Woodturning - Big, Spalted & Beautiful

Welcome to today's woodturning project! I made a lidded bowl from this big and spalted log. I combined it with red/pink resin, which became yellow after turning it (don't know why). I finished the project with danish oil.

Wowza! That Spalted wood is amazingly beautiful! The resin goes well with the wood. I love this bowl and the fact that you made a lid for it makes me love it that much more!! Beautiful piece!!

@@m2086v While blue is an attractive color it is a cold color and clashes with the warm colors of most woods.

Very nice. You mentioned in the description about it yellowing after applying oil. I’ve had similar issues on spalted wood when I’ve used tung oil. Is Danish oil a tung blend? I don’t know. Interestingly I have noticed linseed oil didn’t yellow the wood the same as the tung oil did. I’m still experimenting as relatively novice but thought I’d pass on my observation in case you wanted to try it too. It might be nothing to do with the type of oil at all.
