Nah the dream is enlist make it through the selection process and not have too play dress up . Unfortunately for me I got busted with LSD in high-school and branded as a felon at 16 for being stupid and the marine recruiter that said it's juvenile doesn't matter called me two days later too say sorry it does matter they won't take you good luck .

The actors in the 1996 military drama film “The Rock” who had portrayed as rogue Force Recon Marines and Navy Seals, especially and including Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery were wearing old school tactical gear and uniforms. The AR’s they’ve had used was the old m16a2 some of em equipped with the m203 under barrel grenade launcher in the fewer scenes and car15. And the other team of actors were armed with heckler and Koch mp5 9 millimeter sub machine guns including Sean Connery used one later after the “massacre” scene right before using a car15 prior to the ending of the movie. I had seen Nicholas Cage used a Beretta m92f 9 millimeter semi automatic pistol most of the time and later colt car15. That tactical gear is modern and the uniform too, it used mostly by law enforcement special weapons and tactics (S.W.A.T.) teams in all 3 levels local/state/federal, including some special police departments. I have been remembering that movie very well in my memories. It was in the mid-90’s and we are in the early 2020’s.

The force recon marines had some top line vintage gear like Captain Hendricks (played by John C McGinley) using a M16A2 with a little Maglite clamped on the barrel with a pig tail wired pressure switch while doing the tunnel sweep when the Seals tripped the motion sensor.

The Marines got the Bay treatment and everything about them was inaccurate. Seals were close to accurate. 007 references were on point.

Nothing about The Rock was accurate regarding SEALs and Force Recon. In real life, they would have never sent in a SEAL team the way they did. The negotiators would have pushed things to nightfall. Snipers with spotters from shore would have recorded the routine of the Tango’s and identified the main/central location from which the Tango’s ate, drank, slept, went off duty. The SEALS emerge from sub and swim ashore and would have pushed silently from the outside using silenced (not suppressed) weapons to get as close to storming the HQ area, as spotted by the snipers. Also, wearing all black is about the same as wearing all white. There is a reason for camouflage because it works, all black would make you stand out even in the dark.
