We have the answer for Feitan Nen category and he is a Transmuter. Funny because Phinks, who is an Enhancer, forms a really great duo with Feitan, just like Gon and Killua who have the same Nen category. The Mummy guy him is either Conjurer or Transmuter, don't remember. Kalluto and Sharnalk are Manipulator. Shizuku is a Conjurer. And little recap about the other Troupe members : Nobunaga and Uvogin are Enhancers. Korutopi is a Conjurer Chrollo (and Pakunoda was) is Specialist. Machi is a Transmuter. Franklin is an Emitter.

Feitan can probably use other methods of returning the pain, it seems rising sun is just one subcategory. It's a good one to overcome a hard shell though, probably great about slow tanks in general but I'm kind of exciting to see if he has more. The best opponents to beat Feitan would be people like the Zoldycks (not Kalluto though xD), they don't leave anything to chance, they will always try to go for the one-shot rather than damage an enemy little by little so that they don't have to deal with weird conditions. Killua if he trained and increased his Aura to the same level would probably be a huge counter to Feitan. His lightning mosty stuns enemies rather than dealing damage to them and since he's a transmuter, his enhancement would be comparable to Feitain's who also is a transmuter meaning that once he manages to stun Feitan even for a fraction of a second, he can finish him off with Ko during the stun so that Feitan doesn't have the luxury to use Ryu to block. Hisoka would also be a good choice because his strat is generally to get the person entangled into bungee gum and then finish them instantly, but only if he takes the fight seriously. If he played around too much, he might very well lose that one. Enhancers are in general a bad match-up though unless they're so overwhelmingly powerful that they can one-shot Feitan, but in general, they seem to be the "fighting toe to toe kind" which is very bad against Feitan, the moment you start winning you're dead. Still some enhancers like Phinks if he could use Ripper Cyclotron (but would Feitan give him the time? Unlikely) could handle the fight. Most are fucked though. If Kurapika could stop a big bang impact, no doubt Feitan can survive one too (even if he doesn't have 100% mastery in enhancement) as long as he's not stunned or anything like that, and it would leave him very badly injured which is perfect for his ability. Another very obvious counter to Feitan is a 2v1 in succession (or anyone capable to run away at high speed). If you can avoid the attack, Feitan still keeps the injury so he's kind of fucked when you come back, especially considering the amount of aura this must cost. This isn't to say Feitan isn't amazing, cause he is, but there are plenty of counters in Nen as well as plenty of bad matchtups. Feitain remains a monster despite that.
