So glad I found this as I'm days away from pulling the trigger on the Woodpecker lift. This is a great tutorial, thanks so much for taking the time to post this Ron!

Thanks Ron!!!! This is simple but I inherited one already put together and your explanation helped me immensely. It's not working like I think it should so now when I get home today I know exactly what to look for. Thanks!!!

I've got the 3 1/4 HP Porter Cable 7518 router and it is possible to do bit changes above the table without the offset wrenches.

Hey Ron, great hands on demo of this lift. It is not clear in the product info (WP site) whether routers can be swapped by changing out the mounting pads, which they sell separately. Is that the case? I currently have the WP table and fence, (minus plate or lift) and want to setup using my PC 690 series routers. I also want the possibility for an eventual upgrade to use the larger PC 7518-2. Can that be done without buying two lifts?)

Love the video, already built a modified version of your table. Just bought the same lift. Did you bolt the lift down with the 4 corner holes, or does it stay in place without them? Thanks

no bolts, I just drop it in and it stays

Another great video Ron, thank you. I apologize for posting this here, but don't know how else to get in touch. If you're interested in selling your previous router plate, I'm very interested... my first Paulk Workbench II is ready to assemble, just need the router plate!

I will hang onto my plates, I have 3 Woodpeckers plates plus the lift. I plan on picking up a few more large routers so I can have multiple setups for the big complex jobs.

Hello Ron I have Kreg PRS3000 (A sentenced Woodpeckers PRL-V2) Since new (approx 9 years ago), I have noticed that the fine adjust height adjuster is extremely stiff to fine adjust. BTW I too am using the Milwaukee 5625 motor. Woodpeckers is currently working with me on that issue by providing me with a new lift nut. I noticed in your video, when installing the 414 motor pads, you were using the 2nd set of slots to secure the pads. My pad installation instructions indicated using the 1st set of slots? Are my instructions incorrect? Just wondering if this could be the cause of the stiffness of the lift micro adjust thumwheel. Grasping at straws!!! Thanks...Wayne

That was a great explanation Ron. Do you think those set screws that adjust the height of the plate to the table will dig into the plywood?

I have been using the Woodpeckers router plates for decades and they have worked flawlessly with my benches and no sign of digging into the ply.

@@TheSmartWoodshop that's great just wasn't sure about those adjustment screws. Such a nicely built router plate.

@@TheSmartWoodshop thank you for the video! A very detailed description, that helps a lot. I want to order that lift, BUT i live in Russia, and NONE of the recommended by woodpeckers routers are present on our market. We use a metric system and the closest router diameter that I found here is 3,93701inch (100mm) what is 0.21 inch less than 4.15 declared by the lift manufacturer. Want to ask you if the screws that press the blocks are long enough to hold a 3.93" router? And will the body of the lift allow those block to squeeze a smaller diameter router?

for only $800 you too can have one just like this.

No kidding! a lift built like a Rolls Royce and a solid 3 1/2 hp router for just under $800, I don't know how they do it. I would expect it to be in the $1,200-$1,500 range.

@@TheSmartWoodshop Ron Paulk Touche, It's all a matter of perspective. You own your own business and make mucho dinero (assuming). I work for someone else and could never even think of spending that much money on a router configuration. We haven't even priced in the fence yet, or router bits. But I still love your videos and I have bought your plans and have built the total work station. and at my bosses expense we have begun to build the awesome rolling toolbox in his box truck. I do plan on getting a cheaper router insert to mount a router into my work station some day. I have been looking on ebay. Thanks for all you do for us on youtube keep up the good work. Oh and I had an idea i'm going to incorporate into the truck build. One of the banks of drawers will be the width of the center section of the total work station. Then I'm going to make a drawer that will fit in that center section of the work station and also the bank of drawers in the truck. That way when I set up the work station I remove the drawer from the truck and slide it into the work station and when I put the work station back in the truck I take the drawer out and put it back in the drawer I have built in the truck to keep for the next job. If I don't use my work station I still have access to the tools. I will keep tools to square up the miter box, Measuring tools, extra note pads, things like that in that drawer. What do you think.
