Wood Carving a Brook trout

Күн бұрынIn this video I'll be carving a miniature brook trout. Although it took me far less hours to complete than my normal projects it still took around 50 hours over a 10 day period but I decided to edit the video for a one part series. I plan on doing several more miniatures in the near future so I basically started this one for a practice round.
I wasnt real happy with the final paint job and plan on repainting it.

This carving turned out absolutely beautiful! Great technique with the scale tips early on and covering that detail with the green wash. It gives a nice sense of depth. Nice work as always!

Thanks, I wasn’t real happy with the vermiculation and spots. I think they were too big in relation to the body size so I am going to repaint it. 😝

You’re welcome. I’ll be starting a life size rainbow trout in a couple weeks. I have some not so glamorous habitat bases to make in the meantime. But it’s part of it😜

Wow! This needs more attention, your work is very clean and nice looking. Brookies are my favorite trout to catch just for the colors, appreciate the video!

No it’s tueplo. I pretty much use it for all my carvings.

Thank you! I use a Foredom SR and just recently bought a Marathon high speed rotary tool for fine detail work. I use Kutzall burrs and I have various brands of diamond bits of all shapes and sizes.
