We had a couple warm weeks that melted all the snow away and softened the ground. A couple days before the next snow, we got another delivery of wood pellets.

Great video with both locos running. Liked the rails flexing under the weight of the cars, that was a nice shot.

Good day sir. Fantastic video. I had to laugh when I saw you put the F.R.E.D ( Flashing Rear, End Device) on to the end of the train. Funny stuff sir. Again fantastic video.

Old blinky FRED was feeling lonely, so I put him on the back of the train. I really only need the thing when I'm running after dark so I don't trip on the last car.

I don't know why, but I had a very strong sense of déjà vu watching this. Didn't you ship those pellets in a previous video? The biggest clue to that was yesterdays video showing the (quote) unusable railroad in the midst of the "thaw". 🫨 Bad, bad omen! Black cat (3:45) crossing the path of the train! Doesn't that portend a derailment? OOPS! I forgot! This IS the Mill Brook! 🥶 Love ❤️ the vids!

the video shot from 13:23 until 15:00 is a very good perspective of the train and cars being pulled along its way. The depth of scale is near perfect in showing the size of each cars load as it pertains to the Loco's size and its ability to get the job done. The stack of the load heights as to the Locos size is what would be expected, given if it was a true scale up. It certainly lends to the realism with the rate of travel that would be expected for a train to be pulling a loaded set of cars. As a side note I would like to offer a suggestion as to the Painting of the R&R's naming and perhaps a Logo that could accompany it. It seems to me that "Batman" has a genuine interest in the R&R and is always on hand to be sure the job goes smoothly. Perhaps a silhouette of a Black Cat sitting at the front of the Name Mill Brook Railway would add a nice Flair to the appearance of the Logo, as well as incorporating a uniqueness to the R&R. thus adding to the Idea that it is a Family owned, run, and operated business. Sticking with that idea of a family run R&R perhaps Naming each engine would again incorporating a family feel to it all , a smaller printing of personalized naming of them to show all that are involved in the Day to Day operation of the R&R. The Main Engine would of course would be called "Aaron" ( I hope I spell these names right ) and the secondary Engine could be called Jonathon. This is by far the best video you have posted to date and your skills in setup and execute of these shots just keeps getting better and better . .., Nicely Done Good Sir .... Nicely Done ... :)

I have to admit I may not have been paying total attention....is there a science or just school of leaning pellet bags regarding why you loaded the bags horizontally across the flat car next to the locos and then the other two flat cars are lined up perpendicular? I learned after moving to the South that you would "mash" that like button.
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad Жыл бұрын
The 105 is a wider car than the 101 and 102. I load the 105 so the load is wider, which means I can put more pellets on it without making the load as top heavy as it would be if I loaded the bags longitudinally. The 101 and 102 are narrower cars and would tear the bags if I loaded them sideways.

When unloading, why do you always put the train on the main rather than use the passing siding? Wouldn't it be easier to have the cars closer to the shed for less steps? Great video though, love when you run "big" trains with MUed power! You should throw the tank car on sometime, just for added effect :)
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad Жыл бұрын
I've been using the main more lately because of track conditions. The siding has so many frost heaves right now that things don't stay coupled.

Did you ever consider placing another siding by the sugar shack and installing a carport structure so you could yard those flat cars under cover as opposed to lugging them in and out? As Lawrence Welk would have said wunnerful wunnerful run.

How heavy are the flat cars? Locomotives? Thanks
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad Жыл бұрын
The EBT 105 flat car weighs about 110 lbs empty. The MLBK 101 and 102 weigh about 60 lbs each empty, and the locomotives weigh in at 200 for the 70 and 210 lbs for the 71. Each bag of wood pellets weighs 40 lbs. We fit 12 bags each on the MLBK 101 and 102, and EBT 105 can take up to 25 bags. This particular run had 45 bags of pellets, weighing in at 1800 lbs. So, the total train weight was 2440 lbs, or 1107 kg. That's one short ton plus 440 pounds. I realize that's more than you asked for, but my inner geek came out, and I got carried away with the computation.
