Follow along as we walk through a small but important piece of Amber Heard's testimony regarding the alleged December 15, 2015 incident that took place in the couple's L.A. penthouse condo: the bed that Johnny Depp broke/splintered!
Just FYI - this is my first KZfaq video and I know it could use some improvement, but hey - it's a process, right?!?!
~~~~~
Some added context/background: Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for defamation (seeking $50 million) based on statements Heard made in an op-ed in the Washington Post in December of 2018. Heard has countersued Depp for defamation (seeking $100 million) for statements attributed to Depp describing Heard's op-ed and subsequent actions a hoax to gain notoriety. The case was brought in the Circuit Court for Fairfax County, Virginia, which was found to be the appropriate venue because the Washington Post (publisher of the op-ed) is incorporated in Fairfax County.
Chief Judge, Penny Azcarate is presiding over the matter. Depp is represented by Benjamin Chew, Camille Vasquez, and other members of the law firm of Brown Rudnick LLP. Heard is represented by Elaine Bredehoft, Benjamin Rottenborn, and other members of the law firm of Woods Rogers PLC.
So from a Jiu-Jitsu perspective, there is the question of leverage. Amber describes Johnny putting all of his weight into pushing her into the mattress, so much so that she can't move or breathe. By definition, putting all your weight, means all or most of your weight is in one direction. If all of the weight is on the knee pinning the back of a person into the besd, then the other leg, who's boot is trying to get 'purchase' on the bed frame, would have very little force, or weight applied to it. This is similar to the Jiu-Jitsu position 'Knee of belly', which is a controlling position where you put most, or as much weight as you can on your knee on your opponent who is lying down, and your outstretched leg is for balance with little to no weight on it. Any weight you put on the outstretched leg removes weight, or pressure that your knee is applying to your opponent, In short, Amber's description doesn't make sense: You can't hold purchase with pressure to impossibly break the solid timber of a bed frame while simultaneously putting all your weight into your knee to push someone belly down into a mattress so hard that they can't move or breathe and pass out.
A few other details stand out to me to make me not believe this account: 1) the depth of that bed frame was, what... about 18 inches? If he had one foot "standing" on the edge of the frame, how the heck did he have his other knee on her back? I don't think he's that flexible! 2) if JD had really thrown her against the end of that bed, her shins and knees would have been black and blue for a couple of weeks, with good size welts on them. There is no way for her lower legs to miss all that wood if she was thrown against it. 3) I don't think for a moment that if this had been happening to her, she would have been able to focus, at all, on his attempts to balance himself. None of that would have mattered while in the midst of panicking in a life or death situation. She is more full of it that my dog kennel.
I'm a domestic violence survivor, and have worked in the community with many, many other victims of D.V. and have NEVER seen any of them talk about their abuse as Amber does. She tells it in a storytelling, fluffy, overly detailed way, and with crocodile tears, no less. Whenever I, or any other victim has recounted their experience, it's almost as if you're talking to yourself, because you are drawn back into that moment or those instances, and you're no longer really aware or conscious of your surroundings. You're back in that moment. It's "A happened, then B, then C". Period. She rambles and looks at the jury for sympathy, and stops and starts her story to give added detail which nearly anybody knows is a sign of dishonesty. Her testimony seems extremely unreliable and untrustworthy, in my opinion.
