That isolated bass from Shepperton Film Studios, May 25 1978. I listen to that over and over again, and try to play it like that. I've slowed some sections down by 1/4 and still, too many notes and there's no way I can play it. He was and is the all time best.

@Mister Sifter He hasn't accessed any images you moron. He was trying (admittedly stupidly) to prove the site would take payment. You are accusing him of something he hasn't done and using grotty language like "pumping the kids" shows exactly the level of sensitivity you view the issue with. The reason we have a legal system is so that evidence is heard and punishment administered according to the offence. The alternative is ill informed berks like yourself making people guilty on the basis of "because I say they are".

Yes, I was thinking about Oasis and their inspirations. The claim was they were a Beatles tribute band, but I've never heard that in their best known songs. What always stood out more was the 'mod' inspiration, in their clothes and hairstyles, so I think they probably took more from The Who than the Beatles. Possibly they thought it was better for solidarity as 'northerners' to claim affiliation to the Fab Four.

He is just killing this gig, and rightfully so given the familial relationship with 'Uncle Keith Moon' who I believe bought Zak his first drumset and gave him a few lessons. It is ironic that Keith was a welcome additional father figure in Zak's life because Ringo was a bit absent and suffering through his alcoholic addition. Another interesting factoid is that when Keith The Who at age 17 years old he only drank milk. It was keeping up with John Entwistle and others that his alcohol addiction took ahold of him.

So teh next time you guys came to Phoenix, I "DIDN~T get fooled again" and stayed home , enjoyed listening to you guys on the internet recorded in some other city, Saved over $600 and didn`t have to fight traffic. 13 would have been a unlucky number anyway. Oh, My daughter was 23 at teh time, and she has sure been introduced to The Who all her life with her old man cranking them up on his 60`s stero and huge speakers, She said she got off more at home rocking out with dad but still enjoyed the show , and watching dad rock out, admittedly it was not"" the best I ever haaaaaaaaadddddddd!!!!"""No no.I still love you Rog and Pete, Keep it up dudes, and RIP John and Keith, your replacement are great , but they will never be either of you two. From his perspective, being the student of classic rock that he is... he knew it was an opportunity to cement his reputation among the greats, and he was really on point. Remember a lovely Townsend story; on the last tour before Entwistle died, they were soundchecking (Miami or somewhere). These guys had already been playing together for about 400 years, so you'd think they'd know what moves each was likely to make. Entwistle did something so completely outrageous and unexpectedly amazing on the bass that the whole band apparently stopped dead, and Townsend said 'what the FUCK was that??', to which Entwistle just grinned.

Not to take away from your story, but great musicians do that to each other all the time. The two guitars complement each other perfectly. Noel's thick Les Paul lead sound with Pete's thin Strat Rhythm style. I've seen other Who videos of live concerts & they're missing this element even when they have another guitarist on stage.

The highlight of Noel's career, even by his own admission. He said; 'Pete Townsend, a bone fide rock guitar legend and me, the guitarist in Oasis only because I was the only one who could play guitar'. Respect Noel, that night you knew you was playing with the greatest Rock and Roll band in history. A fantastic rendition of the greatest rock song in history.

I never liked Oasis myself but applaud Noel who is perhaps a better guitarist than a songwriter, particularly as his songs were sung poorly by his brother, sliding around the notes for example.Mike Post turned Wonderwall Into a good song with his arrangement and vocal accuracy. I must say though Noel appeared grateful to be up there with The Who and he went up in my estimation after this performance. I've seen the Who at least 14 times and lost count and they have never failed to give value for money. Professional throughout their long lifespan and always in touch with their audience.

Noel got to play with one of the greatest musicians who ever lived: John Entwistle. It must've been a bit intimidating, because John never broke a sweat, he just stands there, the greatest, & silently says right, show us your stuff. Pete's my favourite, there'll never be another Pete, but you can't say enough about just how talented John was. And amazingly, Roger's voice is better now than it was in this video from 20 years ago. He's really worked hard to maintain his vocals, his passion for live performance is what keeps this band on the road.
