I was on a helicopter tour with my wife on Oahu, and the pilot specifically told us to exit out the side, duck, and walk off towards the FRONT of the helicopter towards the ramp off of the pad once we landed. Another couple who joined us on the tour did the opposite and walked out the side and towards the BACK. The pilot almost had an aneurysm because the couple came literally 3 feet away from being turned into ground beef by the tail rotor. The hair on my neck stood up, and I hope that couple realizes how close to death they came to.

I don't understand?? When I went for a helicopter tour they turned off the propellers before anyone got off of them or on. That is too much liability for a company to take on by just giving instructions on how not to get your head cut off . If something happens,, they will be liable. Foolish . There are also children on these tours. There is no way they are going to take chances.

Some of those little blades can kill you. There's a "lost video" of a guy doing a trick with his remote control helicopter (no quite the same as a small drone but almost like a small drone), i think he misjudged or the wind had a negative effect, and it nearly decapitated him but it did kill him.

People are also supposed to exit the helicopter at 45 degrees because if you walk directly in front of the helicopter and the pilot shoved the stick straight forward .... even while standing on the ground the rotor blades would drop to as low as your waist.

The beauty/fashion influencer from Texas got hit by a helicopter propeller after taking a nighttime tour, it may have been during Christmas time, to see the lights, iirc. What’s always struck me (pardon the sick pun) as making it even more tragic, if possible, is how she later explained how she had disembarked the copter and had walked away clear of danger when it occurred to her that she should have thanked the pilot, such a thoughtful, well-mannered young lady, so she turned around to do just that when she accidentally walked into the still-spinning blade. I’m very happy to hear that she’s doing so well, a very strong person. 💓💗

Hi Lamont, I have a story for you...hope you can look into it. This was on real crime spotlight...there is a long version and a short one. This is about a young couple on their first date somewhere in the U.S. Aug 4 2021. Cops stopped Luis Cevallos and passenger Alexis Rodriguez for excessive speeding. He was given a ticket and they were on their way. A few moments later this same car crashed going underneath a tractor trailer going 124 mph. Both were beheaded and came to a stop down a hill in a parking lot and into a cement barrier of some kind. I don't know where in the U.S. this was, but it would be interesting to see your take on it. This impacted a lot of people including police, and would be a story to make people think about speeding. It would be nice to know where their graves are as well.

My dad worked for a well known airline in Canada. And he spent most of the time in the plane's cabin changing repairing replacing windows and passenger seats. Anyhoo I remember him mentioning 2 pretty gory deaths of co workers (not from his own crew )and one was where one guy was in the cockpit the other guy checking and test firing the engine and somehow there was miscommunication between the two and the guy in the cockpit fired up the engine just as the other guy was right at the engine as it started up and got sucked right in. I believe death was instant. The other fatal accident involved a hook of a tow truck can't remember what happened but one worker getting gored to death by the hook.

Fyi a report said: An Air Force team replicated the accident sequence using an MQ-9 parked in the same spot, with the engine running, at the same power setting, with similar twilight lighting conditions, and with airfield ramp stadium lighting - all similar to the conditions present on Sept. 7. During the simulation, the spinning propeller was not visible when looking to the rear of the aircraft from the direction Rodriguez-Cosme had approached. Sounds like it wasn't totally her fault
@Rexag
@Rexag 21 күн бұрын
Oh, those surveillance drones are based at Ellington AFB in Houston...it's not an active base but several squadrons use it and secret drones are one of them. People rely on their sight not thinking the props are spinning so fast you cant see them; people will walk into them. You have to make a point and think to walk way around. On your phone or talking you will forget. Suing isn't an option here. There are clauses in her employment to cover this, certainly.

You hit the nail on the head! She had no situational awareness. And I would bet she either did not take her training around powered up propellers seriously or she was improperly trained. So whose fault is this? When you are going to work on a US Military flight line, the Military should train you and should have provided her an escort and should be aware of the training she had been provided. But this also falls under her company’s contract and I’m sure it is spelled out what training she is required to have and if that training was given and if she passed the training and was signed off on that training. Propellers that are closer to ground level can be hard to see if you are not aware of them and have little training around those aircraft. And from the information given, it’s unclear if she was really familiar being on the flight line and around aircraft with low propellers. There is a flight line supervisor that usually rides around in a vehicle and should be aware of all the personnel who will be going out to all the aircraft on the flight line. I’d like to know if that person was aware of her visit to the drone and if they were near to observe her. Yes I’m a former Air Force aircraft mechanic and spent 13 years on the flight line. This was 100% preventable if she had proper training and supervision. But she was not military and very obviously not properly trained no matter what training she received. That’s the fault of the Military no matter what contract they had with her company, as long as the flight line supervisor had knowledge of her being out there. And it is possible no one informed the supervisor of her visit, but that’s a stretch as they usually do know of all visits to the flight line by contractors. If she was cleared to be out there, she had some training that she was signed off on. That’s where the investigation should start. Thanks for the video. Interesting how you presented it during your walk.
