To promote Speed Racer's 2008 theatrical release, Warner Brothers released a standalone DVD of an in-universe documentary about the Racer family.

Yeah. The bonus features breathe more life into the movies we watch. Come to think of it, you can argue that the movie’s themes are similar to how streaming platforms affects the movie industry

I absolutely love how this documentary still has the editing style of the movie with the people moving in and out of frame when a screen transition This movie is truly something amazing.

The worldbuilding in this half hour long mockumentary is insane. The fact that the events of this movie would've never happened had Nitro not been drunk when Speed was at Thunderhead is wild 😂

I know from research it was panned at launch for being not realistic in a time where that's the slop people wanted. As well as being inbetween Iron Man and Crystal Skull. But in my opinion this movie is way better than either of those, it is truly something unique and taken for granted.

i thought i’ve experienced all the media there is for this movie, this was so awesome! especially seeing a lot of racers who don’t have any good high resolution photos anywhere

If this film wouldn't have under performed at the box office with a better release date, it would've garner a follow up sequel. But it was the closest adaptation we got from that time period. 👍👍

This makes me wonder if this mockumentary is supposed to take place prior to the movie? Because some of these characters would've said completely different things considering what had happened in the movie. But then some of what these characters say feels like stuff that could only be said after the events of the movie. 🥴