@@JD-im2kh I noticed that, too. When I had to depose against my abuser, I didn't eat for a few days leading up to the deposition. I was too scared and nervous, because you're convinced nobody will believe you, and you know you're going to have to re-live every detail by both legal teams. It's nothing short of traumatizing, and she talks about it as if she's acting a script for someone other than herself. It's way too dramatic, pity-mongering, and her crocodile tears are laughable. As a former Military Police Investigator, it bothers me how someone can get up on the stand in a court of law, and blatantly lie to the world, and do it with not a care in the world that what she is saying is morally wrong. All joking aside, she must be, a deeply disturbed person. She lies without a problem, fabricates evidence without a care, and she fakes bodily injuries, without respect to those who really have been hurt. This is so disrespectful to the "me too" movement, and why it exists. This woman has made a mockery of it. I have seen some horrific things responding to domestic disturbance calls, and one thing I know to be 100% true. Based on what she described, she would never have been on a talk show after the beating she described, never. If you add JD's rings, she would have been hospitalized. Not on a talk show the next day. Exactly! Rihanna was in a car for a FEW minutes with limited range of motion by CB, and looked the way she did! Let me just tell you, as someone in the medical profession, the beatings she describes (from a hand with chunky rings) would basically be like brass knuckles. She would most likely have had her orbital bone fractured and probably needed plastic/reconstructive surgery, and jaw wired shut! I’m not even going to go into the nonsense of the Australia event where she describes sliding and slipping on glass with her arms and feet but only has a few linear surface cuts on one arm. And I’m not going into the bottle incident- but I will say- what kind of a person could lie so maliciously about another person the way she has? All of these hit her in the back while she was walking away from him, and she could tell what they were from feeling alone.
How in the actual hell did you hear that! Like you weren’t fighting for your life/survival? I mean, I would personally but you do you girl. Whether it be a therapist that has MPD, a body language analyst, a make up firm or a woodworker, SOMEONE will always be there to completely screw with her story. I just HOPE the jury has the same sense. It is actually a shame that they cant be exposed to all the different experts that are putting their views in. And yes, she takes pictures of a bedframe but not herself? Takes pictures of JD on a gurnee, on the couch passed out but not her injuries? As a structural engineer who has studied failure modes in timber I was gobsmacked by the supposed failure from a boot. I would expect to see localised denting crushing from an impact like a boot. The only way at could happen under impact would be if there was already a failure along that line and the boot basically just knocked it off. But even that doesn't even work because we don't see any fibres that have been pulled down in a shear force perpendicular to the grain at the ends. When she was talking about a broken bed I was expecting to see a bending failure, because that's the only was you could "feel" it, basically collapsing under you.
@TheScotsalan
Yup. I am an engineer, dont know wood, but I do know I=BD cubed /12. And the simple.bending equation sigma Y =MI. ( On phone.. cant find symbols 😂). To apply enough force at the top, to splinter the bottom, given that wood splinters with delta y, actual displacement.. erm.. to achieve that displacement on such a short beam, the joints at the end would fail first. At rough guess.. you could park a 3 ton car on that bed and it would not splinter 😂😂👍. To splinter it, drop a car on it from 3 feet, but the corner joints would fail first, simply cos material CSA 👍
Because the face has so many (blood vessels, nerves, & delicate skin) it is susceptible to reactions upon any pressure. Whether that pressure comes from being hit, running into a wall, the face usually shows an immediate reaction. The greater the force the greater the damage to the tissue. No, I have never seen any person who was hit in the face, other than a LIGHT slap, come away with no damage whatsoever. The attorneys for JD should call medical experts to get this testimony into the trial. @yayplaybikesmtb
If you wanna break it down even further, this also shows the amount of strength amber had to use to even get the knife in there. In your example, you were using raw pine. On the actual bed itself that pine is not only stained but it also looks lacquered, and even waxed. Lacquer and wood wax are amazing especially to use on soft woods. You can get a glass-like shine on wood if you use fine grain sandpaper, wood wax, and some elbow grease. Not only will you bring out a marble smooth surface with a glassy shine, but it will also harden the piece of wood significantly. It’s literally like taking 100 number 2 pencils, standing them straight up and down, wrapping all the pencils in a rubber band and then covering it all in superglue until all 100 pencils are now one piece. This lady is a friggin monster.
