A less-known fact about Italy is that it has a free wine fountain! In the small town of Caldari di Ortona, in the Abruzzo region, a fountain dispenses red wine 24/7. The fountain was created by a local vineyard in collaboration with a non-profit organization. It's free for everyone taking the Cammino di San Tommaso pilgrimage. Wonderful video. A suggestion to people planning to visit Italy: if you have the opportunity please don't limit your experience to Rome, Florence and Venice. For example Siena and Lucca are not very far from Florence and I'm sure you won't regret the detour.

I watch All of it & thoroughly enjoyed it !! I have only visited Rome, Remini , San Benedetto Del Tronto & a few small towns in Abruzzo region. My Hubby & I gotta go back & enjoy some of the beautiful towns on this list !!! We got more Grounds to cover 💯💯💯.

In the 70ies I had the luck to spend several months as a guest of the family of my pen pal in the wonderful city of Verona. The first time I went to visit these charming persons I was surprised by the fact that the locals spoke a dialect in such a big city, but with time I learned some expressions and vocabulary. I am French, my pen-pal came several times in my family in the city of Saint-Étienne and in the countryside near the city of Le Puy-en-Velay. He enjoyed very much France and our cuisine, as I did for italian pasta and gelati... 😋 I studied Italian at the university for some years, but I specialized in Arabic language and litterature. But I still enjoy reading in Italian. Recently I read Il Deserto dei Tartari by Dino Buzzati, which I found amazing.
