Yes, I was thinking about Oasis and their inspirations. The claim was they were a Beatles tribute band, but I've never heard that in their best known songs. What always stood out more was the 'mod' inspiration, in their clothes and hairstyles, so I think they probably took more from The Who than the Beatles. Possibly they thought it was better for solidarity as 'northerners' to claim affiliation to the Fab Four.

He is just killing this gig, and rightfully so given the familial relationship with 'Uncle Keith Moon' who I believe bought Zak his first drumset and gave him a few lessons. It is ironic that Keith was a welcome additional father figure in Zak's life because Ringo was a bit absent and suffering through his alcoholic addition. Another interesting factoid is that when Keith The Who at age 17 years old he only drank milk. It was keeping up with John Entwistle and others that his alcohol addiction took ahold of him.

Remember a lovely Townsend story; on the last tour before Entwistle died, they were soundchecking (Miami or somewhere). These guys had already been playing together for about 400 years, so you'd think they'd know what moves each was likely to make. Entwistle did something so completely outrageous and unexpectedly amazing on the bass that the whole band apparently stopped dead, and Townsend said 'what the FUCK was that??', to which Entwistle just grinned.

Mr. Entwistle's bass lines are absolutely fantastic. The way his notes blend into the song, fabulous. It's interesting to note that the lion's share of the left channel is his! Most of the guitars seem to be in the centre and right of it. Amazing musicians! 😎👍🏽

Clive Bindley - You’re right! I was getting confused as it was Zak. Make the Rock Royalty count just 1 then = The Who. I’m not discounting Noel. I actually think Definitely Maybe is one of greatest albums of all time. Morning Glory has 3 good songs on it........and then Noel has spent the past 25 years just regurgitating it all!

OMG! I have died and gone to heaven. This is my all time Who favourite and Noel Gallagher is just "the man" I am a big Oasis fan and Noels guitar style is just unique. If you close your eyes and just listen you instantly know its Noel on guitar. I watched a You Tube video of Oasis on Jools Holland singing Slade`s Come on feel the noise and it had that classic "Oasis" sound. Same as the video on here of Oasis singing Neil Young`s Hey Hey My My.

Noel got to play with one of the greatest musicians who ever lived: John Entwistle. It must've been a bit intimidating, because John never broke a sweat, he just stands there, the greatest, & silently says right, show us your stuff. Pete's my favourite, there'll never be another Pete, but you can't say enough about just how talented John was. And amazingly, Roger's voice is better now than it was in this video from 20 years ago. He's really worked hard to maintain his vocals, his passion for live performance is what keeps this band on the road.

Well done to Noel for having the balls to do this , at least he got a taste of what it's like to play with the really big boys ! instead of ' our kid' ! The Who were very generous to him & Zak Starkey is brilliant !!
