2:22-3:42 Channel 7 Eyewitness News" intro (1986-1990) my childhood. That's the intro i'll aways remember. The music brings back so many memories growing up watching channel 7 with my family in the mid 80's/early 90's.

Update now: Kathy Brock is retiring from ABC 7 Wednesday June 27th after the news at 10, Cheryl Burton has succeeded Kathy at 10 after 15 years as a backup anchor and 10, Judy Hsu has succeeded Kathy at 6pm less than 2 years succeeding Linda Yu at 4.

New York, Houston, and San Francisco all kept the WLS Eyewitness News theme 3:43 until at least 1993. Chicago used a remix of the theme in the same key 4:00 briefly from circa fall 1991 to spring or summer 1992.

The first intro reminds me of Ernie Anstatos and Roz Abrams anchoring the WABC 7's 5pm newscast. It's 5pm, do you know were your children are? (begin theme) Now, Channel 7 Eyewitness News at 5 with Ernie Anstatos and Roz Abrams.

wzzm in Grand Rapids Michigan used this theme minute 2:45 from 1985 to about 1988 and Wzzm use to use the Eyewitness news as their title until the late 1990's.

Starting tomorrow you're going to have to add some new intros since Ron Majors retired. Alan Krashesky is now the anchor at 5, 6 and 10. And Rob Elgas is now at 4.

The theme starting at 4:12... WABC used it for their morning "Eyewitness News" broadcasts as well. "This is Channel 7 Eyewitness News this Morning... with Tim Fleischer, Art McFarland with Sports, Sam Champion(or was it Dr. Bill Gutsch?) with Weather, and the Eyewitness News team. And now, Eyewitness News."

Not quite...the cut WABC used (along with WLS in the first years of the morning program) was straight from the original "News Series 2000" package. The cut heard here was apparently a cassette tape edit of the aforementioned cut. It was used until 2001, when it was replaced due to the lackluster sound quality of the tape.

Let me identify a few V/Os in this video: Wayne Atkinson (station staff): 0:00-0:28 Mike Rapchak? (station staff): 0:28-0:57, 2:01-2:22 Gary Gears (former WLS-AM DJ whose recordings were usually used during Nielsen sweeps periods, died in 1991): 3:42-3:59 Janice Gears Kos (station part-timer, Gears' ex-wife): 18:11-18:14 Interestingly, WLS kept the live staff announcers around until 1989, when the last full-timers retired, according to Kos. The station then used Gears for most V/Os, then Ron Rolland for main work and Roger Thompson for others after Gears died. What's the name of the package they use now? It sounds like a variation on News Series, but I don't know specifically which one it is.

***** It's "Stimulus" by Gari Media Group (now a part of Warner/Chappell Production Music, much like Gari's competitors such as 615 Music and Non-Stop Music). It shares the same musical signature as "News Series 2000." (Older samples of "Stimulus" are listed as "News Series 2000 Plus," "Stimulus"'s old name, on SouthernMedia's News Music Search Archive.)

Carrington Woods They're still using "Stimulus," but the version they're using is an update from their 2013 rebranding to _Eyewitness News_. As good as it would have been to keep the original 1992 cuts, I think the current version fits better, and I don't think they'll be switching back. (You may notice they're also using the "Eyewitness News" music package from the same company.) (Useless trivia: the current cuts of "Stimulus" reuse cues from series 11 of "Advantage".)

I remember one of the openings for maybe the 11am? news from this era showed a Soo Line train locomotive with a brakeman. Likely shot on Goose Island. I have seen a few of these opening montages but have yet to find it. You seem very knowledgeable about these. Was hoping you could help me out. Thanks

jack jones he was kyw 3s anchor when it was nbc owned affiliated with group w at one time group w stations owned the titling of eyewitness news wabc although ono group w had a stake in kyw nbc and wabc ny in fact it ties into wjz being abc at one time
