uswnt soccer and more I agree so much! Especially about Brian, who had a really strong 2016, especially in the post-Olympic friendlies. And although I don't like Allie Long playing center back, she's shown a lot of improvement as a player and is a force to be reckoned with. They both deserve a lot more credit than they get :)

Ha, ha, ha!!! Until the French stop choking at major tournaments, that wouldn't happen. We'll see at the EUROS next year how they do but don't get your hopes up. But even if they get their shit together our team will be phenomenal

If it was only about skill, the French should have won every major tournament for at least the last couple of years. Yet, they can't seem to beat either the US or Germany, and they keep lesser teams around, so a Canada can and did beat them in the last World Cup, and several teams could easily do the same to them. They have a fantastic defense and midfield. But their goalie is sub-par and they don't have one "can't miss world class forward" to put the ball in the net consistently. The US have about all of their forwards (as well as the ones on the bench) AND some midfielders who meet that criteria! If the French can field even one forward of that caliber, that might do the trick, but it's a big question whether they are able to. And I don't see any superstar goalie on the horizon for them either.

Alex, individual skills is only a small component. French women have won neither an Olympic gold or a World Cup. So, the same "skills" won't get them much further because they refuse to change. Furthermore, to the purported superior skills by the French women, have you seen Heath or Press play? They cut, slash, shoot better than anyone on the French team. I love Amandine Henry. She would be a starter if she were American. But that's it. All those pretty skills you speak about, the Americans evolved beyond them years ago. It's all about precise passing, fitness, making creative runs etc. The Americans should've won the 2007 cup were it not for the most moronic goalie substitution in history. And let's not forget that the Swedish game was a colossal upset and the Americans were by far the favorites to win. I'll take the American "skills"/system over the French every single time because they've proven that it results in major titles.

Lynn only has her number till Alex is back with the team. There is supposedly seniority when deciding who gets what number so once Alex Morgan comes back #13 will be hers again. Besides I wouldn't be sad about it for the time being, Lynn is an awesome savvy and extremely fast player just like Alex, so the fact that she is wearing her number right now is perfect. First Cap, First Touch, First Goal for Lynn, that was cool

She's just borrowing it. Lynn Williams is a keeper though. She has a lot of Alex Morgan in her. Fast and always looking for her teammates and can finish. It would be interesting seeing her play with Alex. The other US forwards should worry about their place on the team with new players like Williams coming in.

Can you imagine a top line with Alex, Lynn, and Mallory on it?! Not that Ellis would have the balls to do it but it would be so cool to see!

If Lynn does not get more playing time and caps, something is wrong. She looked like fantastic out there. Her and Alex up top could he deadly.

Alex is a known quantity. She's a superstar. She doesn't need more practice when she needs to rest up and heel much more. Same with Klingenburg and Rapinoe (though I hope not to see Rapinoe back for a long time if ever). This gives Gill Ellis a chance to evaluate many new players and get them familiar with her new system.
