It's her and mayor too. I spoke to cops and there were told to "do nothing" to fare evaders and homeless. Bass has FINALLY started removing and ticketing druggies and smokers, but allowing many mentally ill to stay on!

I'm actually thinking of quitting my job and leaving LA, because I don't feel safe taking the Metro to work. It's all just rando too, Metro can't be the cops and the mental health and homeless advocates - Metro's job is to get me from A to B without making me late for work. The rest of the government has to step in and start locking up the crazy people. Most of the homeless are on the train and just sleeping - but it's the crazies you have to just.lock.up. That's not something Metro can do.

She should sue. Long Beach is a very unsafe place, especially on the Metro downtown. There is elevated danger in downtown Long Beach. I remember one night being accosted by a man with a knife trying to rob me. Two cops turned the corner in a squad car and told us to get out of the street. They didn’t even notice a street robbery was happening. I am white, he was black. Great police work.

I was nearly attacked on a packed Metro train earlier this year 3pm in the afternoon when i was with my partner by some guy. He came up to me mid stop with a fire burner and put it up to my face whilst mumbling. Not a single person even batted an eyelid but luckily security got on the next stop. I was visited from the UK. I wanted to knock him clean out but was worried he might be strapped. My GF was terrified for the rest of our time in LA on public transport. Feels way more unsafe than it used to be. The place is an serious mess!

its already out of control. the DA in every county district. i thought it was normal because it was so pervasive and regular daily. im glad she sued so everyone realise and wakes up. homeless people are really aggressive because they dont care no more.

Older black citizens from before our generation are better. It's the younger 30 yr olds and below that are more corrupt, dangerous and are thieves. (Most, not all but 90%) Those you need to be watchful. But I agree with you. Go to a neighborhoods with less black and Hispanic ghetto is the thing to do. States like Utah, Idaho, Montana, Dakota, NH, Vermont are better with quality of life standards. 👍

I feel sorry for this person but suing LA Metro is not the solution. In an open society you're going to get good and bad people like was indicated in this video. The assailants and the good people who intervened. It's about finding the people who assaulted her and holding them accountable. You're going to find good, bad, and sick people when you go anywhere in an open society. BTW, it's not the responsibility of the driver to act as law enforcement. That's not their job and they're not trained or paid to do it. And if the driver were to get injured or killed, then what? It just opens a can of worms legally. It's why all these stores that are getting robbed don't want their employees to intervene.

There will always be a certain level of risk as soon as you walk out the front door of your house. Metro isn't the one responsible for this crime. Just like it's not a city's responsibility if someone robs you on the street. It's a fairly basic principle. The focus needs to be on punishing the perpetrators who actually committed the crime.

This happened in May so I'm not sure the additional security officers and ambassadors were deployed across all of Metro at that time. But they are now so I think it is safer than before.
