Woodturning - What Could It Be?!

I made a snowman for Christmas 2021 so I only thought it was right to make one for this year too. The body of the snowman is made from Wild Cherry, sanded to 1500 grit and finished with sanding sealer and wood wax. The top hat is made from a piece of Yew crotch from my garden, which is sanded to 10000 grit and finished with wood wax, and the nose is made from Teak sanded to 5000 grit and finished with sanding sealer and wood wax.

...I like that you added a little extra character to the snowman...so it gets the edge over the tree... What I really like is that you repurpose part of your tree into something memorial for the future...👍 Matt

Awesome piece of art! What is the purpose of rubbing the shavings while it's still on the lathe? Sorry, I'm a newbie.

Thanks for watching! The shavings help to smooth off and buff the sanding sealer, otherwise, it can end up streaky. And no need to apologies, ask as many questions as you want. Would you like to see me make another snowman next year? 😁👍

naaah didn't look that great looked like something we would do in school when I was 12 years old. Yeah we did wood turning and things like this like candle holders and stuff like that, no this was not sensational at all. But I still did exactly things like the one you just show, the wavy profile and so on but that is what a beginner do. You obviously are much much much better then that.
