Stam Fine remembers the iconic 70's Wonder Woman TV show starring Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner. It started off set in WWII, then moved networks and the setting was updated to the late 70s (when the show was made) with the same cast.
(video title updated to reflect the last year the show was produced)

That's a fair point. That said, a lot of the real classics of the 70s-80s are as cheesy as WW- Knight Rider, Six Million Dollar Man, Buck Rogers, The A-Team. Of them, only Buck Rogers wears tights. And maybe Templeton Peck.

It was always a live action cartoon. A comic book come to life as the animated openings showed. Stills animated. Animation came to life. It looked like it was drawn. The movie and two specials of the first season were lifted straight from the comics with slight changes tied to real World War II history. The episodes of the two series continued that to some extent with some based on movies. A little comic book mixed with something real. It was never intended to be more than a fun live action comic book with a little "if you weren't careful you might just learn something". It was also designed to complement reading the comic books not replace it.

@@StamFine "Wonder Woman", on the other hand, was a family show from which everyone in the living room could find something to enjoy. Many of the action shows of the period and for some time afterwards was very much geared towards boys and younger men. Surely Wonder Woman's cross-appeal led to the show's endurance in a way that the other shows you mentioned haven't lingered in the public's memories.

I fell in love with Lynda Carter as a kid. Now fast forward to the year, 2001, I had a girlfriend who looked a little like Lynda Carter, she had her eyes, her smile. Sadly, May of 2021 I lost her from a massive heart attack. She left behind 4 of her kids who were all married and have kids of their own, and her Mom that is still living. But in 2003 we broke up but in 2017 I found her again through Facebook and remain friends up until her passing. My life has not been the same since she's been gone, I still loved her and I think she was liking me all over again as well. So the television Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter will always be my favorite. Plus, Lynda Carter's birthday and mine are the same, July 24th. And my old girlfriend who past away, hers July 31st.

I prefer the 1970s episodes. The Nazi enemy got too boring. I like the set-up for Diana as a confident agent rather than Yeoman Prince following dopey about. Lynda's performance just got better with every season. She did some of her own stunts, including the risky hanging from a helicopter, which she wasn't authorized to do. One of the stunt women couldn't perform the stunt (injured or something) and Lynda just did it to save time. She later got told off for it! You show the shot in video. Anyway, good overview.

Got The first series on DVD. Remember both the Cathy Lee Crosby Movie and The Linda Carter Pilot being shown on ITV in the 1970's early 80's Then BBC bought the 1970's set 2nd season

When I was a kid, I knew summer had arrived when the TV started showing reruns of Wonder Woman at 10am. I miss the simplicity of the old costume, since every superhero costume now has to look like it was designed by an AI looking through a kaleidoscope.
