so it’s pretty fair in this regard. The rules should be well known for everyone who competes.

Gymnastics worlds work like this: Only top two women from one country are allowed to progress to the final, regardless how high their scores where compared to the others. It is often done to promot the sport to the countries with low support and to be Worlds and not just another Open Competition
