Lovely. Reminds me a bit of Ralph Towner, but with a difference sense of harmony. I have been a big fan of Wolfgang for years. Incredible player and composer.

oh oui ! ! !, les harmonies de Ralph Towner ( guitariste que j'adore , par dessus tout ) sont très très différentes mais les deux sont des guitaristes d'exception ! !

Don’t know how I haven’t discovered your beautiful playing before…what a “voice”. Incredibly mysterious, plus all the passion, grace and fire that I love from my favorite players. Way to let the music breathe.

Listening to Wolfgang Muthspiel is always an incredible journey. Would never miss him playing live! (And he even can sing like a young James Taylor!)

love this trio! perfectly balanced. would like to hear more trio recordings. the work with Towner, "Travel Guide" was a revelation and I sought our more of your music. The quintet is no slouch either, but your sound is well suited for the trio format (to me), mainly because I get to hear more of your playing!

Diretto erede di Ralph Touner sa conciliarne come lui sapientemente gli aspetti contemporanei di fusione fra la musica di estrazione colta con il jazz di sintesi. Fra i più interessanti chitarristi apparsi nell'ultimo trentennio. Composizione e tecnica portata a cuore e sentimento.

Dear woflgang..last night i had the great pleasure of hearing you for the very first time. I had not heard of you before and therefore had absolutely no expectations-i was invited by a friend who is the director of the hall you played at in Sydney..In a concert filled with as many highlights as there are constellations, I loved the Joni Mitchell tribute (Amelia), the highflying energy and sheer joyousness that was 'Meldhau' and your heartfelt encore "Father & Sun'. Thank you for sharing your musicality, your fantastic musical partners & Co Conspirators in crime namely Brian 'drum-tastic' Blade and Larry 'badass bass'' Grenadier..I am still recovering. Ps have you recorded the Joan?

could somebody please explain what cambiata means in terms of music theory?
@tonyborthwick12347 жыл бұрын
"The cambiata is a figure that usually begins with a downward second to an unaccented note, then a downward third followed by an upward second to another unaccented note, so that it ends a third away from its beginning. Both the second and third notes can be dissonant."
@mjbrady16147 жыл бұрын
Interesting note on this. I'm currently doing an analysis of his recording of this on driftwood (2014) and his whole open impro at the beginning has all these little cambiata figures spread through out it. I'd be really interested to know if that was at all intentional.

Beautiful music and beautiful playing, but something's off with the sound of the rack tom, like a secondary resonant tone. It's possible that it isn't noticed on stage. It's subtle but intrusive, as I hear it. A small but noticeable stain on an otherwise immaculate recording.