The world has been the jury in this case and the world has systematically dismantled Amber Heard's every claim. It's a shame the jury don't have access to the same information we do. We get to see things the jury probably missed, like Amber Heard's reactions seated, etc. I am not optimistic that justice will be done but even so I think JD's name has been cleared irrespective of the outcome. The world knows he is innocent of what Amber Heard has accused him of and she is finished. Her life from this point on will be a misery.
woodworker here, 40 years experience. I can definitely state that IT IS possible to splinter a block of pine with a good quality, solid work boot. However: 1) it would require a significant amount of force. i.e. the person would have to be standing up, putting his whole weight on that boot. cirque du soleil kinda stunt. or the timber was already chipped. unlikely. 2) the boot would have to be slipping downwards at some degree. let's say 45-60 for argument's sake. something like a missed step. 3) the timber's corner would probably hit the shins and hurt the living hell out of the experience. (don't ask how I know) 4) there would be multiple splinters. HANGING from the timber. the pic shows a hell of a clean single cut. that was made with a tool. 100% sure. conclusion: she's full of BS.
Oh! I have questions. I know absolutely nothing about wood but I'm intrigued to learn more. Could someone had thrown summit that is somewhat heavy with a hard edge on it so it cracked? Perhaps standing on the bed or a similar angle. The edge of the bed looked like it had a really sharp edge to it and not a rounded one. Also does the age of the wood matter much if it's easier for it to break? I'm curious bc I had a piece like that cracked from a wood plank on my kitchen floor once with mainly the "big" piece split but barely any small splinters. Really old hardwood floor I believe from when the building was built in -42. They were painted and all that as well. (not by me)
@sammyk7024
@sammyk7024 2 жыл бұрын
@@loveitftw in my experience, yes, hard edges are easier to break. also, the harder the wood, the easier to break. counter-intuitive, I know. anything is possible. different environments have different effects on different woods. lots of variables. from what you describe, I would guess the timber broke along a single vein. probably due to an uneven support for the plank. years of uneven pressure did the rest. could be that particular ring was already weak due to environmental factors during the tree growth. who knows?
When I viewed this picture during the trial, I was not able to see that this was a solid bed. It looked to me like the wood had cracked and the split part was hanging off from the bottom like it broke under weight - like the frame was off the floor and someone stood on it to make it crack in the middle. Seeing the bed frame in entirety has made all the difference in the world of understanding how hard it would be to break this bed under the scenario she described. Thank you so much for pointing this out and clarifying it!! Great observation and great video!!
That zoom in on a shiny object resting in the sheets that looks exactly like a box cutter is an amazing catch. Anyone who’s worked with wood even at an amateur level, which I have, could tell you that a long strip like that doesn’t happen with broad pressure from something like a boot or even a hammer. A hammer blow would splinter on the very edge and have squared edges. I’ve kicked plenty of wood in frustration and never had a long strip like that be the result
It’s INCREDIBLE how she presents herself that week vs. this week. As a survivor of DV it both enrages and terrifies me. Enraging because just as her acting, this performance of how she thinks a survivor would act is both terrible & embarrassing. Terrifying because the possible repercussion of her lying so severely about such horrific abuse, abuse that even though seemingly unimaginable, happens every day. She has now put a black cloud over victim’s coming out, being believed and the possible threat of safety she has put every victim in by lying, it is unforgivable and down right disgusting. My jaw hit the floor when, after hearing Heard tell story after story of Depp’s allegedly terrorizing her with violence and emotional destruction, giving the nickname “monster”, to then look Camille Vazquez in the face, almost in a threatening stance and say “why would I?” When Camille asked “Ms. Heard, you weren’t scared of being caught sending embarrassing photos to your friend?” If I were a juror, it would be over for me. With all due respect, f*ck Amber Heard, for what she’s done for future victims, for her shitty acting and for not donating to sick & dying CHILDREN.
Being a domestic abuse survivor, I appreciate this even more & I'm sure many like me do as well because so much of her testimony/allegations simply just don't stand up or make sense, and that really irritates me when so many other survivors have to deal with not being believed after TRULY surviving domestic violence. Let me preface this by saying that some of her allegations may be true and she may have dealt with domestic abuse, but that is not my place to say or judge as I am not the jury nor was I there..HOWEVER, it in my opinion, by lying/exaggerating/fabricating her testimony, she plays a role in the reason not all true victims are believed instead are accused of making false DV allegations for their benefit (rather that be for notoriety/fame, financial gain, or as a means of revenge). If he was doing both at the same time, both her arms would be free to fight back. She would be limited in her movements being face down but she could grab at the hand on her head, push at the mattress to move her body onto her side to unbalance Johnny, and I'm sure other things to defend herself. If Johnny somehow had her arms pinned with one of his hands, pulling her hair so hard that chunks were coming out would mean her face could not have been in the mattress. The force of the pulling would have had her head back as far as it could go, meaning she could breath, scream, etc. As with so many other things in her absurd and outlandish stories, this just doesn't add up.
