The WLToys 104010 is a cute, small but insanely fast 1/14 scale car.
The first one ever from WLToys, to match the gps speed with the top speed declared on the box.
It mounts a 60A 2s - (3s) ESC (*), separated radio receiver, and 3 wires steering servo.
It is equipped with a range improved remote control ( 100+ meters)
Unfortunately there are some cons too. The steering is pretty twitchy, nervous and unpredictable.
This is not due to the servo itself, but a delayed and unprecise control from the remote.
Replacing the remote/receiver with a cheap dumbo RC totally changes the handling of this model that, in my opinion, is more suited for speed runs and bashing just on short grass or terrain.
You won't experience any cogging this time like the previous mistaken WLToys124017 V1 and, other than an amazing speed, it has plenty of torque.
A pity for the steering otherwise this would be really a perfect cheap fast and enjoyable rc model.
(*) BEWARE! The ESC is not certified by WLToys to work with 3s lipos even if it looks 3s tolerant.
Overvolting the ESC can cause flames, fire and damages to yourself and the environment.
The test played in this video with 3s lipo was performed under my total danger awareness and for entertaining purpose only. So please, don't do this and stick safely to the 2s lipo supplied in the box with your car.

Nice man may have to buy one of these and put little twist on it and put Dumbo RC xf6g reciever in and hope and pray a hobbywing max10 60a ESC fits in also 😆😆🙏💚👊

yes mate, a bit tricky to fit.. you proably need to extend the body holder cause it's gonna be a bit tall.

@@ViCatRC maybe the 124017 is the way to go mate due to the slightly bigger size etc then should have no issue with it is there any front wings can buy that are ready made for a 124017 for downforce etc mate I won't be a basher just a starter speed runner and gunna try a phat bodies but a bit worried about the cutting to fit it were did you get those blue side bits mate they look mega can you buy them anywhere ready made mate 🙏💚👊

Hello mate. I guess so. Consider in the test i used the stock 2s 25c lipo and than a 3s 50c. The esc is a bit weak, but working right in spec with 2s lipo should be fine.

Considering it's a relatively cheap 1/14 scale small buggy, yes, it's really fast.

@@ViCatRC I have 3 of the 1/12 scale 124019 Wltoys cars I put twin motors in, one has 4000/kv center mounted, and geared up, I'm expecting close to 100 mph. I officially hit 68.5, but I he next run was close to full throttle which I think would have been around 80, but I crashed, and forgot to record the speed. Last year I was trying to hit 125, and it would have been a record, but someone has now hit 157 mph, that's gonna be tough to beat.

A center mounted motor, that's interesting. I was thinking to something similar too. About the speed records, each result can be beated. It's just a matter of time and of course of money you want to spend and even waste on it. That's exactly against my philosophy, by the way I respect who invests lot of money to build some masterpieces. I passed 100 mph with both my 124019 and 124017 running with some 3d printed self designed wings, a cheap 10$ motor and a rebranded clone of the glorious hobbywing max10 4s ESC that costs half the original. I was pretty happy with it, I basically did not spend a fortune and I got amazing results.

@@ViCatRC that's great I can't spend 600 in electronics for a 100. Car right now., But the guy that has the record beat the old record, then got sponsored, so now he's running a 199.00 motor mamba 8s, that's a bit out of my budget right now. But I'm having fun. The center mounted twin was a chore, everything had to be custom made, but it handles very good at 50 on a rough road, I haven't had a chance to open it up yet, but I expect a solid 90-100mph build.. I have twin 2838/4300kv geared a bit over stock, and a twin stock brushed build with stock gearing on 3s. It would be pushing the esc to run 4s, but I'll probably try it.
