What Liz Taylor ("Debbie's best friend") and Eddie Fisher did to her was unconscionable. Liz dumped him for Richard. Debbie got dumped by a no-class loser so he could play husband on the rebound after Mike Todd's death. Debbie took it all on her very endearing, good as gold chin and went on with her life. She never got the attention she deserved from Hollywood. She and Doris day were certainly on equal footing as comic talent.

Yeah, Liz really has nothing on Debbie as far as looks, talent and personality go. I'll never understand Eddie's thinking behind that awful decision. I'm sorry but Liz just wasn't all that, not at all. His career did take a hure nose dive after he left Debbie and rightfully so. I don't think it ever really recovered and I feel no sympathy or empathy whatsoever...what the H did he think would happen?!

I'm so angry at Dorothy Kilgallen, who clearly had a crush on Eddie Fisher and derails Ms Reynolds' appearance here by being so much more interested in The Man than in the actual guest.

@@caligal1090 He didn't just leave her for Elizabeth, but it was when he was "consoling" Elizabeth after the tragic accidental death of her husband, Mike Todd. Debbie trusted him and Liz, her best friend, then got stabbed in the back to raise their two children by herself. It was a HUGE Hollywood scandal when it happened. She held her head high and was such a dignified classy lady! The thing is that Frank Sinatra told Debbie to not marry a singer since they were not trustworthy. She did it anyway and look what happened. Ol' Blue Eyes was right!
