You know I don’t agree with this. Having an addiction and continuing to use even to your detriment is exactly what makes you an addict. Taking accountability for your actions is completely different. You are missing the two things. She showed up! Plus she was immediately honest about using. On top of knowing that she is not a good mother and allowing her children to be with other folks. She also had a job. Soooo yea she is an addict possibly a dealer but she took more accountability than most ppl who come before judge Bryant. It’s amazing how 1 in 4 ppl have issues with addiction and ppl still have no idea what addiction is.

Maybe. I remember buying weed from dealers back before it was mostly legal, and I definitely bought in bulk. Like Costco, or Sam's Club, dealers have bulk buy deals. I liked to get ounces or quarter pounds and just save it up and smoke it over weeks or months. Never sold my personal stash. That way I did not have to see my dealer often. Texas & Florida were never corrupt on an institutional level until the last 7 or 8 years (at least not in recent memory - 1950s/60s to present day).

I love how you cleverly titled this case/video, "Woman left in shock.." and Judge Boyd sentenced her to 'Shock Treatment' I used to watch the program 'Scared Straight ' and I think this defendant will greatly benefit from the experience. I'm hoping she does well because if she's able to be released after six months she will likely develop a sense of gratitude. There's a huge difference between six months and *six years* in prison. Hopefully, after she has the opportunity to reflect on her time behind bars it will instill in her the desire to embrace genuine Recovery as well as the willingness to do anything & everything to avoid serving additional time. Judge Boyd is brilliant in assessing what might help each individual defendant be successful.

I actually like this sentence. As one judge was always fond of saying "The keys to the prison gate are completely in your hands." It is entirely up to her to get her act together in that first six months if she wants to avoid the full six year ride.

Nicely done, Judge Boyd. The defendant is in over her head and needs help. A six- year sentence can become a six-month sentence if she shows a good faith effort.

GOOD. She needs to be taken off the streets and away from her kids, so that an honest effort was made by the court and this woman for rehabilitation. I hope she can put the drugs down, become a good mom, and have a better life for herself and her kids.

The "shock" part of shock probation is when the criminal doesn't know they are being brought back before the 180 days mark to be placed on probation. The point is that they are looking at a long stretch and suddenly they have this opportunity to be on paper and back in society.

Great call on this sentence Judge Boyd ❣️ I can't imagine how someone can use 30 grams of Meth in 2-3 days.... carrying a scale... sounds like a dealer to me. Using Meth before Court on Meth charges because you're stressed??? Smart move...3 kids, two she doesn't have custody of and now Great Grandmother is left to raise her youngest child. Her job was cleaning other people's homes...how many times did she steal from them to support her habit? Judge Boyd 💞💞 you are a Rockstar!

In the UK in the 70s we had the 'Short, Sharp Shock' for young offenders. Three months in a Detention Centre. Very few kids who went to one of those places went to prison later in life. It was *not* a good place to be.

I'm so tired of defendants crying "I really am stressed" instead of just saying they screwed up and made a bad decision. Accountability is really lacking in people, and it's sadder when those people are raising children. Life is often stressful, but that's no reason to handle or use illegal drugs.

She knew she might be arrested at court and wanted to get loaded before that’s why she used. I was a provider in a prison, they do this all the time. They load up if they think it may be their last for a while. So she’s lying saying she only uses occasionally, she’s a regular addicted person that can’t even imagine going one day without.

Sometimes prison is the best thing for addicts. A long time ago, my dumb ass did 4½ years in federal prison and it saved my life and I finally got my shit straightened out. I've been clean and sober ever since, and I haven't even received a parking ticket since then. Hell, I won't even fart in public anymore.
