It's a smart move, Hugh Jackman already said "Wolverine died in Logan, not changing that." So, the events of Deadpool & Wolverine don't interfere with that films continuity at all. It also gives the writers an opportunity to "start fresh" and make this Wolverine as jaded and violent as possible to fit the tone of an R-rated film.

It does though. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you bring back the same actor to play the same character and no one knows the events in the other films - then he didn't die. Emotionally you destroy the gravitas of the previous films. It's the same thing that happened with Palpatine in Star Wars. They were aware of the damage and tried to give reasons: "Dark magic only the sith knew, and shix" But we in the audience just laughed since we understand the *real* reasons: _Studio is out of ideas, so now jumping shark and shix._ And that's what this is. Sorry.

@@summertyme5748in the trailer he's talking to X-23 who calls him a hero and he says I'm not a hero kid. The audience is going to know he is a variant and not the one who died in Logan. We are deep into the Multiverse saga, Spider-Verse is huge, people love Loki.. This isn't complicated.

In general, this is not the first time, Logan 2017 is also non-canonical to other films and unfolds in a separate universe (or Dark Phoenix would be recognized as non-canon).

Lol idk why people say Logan is in a different universe when the director literally confirmed that it’s 5 years after DOFP. Are there inconsistencies? Yes, but this isn’t the first time inconsistencies appeared in the X-Men trilogy. First class contradicts a lot of the films, and it came out 6 yeads before Logan! When it comes to the Fox-verse, inconsistencies do not affect the continuity of certain films in a given timeline.

There are infinite universes where Logan experiences the exact same things most of his life. Then there are an infinite number of universes where had drastic changes. Its irrelevant whether this is the Wolverine "we know", especially considering there are already multiple. The only relevance is how it plays out in the current story. This Logan's backstory can be given in the film. It changes little to nothing.

@@MovieTalkNow The wolverine that we see at the end of DOFP is the same one we see in Logan. The events follow on. In preventing the sentinels from ever existing the X-men live until 2029 when the events of Logan take place. They have already confirmed that this is a different Wolverine not yet seen before onscreen.

This is the only way that the X-Men timeline makes any sense: 》X-Men First Class. 》X-Men. 》X-2. 》Last Stand. 》The Wolverine. 》Logan. I see all the other movies as just "what if?" stuff that isn't actually important to the main fox timeline. That's just my head canon and how I see the X-Men timeline.

The Dark Phoenix movie pretty much ignored days of future past and Apocalypse. In days of future past we see Jean alive again and all grown up. And in Apocalypse we seen Jean used the her Dark Phoenix power against Apocalypse. In the Dark Phoenix movie Jean is using her Dark Phoenix powers for the first time. Like the events of Apocalypse never even happen. The x-men timeline had always been confusing.

You could still be right tho paradox said he failed to save his world…just think when u make a new timeline and don’t correct it the new timeline becomes a new universe earth (I can be wrong but ain’t that what Loki did he turn the timelines to a multiverse of earths) so when Wolverine wakes up in a new timeline/earth he doesn’t have new memories just old memories from x1 to dofp..where did that other consciousness go to? Probably to the dofp and that world gets destroyed by the sentinels or prune or incursion happens and 1 earth or 2 gets destroyed idk but some still believe that Monica is in the new world Wolverine created and Wolverine gets shunned bc u know hey u was trying to kill our earth to save your own get out and wolverine sees the tva they try prune him bt he manages get the device from tva soldiers to go to another earth and ends up in the mcu 616

Being a Deadpool movie, he was always on the edge of a universe that seemed to be on the edge of the X-Men first class universe, and never really cared.... so I suspect this Logan is pretty much the same..... my first thought was this was a Logan that basically put Professor X out his misery pretty early, and had not went through the events of Logan....so a variant of the Logan we saw up to the end of DOFP..... being honest, its going to be Wolverine that we know, just not THE Wolverine we know

I think this wolverine is the same from world class and logan, but because of deadpool coming to him, he makes a branching timeline changing everything almost exactly how loki did when the tva went to him, i think his future is supposed to be the events of logan but this movie changes that , the reason i say it is because the first class villain is in the movie, hes is in the bar where he tells the xmen to fuckoff and the claw defect , all that kinda gives me this idea

What if this is X-24. we know gun shots to the head won't always kill wolverine. So what if this logan recovers and takes the persona of logan from the comic books which are canon to the film. It would explain why he is so emotionally attached to the suit.

I’m guessing something on the lines of him being completely negligent, dysfunctional, complacent and somehow that leads to the death of the entire team, thus plunging his world into despair. Paradox says Logan let down his entire world, I’m guessing in that universe the X-men are basically the equivalent of the avengers. They are the world’s superheroes, worshipped and idolised by the public. Somehow Wolverine’s actions compromise an important mission and the consequences prove to be fatal. It would be awesome if Mysterio is the cause behind Logan’s failure just like the source material.

That's fine by me. As far as I'm concerned both Hugh and Ryan have respect for these characters. I don't think either one of them would do anything they felt would sell out either Wolverine or Deadpool. After the second trailer dropped, I haven't felt this positive about a Marvel film in a very, very long time. I don't need it to follow any one continuity. Just let them be Wolverine and Deadpool and let the fun and action rock and I will be happy.

This could be Logan from wolverine and the x-men series. They did change the future with help Charles from the future but another apocalyptic future begins. So I wouldn’t doubt they change the future so many time in hope they get a better future but in the process there world got destroyed because of the constant change of there future

Ok this is not the Wolverine we all know from X-Men (2000) to Logan this is a different Wolverine now I have 2 theories of who this version of wolverine is 1 this version of wolverine did not kill jean grey in Last Stand because he loved her too much and in the end she killed all of the other X-Men 2 Casandra Nova the Villain of DP&W and sister to Professor X tricked wolverine that he was fighting villains but in reality she was using him to kill all the X-Men as revenge for Charles killing her in the womb, but hey thats just a theory

I think this Wolverine is the og…hear me out…dofp Wolverine wakes up in a new timeline where he doesn’t have new memories so where did that consciousness go? Two bad movies since End game the rest made BANK BANK. We get it, you are trying to find a way to cry about "the woke" without being laughed at. Marvel has been woke since before you were born. The sooner you accept that the sooner you understand that if you CLAIM to love Marvel you have always loved the woke. You just don't like that you have to WAIT for your favorite characters next movie to come out. I get it. I agree. This trailer feels off and this version of Hugh jackman Wolverine as well. Yeah yeah I get it’s a “different version” of Wolverine but that’s my issue with the multiverse excuse, it gives these non-comic book writers room to make their version of how they want Wolverine to be vs how he should be from the comics. I was never a fan of Hugh coming back especially since he said he was getting older and all this training on his body to play wolverine was draining to his body. So I hope those who enjoy the movie enjoys it but I’ll skip this one like the other MCU movies after endgame.
