This documentary came out soon after my mom had a nearly life-ending stroke. The second Fred spoke of people who’ve smiled us into smiling, talked us into talking, etc … it hit me like a bolt of lightning right in the chest. Truly one of the most honest, heartfelt scenes I’ve ever watched.

It is so hard not to get through this scene without crying like a baby, I thought of my former pastor who has always been an uncle figure to me. He has been friends with my parents since they were all kids and graduated high school with them. He also officiated my parents' wedding. He even made national news when he allowed local Muslims to worship at our church facility

This part made my dad cry. It was the first time in my 30 years I ever saw him cry.

I believe Mister Rogers, would just carry on and be there for those that need him. And today's people would hate him for it. They expect him to pick a side. They expect him to agree with an individual idea, neither knowing or caring about what he's truly about. As he himself would say "I like you just the way you are." and he would continue to like the world no matter how grim things get. He didn't merely die. Today's world merely just sent him away because it didn't deserve him. Nor did any part of the world that came before it.

I kept tearing up during this movie and this part just pushed me over

It made me think of my father. My father and my grandparents always spoke of how dearly he and my aunt loved Mr. Rogers growing up. I endured a lot of cruelty and brutality my entire childhood, and most of it was by his hand. He was not a good person and he didn't like that I was autistic and thought he could knock the weird out of me. I always wonder how someone who looked up to a man like Fred so much could turn out to be such a horrible person. It truly saddens me because I still love him. Maybe one day we'll get better.

Last of a dying breed. Mr. Rodgers you spoke to a lot of children including myself you showed children the power of kindness and helping one another. As one of the last generations to experience your contagious spirit speaking for us all thank you for being our neighbor Mr.Rodgers.

As a 14 year old right now, my parents got me to watch this movie I loved it, and some parts of the movie made me tear up and this scene made break down in tears. I wish i could've watched Mr. Rogers sooner.

I still remember seeing this in the theater last year with my 80-year-old grandfather, who I had known my whole life as a man with two emotions: joy, and brief frustration. He wasn't always patient, and sometimes the wrong words came out; being a kid I saw a man who got angry a lot. As I got older, I began to realize that I somewhat exaggerated his emotional responses, and rarely picked up the emotion behind his voice. In that theater as we watched this scene, I looked over to see a wide smile on his face, and a twinkle in his eye larger than I had seen before. As we walked out after the movie, with both of us being the type to never speak on our emotions to each other, all we could utter was "good movie." But I could tell he was touched by the genuine kindness that Mister Rogers placed in those who watched him, and while our "good movie" quip on the surface seemed like an understatement, I remember both of us were silent for about five minutes before finding something else to talk about. In my 23 years of life up to that point, I had never seen a movie affect my grandfather like that, and I saw the third emotion I didn't think existed as a kid.

I'm only eleven, so I've never seen an episode of when it originally aired, but, Mr Rogers has had an impact on my life. He's taught me how to control anger, how to love, how to be nice, and how to not look at the outside, but to look at the inside. Every time I watch a Mr. Rogers episode, after he sings , I cry because I know that Fred Rogers will never ever be there on the air again, and he can't offer his wisdom, and he can't talk to me, but then I remember that he will always be in our hearts and minds forever. There will never ever be a person with the same level of kindness and caring as Mr Rogers. May he rest in peace and may his life and work be brought to a growing number of children. God bless him.

Most of the parts of the movie made me choke up. We need more Mister Rogers, but Fred is irreplaceable.

There's so many times people will kick us down in this life and kick us down when we're already down but when we think about that question Fred Rogers asks 1:56... Those who smiled us into smiling, talked us into talking, sung us into singing; those past or present or in Heaven form a tribe around us and it's so strong we can't easily be kicked down again. What are "we" going to do? I think Mister Rogers would like us to become apart of someone's tribe; be apart of their minute, the reason they say "Thank you. You helped me along the way".

I saw this with my best friend when it was in theaters. We've shared a lot of times together, but rarely a lot of emotions. After this film ended, we were completely silent. We left the theater, and about 2 minutes went by without words. I knew that we were both still trying to recover from this film, I know I had tears in my eyes. Finally he pointed out something funny on the street, and our silence went away. It will always be a moment I cherish forever. The value of a quiet minute (or two in this case).

There are days I wish I could sit out in that field with Mr Rogers. With all the things of this world, all of my failures, embarrassments, selfish thoughts, and disappointments left far away. With the wind blowing across across my head, and the ocean in the distance. Sitting with an Angel. Of course all I have is here and now. Though in this here and now, he left behind so many wonderful things, and messages. No human is ever perfect, we all have our flaws and shortcomings, but he truly was a legendary human being who inspired so many, and continues to inspire more to this day.

I think he’d mainly try to focus on the positive/human side of things especially with what transpired these past 20 years but honestly seems very difficult to wrap your head around certain things

This is my mom’s account, so this is her son typing. But, When I watched this, I actually thought about an “extra special person” in my life. There was this girl in 7th grade, who was cute, but was very kind to me also, polite, consoling, and supportive. She wasn’t a girlfriend mind you, but I honestly think that she treated me more nicely than anyone else ever could. She always said hi when you walked in the classroom, she wanted to get her picture taken with you, shared her Doritos at lunchtime. In 8th grade, she stopped being like that, it’s partly my fault cause I kept stalking her in the hallways but it was autism related. Time heals a lot of wounds. Last year, on Memorial Day weekend, me and my mom went to some garage sales, and this girl was having one, so I showed up, and thankfully there was none of this mellow dramatic hugs and tears, but we had a very friendly, short, quiet conversation about what I’ve been up to and I told her a little bit about my girlfriend, although I didn’t buy anything from her garage sale. Lol.