@@mattrhodes3963 I had never heard that name before the AH/JD streams. Just Googled it and I think I'll skip that one although I'm sure they covered it very well! It just seems depressing and very specific to the US and their own society issues. If I'm wrong please let me know
@@rigatoni4646 That's my reason as well. I tried watching some bits but the issue itself doesn't seem to interest me. I guess the fact that guns are so instrumental in it also gives me pause. I'm from the Netherlands, where guns have been illegal since maybe even before I was born, and it's just such a huge culture difference. I'd never seen a gun in real life up close until I went to the US for the first time a few years ago and saw a gun stand in a Walmart. I literally froze as I turned the corner of the aisle because I was so shocked. I can't even recall the last time I've consciously seen an actual gun in real life in the Netherlands, the only thing I can think of is mounted police demonstrations (you can come visit and watch them go through their training and stuff). I know that the US culture is entirely different on that point, but it makes it hard for me to understand and empathize with the people involved in the Rittenhouse case. There's just a culture barrier. Meanwhile, a case like this between JD and AH is more 'universal' and less affected by culture differences. Of course Hollywood culture is different from regular people's culture but we've been exposed to Hollywood culture for as long as we can remember, with all the publicity and press and tabloids and stuff. So even if we don't know it from experience, we're familiar with it all over the (western) world.
Even just hearing how violent she claims the attacks were, with no medical evidence of concussions, or major bruising, or even if he's strong enough to throw her around she could've had broken or fractured bones
Some folks have pointed out that given the number of large rings Johnny seems to always wear on both hands, how did she not have more visible bruising and/or injuries requiring emergency medical attention? She should have permanent facial damage (at a minimum!) from those brass knuckles. Not to mention long-term neurological damage from all those blows to the head and neck.
@yos.5684
@yos.5684 2 жыл бұрын
If he had done what she claims, he would have probably suffocated or almost killed her. She would have had massive craneal contusions, fractures or damage on her back, neck, and probably needed to be hospitalised. I do kung fu and self-defence, if you've gotta save your life, sometimes you've got to strike, and I know one fist in the head can be brutal and enough for you to need medical assistance, imagine repeated ones!! Plus if such a sturdy wood was broken because of his punches... well her crane wouldn't be here to tell it.
No amount of weight from a hand or foot will ever break that wood. She did it to the bed herself afterwards with the knife she left in the quilt that she forgot to remove before she took the photo. Honestly, acknowledging her name was the only truth that she came out with in the entire case.
Knew it the second I seen the picture as evidence.. There's no way a booted foot could have done the particular type of damage. It would've made an indentation if anything.. The other issue I have with this photo is the position of it.. If he allegedly had her on the mattress, knee in her back, punching the back of her head and his boot against the frame to "gain purchase".. It would have been on the inside of the frame.. Not the outside of it.. You could take a bat to that frame and it would only leave dents in the wood. Smh..
How would she know that the bed splintered at the time? Among all that shouting, suffocation and her position why did that stand out? Because she’s telling the incident as if she’s reading a script, from a third party perspective. It just doesn’t add up. She was never held accountable for her claims before and it shows. She never thought it will reach this far and it backfired so bad.
From the way she described how brutally JD smashed and throw her around like WWF and she gets a concussion check thru the phone and she show pictures few days later without any swelling/clodging blood from her broken nose is truly amazing. Counselor, thank you for clarifying that segment of her testimony! I hope there is someone on that jury who does woodwork but, even if there isn't, you have shown very clearly that there is no way that wood could have been split on the BOTTOM of the frame unless someone cut it.
