Didn't realize the Allies used Medium Tankers to transport their nukes

Did anyone notice how about 60 people got yeeted into the air when that destroyer was hit. I really like that effect but, that was a bit much innit

Diary of a u-boat navigator: February 27th, 1945 After hitting a tanker and waiting for 3 hours, it was evident that she was not going down. Sometimes i am impressed by the allied merchant shipbuilding as they seem to find ways to make even the small ships unsinkable by 1 torpedo. Still, our captain fired one at her and the reward was worth the extra torpedo. The explosion echoed through our entire submarine and the captain looked slightly taken aback by the event. After a moment, the captain moved away from the periscope and said: " we broke her in half" and then walked towards the table. I decided to look through the periscope myself and shure enough, the ship had only its bow and stern bearly staying above water and where its midships once were was now covered in oil and a big, bright fire. The scene was quite symbolic i'd say: two sides divided by a fire that is war which is fed by the blood of both sides people represented by the ship's oil... a quite true statement of this war. After enjoying my moment, the other crew members also took turns in watching the scene, soon, however, the captain put an end to the show. Then the captain ordered me to plot a new course, once again we are to pass the Kanal so that we could get to Bergen faster. Time to roll the dice again i guess. March 5th, 1945 We made it through the Kanal again, only attacking 2 destroyers along the way, sinking 1 of them. Only a short way left until we reach the shores of Bergen once again... March 9th, 1945 We made it, we are near Norway again. The order to surface has just been given. Can't write anymore, have to enjoy the moment now ... After writing that, Karl closed his diary and made his way to the control room. Once there, he could once again see the process that was taking place in order for the submarine tu surface. Soon enough, the submarine was on the surface once again and the watch crew made their way up the tower. Soon, the sound of the hatch opening could be heard and a draft of fresh air went through the submarine. After the watch crew was up, every officer lined up in order to taste the surface once again. Karl was next to last, folowed by the captain. Once on the conning tower, Karl made his way to the front of the boat and looked at the bow of the submarine. There was quite some damage that was left behind by that one depth charge, but still the boat withstood it. "They almost got us, didn't they" the captain said as he joined Karl in looking at the damaged part of the submarine. "True, but almost is not enough to kill us" Karl responded as they both let out a short laugh. After that, a moment of silence came over them as they observed the shores of Norway for a minute. "How long is left of this war, captain?" Karl asked as he looked towards the captain. "Not a lot left i would say. But how long, i can not say. Perhaps this will be our last patrol" the captain told him while still looking towards Norwegian shores. "But let us not think about that right now, let us enjoy our survival of a another patrol and look foward to a lenghy shore stay instead" the captain added as he looked back at Karl. "I guess the future will come when it may, captain. I just hope there is a letter waiting for me back on shore right now" Karl replied as he smiled slightly. "Well, soon we will all find out what awaits us at the shores of Bergen" the captain finished with a smile of his own, after which they looked towards the fjords while enjoying the fresh air on a crowded conning tower... (Another patrol survived by the crew, hurrah! Next patrol will be quite fun to watch as i had never gotten this far in my games. Anyway, i shall join you all on our final advanture next fryday, till then, have a good week :) . )

Next mission, head to Antarctica with the Fuhrer to the secret moon base.

When you shoot at crippled ships, you should probably aim for a new spot. Seems like busting open a second hole in an already-flooded compartment wouldn't do much good.

Stubborn little tanker went out in a fit of rage XD It would be cool if you could give a demonstration of the LuT angle-independent torpedo's unique firing options in this play through. If I remember correctly, they were meant to be a staple weapon of the Type XXI which could sit underneath a convoy shadowing it gathering targeting data with Nibelung then unleashing several devastating volleys of LuT from within. Personally I haven't been able to figure them out and use them to their full effect yet, interested to see your approach. Just a suggestion though of course! Great episode, looking forward to the 3rd war patrol!

