So beautiful in all its simplicity. 😺 I love watching all kinds of turning videos just for fun and to relax my mind. I would actually want to start wood turning now that I recently retired. But I live in an apartment and have absolutely no facilities or knowledge of how to start. I will continue watching it on KZfaq instead. And I am so happy to finally have found a female wood turner! Wow! I thought I was the only female interested in this 😸

I turn, but only on weekends since I am still gainfully employed. I enjoy watching others turn, especially women, since this is a male dominated field. Watching someone do woodturning is therapeutic and relaxing for me. I also watch for ideas and tips/explanations. I feel like some of the other turners have gotten so comfortable with their turning and video uploads, that they cut from their videos what a beginner needs to see. Keep turning. Nice piece

Don’t you worry about the knockers, half of them probably haven’t even worked with a lathe, you’re the one putting yourself out there for all those negative people to badmouth you and not do it themselves! Keep on punching girl, the people that support you far out weigh the ones that don’t!👍❤ I watch because I like watching people turn wood and hopefully I might learn something along the way, thanks!

My eyes bugged out when I saw that crack! From looking at the final bowl, it went most of the way through the blank. Very scary! Regarding PPE: Do you think wearing a face shield is going to make any difference if that thing hits you in the face? Hint: It won't. I've seen a hole in a garage door that a blank went through, and I've seen the black, purple, and blue chest of an old dude that was hit by half a bowl. And a hole knocked in a cinder block wall. The danger is real. I'm an old guy with well over 40 years experience in woodworking and turning. I'm not a safety nazi. Ain't no pussy either. I would hate to see you or anyone else get hurt. That's all.

Hey Peggy! I just found your channel because KZfaq recommended one of your videos to me. I enjoy watching wood turning videos because I find them quite relaxing, but I don't do any wood turning myself. I have been wanting to find more female woodworkers to watch because I feel like all the channels I keep finding are by men. I really like how you included some information about how and why you were doing what you were doing with such a calm voiceover. The bowl turned out beautifully and I would have loved to see even more shots of the finished piece. But I also wanted to say that I almost didn't click on this video because the thumbnail wasn't giving me any indication of what the video would be about. I almost scrolled past, but I'm glad I didn't, and now I'm subscribed to your channel!

I hear ya! My priority is the grain, and if there is a crack, I work to make it the focal point. I often do the Epoxy with gold to simulate the Japanese artform of breaking pottery, and inlaying real gold in the resulting cracks. It's your art - You're doing great.

Peggy, this bowl is amazing. The eye candy green is perfect juxtaposition with the lighter wood. Your final images were reversed from the earlier portions; NOT CRITICISM but confusion on my part. Periodically I do something random with my camera and get a surprise image flip. I watch your channel to understand the possibilities of a lathe. I used to manipulate wood into artistic and useful items. In my 40’s I committed wedlock and my world changed. I no longer participate with wood working but do admire and appreciate your manipulation, artistry and craftsmanship. Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace Peggy

@@PFWoodturning You are welcome. In my day we didn’t have resin or even polymer plastic but I would save saw and sanding dust, mixing it with wood glue powder and water to make a filling paste. Today you and wood artisans like you embrace the cracks and imperfections, filling with “eye candy” and highlighting them. You are a blessing to your students and others watching your channel. Peace

Greetings from New Zealand. Good for you for not giving up on it just because you find a crack in it. One way to lessen the risk is to give it a rough turning while it is still green. Then give it a coat of sealing paint. This will even out the speed of the drying process.

Been turning a few years now. Started watching you before I started though. There’s just something hypnotic and soothing about watching turning, then I happened to take it up myself. Lol 😂. One thing I do on resin crack fills like you did, is I’ll use cut up milk jugs hot glued up the crack. It’ll help resin stay in place and not use a whole lot. I didn’t see the other video where people were scolding you in turning cracked wood, but I’d say forget them. Bowls breaking apart happens. At least you were wearing all your protective gear. Love seeing you back at it.

Nice work peggy! I'm currently working on an elm bowl from a dead, blown down tree on our farm. It was cracked as well but had such nice figuring I couldn't throw it in the burn pile. I filled the cracks exactly how you did but the cracks weren't quite as large as yours. The outside looks great! I will start on the inside today. I'm hoping it turns out as nice as yours. Thanks for posting and keep up the good work!!

I enjoy watching other turners and pick up hints and tricks when I can. The last part of the video had me confused because I've never seen a Laguna Revo set up with the controls on the right side. When you showed the Acks and it was reversed, that explains the turned around lathe. Good job on the bowel.

When I started turning a couple of years ago, I watched all turning videos I could find, but now I subscribe to so many, I don't have time to watch everything. So I watch only those such as yours in which the turners talk to me and explain what they're doing and why. Technical note: When you use your phone in selfie mode, it's a mirror image and all text is backwards.

Hi 👋, Peggy, I hope you are keeping safe and well, a great looking 👀 bowl, I have seen turner’s put duck 🦆 tape around there projects, I would not classed me as a wood turner, but I have done some in the past, I’m retired, specialist Joiner carpenter cabinet maker. I have had things flow apart on the lathe, I was trying to make a thin walled bowl, and because of the centrifugal force it tried to or did open up and disintegrated, I think I might be going too fast, luckily I’ve got a face shield on so no damage done, I do find watching yourself and other people woodturning it is very therapeutic relaxing 😎, 😂 . I think that you should invest in a smock to protect yourself from damage, it is very nice to seeing you as you are, 😂 , that is because I don’t see anybody four weeks at a time, as I live by myself in the French countryside, so please stay safe. Keep up the great work the bowl looks amazing , I hoping to buy some resin later in the year. For some wood turning projects, I have 2 Lathes a Wadkin RS8 and Kontour 1500A . I can’t seem to get myself motivated, to go and do anything. But love, watching people like yourself doing projects.. stay safe. Keep up the great work. Look forward to next project.. @@PFWoodturning Hi 👋, Peggy, thank you for your reply, The moulin still needs a lot money and work done on it , the biggest problem is the roof, it as storm damage from last September, it is a very big job, because of the size of the moulin it is going to take a long time, my ex I purchased it back in 2013. It was an empty shell most of the beams on the first floor. I had to replace them laying new floors are built the bedrooms, shower rooms and bathrooms, large kitchen, utility room, lounge and dining room, some of the walls still need plaster, boarding and skimming, I have quite a large garden will it runs alongside the river that used to power the moulin, I’ve been living permanently in here now for the last four years by myself, The idea of the property that I had just recently people could come here and I could teach them how to make furniture or even just relaxing in the garden. Hopefully something for the future . One of my biggest problems is I don’t speak French, . Keep up the great work, stay safe, I look 👀 forward to seeing your next project. Phil from the moulin France

Hi Peggy I turn myself, kinda new at it still, so all of the above, I enjoy your videos and I learn from them as well. When you have a bowl with a big crack have you ever thought of binding it with a wooden dowel, just drill across the crack and glue in a dowel, makes a nice feature
