The Father of my Episcopal Church denies the Virgin birth of Jesus. States something like: lots of Pagan religions of the time had virgin births in their mythology. The best part is that the other church members at the table then made fun of me for insisting that Mary was/is a virgin. The exact phrase used was: ‘you don’t really believe that, do you?’ They nicely called me an idiot who does not understand biology. What is next? They deny the resurrection; because that defies the normal order of things too? I am still upset about this. As Episcopalians we recite the Nicene Creed every Sunday. The Priest does not believe the Creed he is leading the congregation in. I am now exploring my options outside of the Episcopal Church.

Amen, if you deny the essentials of who Jesus Christ is, including that he was born of a virgin, you are clearly not born of the Spirit, and you are not part of the body of Christ even if you fool yourself by attending, or even worse, lead a "church." Praying for these people to understand whar danger they are in before its too late

Nothing new here. Mainline Presbyterians went apostate almost 100 years ago. Conservative Presbyterians left the northern branch around 1930 and left the southern branch in 1973.

Denying basic Christian truths in order to broaden the church’s appeal always has the opposite effect. It diminishes the church in every way. I have spoken several times in full affirmation of the Virgin Birth as attested by Matthew and Luke. The argument is a bit theological but basically Jesus being born of a virgin is essential to his role in saving us from our sins. (Of course, the progressives don’t believe we need to be saved from sin). Furthermore, to deny the virgin birth is to deny the power, the wisdom,and the ability of Almighty God who, at his word, created all things out of nothing. It is no surprise that Gabriel, in announcing the virgin conception to Mary said, “For nothing will be impossible with God.” Amen

When a "pastor" denies Christian doctrine, find the exit...quickly! A divinity degree does NOT make one divine!

This is crazy. I cant believe nobody walked up and told him he needs to step down immediately. I would have. Especially if that was my church. If I was a visitor i would have just walked out.

This guy can’t even be saved. The virgin birth is top on the list of the fundamentals of salvation.

Maybe this is why nobody goes to these churches anymore? Ive noticed young people that go to church are normally going to ones that stay true to The Bible. Stay true to God. These places are dieing and this is why.

If Jesus never mentioned the Virgin Birth, then how did the writers of the Gospels come to know about it? From Mary? Joseph? One of Jesus' brothers?

The central event of the New Testament is the physical flesh and blood Resurrection of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. If you believe in the flesh and blood Resurrection of Jesus, you should have no problem with believing in the virgin birth. In fact, nothing in the Nicean creed, nor the Apostles creed should be controvercial what so ever, at all!

I know I am from the Stone Age but how can you call yourself a Christian and not believe in Jesus? I thought that was the one thing that you had to believe to be a Christian.

Even Muslims believe in the virgin birth of Jesus. Added: In Mathew 1:18-25 We read an account of Joseph discovering on their wedding night that Mary was pregnant. He decided to resolve things quietly so that Mary would not be disgraced. However an angel spoke to Joseph in his dream. Quote: “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Well, I guess the Pastor does not believe what the angel said either as it was only a dream Joseph had. BTW, isn't it interesting that the Joseph in the Old Testament also had a dream that his brothers were bowing down to him?

This pastor is a joke and it not a laughing matter. Our Lord was predicted even in the Old Testament Isaiah 7:14. Then he questioned how Christ was conceived then need to read Luke 1 26-38. Then he should read John 19 26-27 and then finally for his sake of his read Revelation chapter 12. Pray for his soul that he takes it back before the day of Christ return.