Small real life trivia: U-2513 was used by the US after the war. It even had President Truman on board for a dive test. It's a shame they didn't turn her into a museum

Thank you Wolfpack for doing these videos. The weekly patrol always pops up early in the evening on a Friday in my timezone. And since there isn't that much of a chance to go out and party at the moment, it has become a routine for me to watch them as soon as they air.

Bit weird to hear the "Die Leute sind von Bord" ('The people are off the ship') voiceline while the ship is still moving and lights still turning. Great series!

The Royal Navy will start to consider that little patch of the channel to be cursed. Two warships sunk in pretty much the exact same spot.

Tough to kill tankers could very well be empty tankers, and I believe the game actually simulates this possibility. Of course it would be rather uncommon for empty tankers to go *to* the UK, but one could imagine it was a refined fuel tanker returning from stocking up Gibraltar or something.

i Think war will be over while you are out in the sea... As it is the last warpatrol you should give a crap about orders and sail wherever you want... maybe Argentina LoL. On your next series, i very much love to see you engaging war against Allies in a Type IID as a special operation submarine with the mission of strike English ports, but it's more realistic to take control of a Type VII-B/C since 1940

Sincere questions here: 1) Why don't you PICK your torpedo load out - it seems from what you're saying you're taking whatever is given. 2) Why not stop at Lorient (or where ever) to restock and then go back out and THEN back to Norway? 3) More comment than question - I LOVE stocking up on T-5's or higher and taking out destroyers. Yes, I know, "it's a tonnage war" - but, you'd probably have a blast. I do wish that SH3 (or other games) would be like Cold Waters (or better) that YOUR performance directly effects the outcome (to a degree) of how the war is going.

I wonder will we pay a visit to Japan and become "mercenary's" for the Imperial Japanese Navy, their should be some German torpedoes and equipment left over at George Town, Malaysia from the now disbanded *Monsun Gruppe* squadron that was operating their.

It feels like you have a very minor habit of disbelieving your target speed measurements and adjusting them down. If we think about a lonely destroyer not escorting anything, couldn't it go 20 knots easily? I guess the habit might come from primarily sinking merchants in convoys, which are mostly very slow and thus a high speed would seem unrealistic and unexpected?

I wonder how Wolfpack would do if they modeled the (correct me if I’m wrong) various mechanical malfunctions in the Type XXI as well as the difficulties in using the snorkel (due to the snorkel’s poor design) and the Type XXI’s increased susceptibility to depth charges.

I'm not sure if the ship @23:50 was a V&W, you see the mast line that comes from the bow to the stren? Well the ship you have spotted looks like it has a tower mast at the stren where the book says the V&W has a stub mast at the stren.

Ya know, I was scrolling through the FAQ's in the UBoat forums today. They're going to add a Type XXI if the success continues! Personally, if it's the same level as the type VII, I'd pay $20 for Type XXI dlc

I am pretty sure I told you before, but maybe you didn't read that comment ... : "1m under keel" is too deep. If you use magnetic pistols, go for 0.5-0.7m, as in the game the damage falloff is quite (too?) large for underkeel torp explosions. (Guess they used the depth charge mechanic, which is not quite applicable for surface ships?!?) A 3500t ship should absolutely go down with 1 hit. And check the ident book ... I remember there where schematics with "hit zones" somewhere in the game (although those might have been from a mod, I cant remember). There's a "keel" hit zone, "engine room" etc.. Aiming for the engine room is always nice ... Oh, nearly forgot again ... you don't need to shoot at "0°", especially at non-moving targets ... torps will do 90° to the side quite fine (and there's no wire to break), just switch your aim for 10m forward/aft to correct for the torp turning. Saves lots of time - and maybe your life when in a tight spot ;-) And what I wanted to ask for some time now - why don't you use the "torp spread" function of the TDC, if you are shooting 2 at 1 target?

Sadly the Stopwatch doesn't work on my map view to do the 3:15 Method. Btw can you explain the Speed Measurement in the Scope View. When you check speed by Ship length.