I thought about my ex fiance and friend, Joe. He was a good man. I miss him everyday...

I thought of my 7th grade science teacher, i wasn't put in the best of classes, most of my classmates were what you called bad kids, they always did everything to get under people skin and since i was put in their class most teachers thought the same way about me. Then during one the hardest moments in my life i tried to distance myself from everyone, i filled with so much pain and anger but i bottled it up because i didnt want to be another bad kid. I dont know how she saw it but she saw it, one day she tells me to stay behind while everyone else left for either their next class or lunch, we were the last class for her schedule so it was just me and her, i expected for her to tell me i did something wrong or i am failing her class but all she said was "you dont seem like yourself, is everything ok?" She was the first person actually ask me that, i just broke down right there, i told her everything about what was happening, how i felt, how i just wanted it to stop. She listened and when i was done she put her on my shoulder and said "its ok that you're feeling that way" i will never forget her, i wish i could go back to that school and hug her tight and say that she helped me but she left the school a year or two after i entered high school, i dont know where she is but i hope that whereever she is, there is someone that can be there for her when she needs it

Man, I'm a bit sentimental of my family and when he said "think about someone that imspired u" or something like that, I'm crying still, the one that imspired me to do good was my great aunt she was the most sweetest woman on earth I miss her so much.

Never been part of such a collective emotional experience such as the end of this film was. Not only did this movie sell out a theater, it ended with an entire theater of grown adults sobbing in their seats. And not a single person was sad. Everyone cried as they remembered the kindnesses that others showed them that changed the course of their lives. Everyone realized that as dark as things can get sometimes, there are always people trying to be kind to one another and that realization gave everyone courage.

Not a single elementary school teacher, but a few in middle school and a Librarian in High School and then I had great Professors in my Undergrad. I wish I'd had at least one person like Fred Rogers when I was little to set me on good path towards healthy self esteem. Sadly I didn't watch his show regularly, now I wish I had.

There's a divide today because we've made it that way, nobody want's to be accountable for their words/actions, and both sides are guilty of it, and until that is addressed sadly I see no end in sight to the divide currently happening. It's easy to point fingers, and ignore faults within ourselves, or what we believe in, but until we do, nothing will improve. It's easy to support like-minded people like ourselves, it's difficult to listen to another persons point of view. That doesn't mean you have to always like those views, or even embrace them, but you have to at the very least allow each side to speak.

I thought of my aunt and uncle. My Spanish teacher and his wife. My late grandparents and dog.

Thank you God for sending us an amazing person. I pray that he is up in heaven giving you all the praise and glory and dancing freely.

When I watch this and see the protests going on, I look at how many people who are protesting versus how many people who are rioting. I'd like to think the people who are protesting outnumber the people who are rioting. The majority of the people who are protesting just want to protest in peace. They can't control the people who turn violent.

There are two people in this world at first I hated them at first I resented them there were times where we never spoke to each other there were times we had an argument and did not want to talk to each other there was even times where we were just wanted to keep the distance between us and to me that felt like hatred and those two people that I resented for no apparent reason who is my father and my stepmother I hope that they will one day read this comment because the reason I hated them the reason I was so negative towards him it's because really I'm hitting myself I put all this hatred and burden and upon themselves and this is not a pity party or anything like that this is more of a truth from the heart they do not deserve any hatred or negative emotions or anything like that what they do know and what they do deserve his laughter enjoy knowing that we are here but they're not the only two people that I resented I resented my mother and my stepfather I kept myself isolated from them and to tell you the truth and I'm very certain that God knows this too I have done some terrible things in my life things I will never even be proud of choices that I've made that are and will always be considered uneasy but I hope right now and from now on until the day I die I hope that I make better choices in life become a more positive and open-hearted person and to ask God for his forgiveness to those that are reading this comment I hope that you pray and not just for me but for those that are struggling with life those that are not in the greatest mood so those that want to turn against their parents I want them to do one thing I want them to talk to God and tell them whatever it is that you're going through I'll let you know this that you are never alone I'll tell you why because from the moment you were born to the adulthood that's your face now God has always been there for you and when he made you he made you beautiful inside and out he gave you hope when you didn't even notice it through all the hardship through all the horrible days there will always be hope tell me what my pastor said in a church I went to yesterday there is always hope and I believe that if we all open our hearts and stay with our families and I'm talkin live with them but I'm talking about keeping a connection so strong that you would just easily say I want to go back to God I wish for his forgiveness and I wish to accept Jesus Christ his son our Lord and our savior into our hearts because that is what we need we need God we need Jesus Christ in our hearts and we need hope and to top that off we are to make good thoughts we are to say the right words as well as good words and to do not right by us but by others in other words make good deeds and that is what Fred Rogers has taught us I believe in all sense and term he was touched by God he has helped hundreds and millions of children to become better people and that is what I believe help will always be given to those when they ask for it that was a quote from Harry Potter and it is true and always was true.
