I know they don’t have weight restrictions on cops for discrimination reasons, but for health and safety reasons they need to be able to run and should periodically train, like athletes and soldiers. At least if they’re going to be in the field and not on permanent desk duty. Field officers should also be paid a lot more.

I think the real hero in this case would be the policeman. After the woman tried to escape the police, the policewoman was seized either by the hit from the woman, or by a seizure so strong that she could not reach the running suspect before she fell on the ground. But the policeman was able to catch up with the suspect and force her down to the ground, before he dressed her in handcuffs. He is strong.

Oh my Lord. I'd be mortified and quit the force after this. These two both absolutely need to be retrained. This is embarrassing. The whole department showing up when he yelled "officer down" when she got shoved, geez. So many problems from beginning to end. Her pat down was so insufficient, girl could have had a gun in her boot and they both would have been dead because neither checked. The fact she got out of the handcuffs made it that more scary that neither did a sufficient body check is that much worse. Hopefully they both got retrained after this embarrassing fiasco.

She didn’t. Most departments are so desperate for staff they are hiring non-licensed officers. Everywhere is doing it. Where I live, as long as you don’t have a record, they will put you in a uniform immediately and send you out. They are literally hiring non-certified officers everywhere and this is what happens.

I’ve gone to City Council meetings throughout the years where new Officers were being sworn in. They’re always in great shape and very good looking. Catch up to some of them a few years later and a belly has formed, their hair is falling out and lines have formed around the eyes. I’m simply proposing that maybe she wasn’t always out of shape and the stress of the job maybe got to her. And if their department is like the one near me there’s a shortage of police so they have to hang onto every Cop no matter how out of shape they appear to be.
