I spotted some of these at Walmart one year but didn't get them. After reading up on them, I hated I didn't. Since then, I ordered a couple from Chestnut Hill Tree Farm, and I'm glad I did. My five-year-old and I planted them, and we plan to show the clip in his first deer hunt (2018-2019 Season). I had to cut down several Sweet Gum Trees so they'd have enough light, but it'll be well worth it. Who knows... there might even be some romance in the air in the years to come. Thanks, men!

I have about 40 Chinese hybrids on our 6.5 acres, SE Virginia. We had a large harvest last year. WE sell them or give to friends. Asian markets want them and a demand is there. Now, a waiting list. The Koreans have over 1000 recipes for the nuts. They grind them for flour or meal. We also set aside 2 trees for wildlife. Please make another video. The husks are actually called, burrs.

78yr old countyboy. Would you like to plant some of your Chestnut trees on my ranch above the Salmonriver, here at White Bird, Idaho?.

Where are you in NY? I'm originally from Northern New York, but far from there now.

Where would I find the genetic testing results that show how much American these trees have in them?

That was a major food source for deer in upstate Ny many years ago. Which translated into better deer health and antler growth. Those trees are all gone now. Which is truly sad.

All my Dunstan died of blight on year 2 and 3. So I've ordered Chinese chestnuts to plant this winter. They dont blight.
@Qingeaton Жыл бұрын
Not only that, but the quality is likely going to be higher. I have a friend who sells his nuts to a co-op in Illinois and they pay less for Dunstan than for other random Chinese nuts.

The American chestnut had a sweeter flavor and higher fat content than the Chinese. They were also smaller for the animals to eat.
