It's all about the validation. The guy has to be in agony after she tells him that there's nothing, that's why they get all weird when the guy has no feelings. The same with the scenario in which she breaks up the relationship, they get so pissed when we move on and seem better off than when we were together. But as long as there are simps in the world, they will keep getting their validation.
