I genuinely like Ann Reardon's videos where she goes into "this hack is dangerous/doesn't work, and here's why". I agree, there's many which uses DEATH CABLES!! (If you don't know what a death cable is it's when you take an extension cord and cut off the end which delivers the electricity and plug it in, never ever do this, if you accidentally touch the ends it WILL KILL you and if it touches a hotdog it cooks it, touches a soda can it explodes, touches a hair spray bottle it explodes into a ball of fire etc)

I'm actually a bit ashamed to say I used to make grilled cheese with an iron. I was a ski bum living in a terrible housing (a single room that was above a restaurant which had a subterranean bar). I ate most of my food at restaurants I worked at, but at home, I would keep things cold using a patch of snow on the roof outside my window, and I had an iron for waxing my skis and snowboards, and also for making grilled cheeses.

Indeed. Also, from my experience, I doubt anyone seeks this out. Its more that the algorithm pushes this crap out. I work in an office. And everyone watches 5-mins crafts and such other content. Not because they searched it. But because it is right there on your Facebook. Folks here use Facebook for work. And its usually lunch time or break time. No one is typing anything. They click on what's right there and let it play while they talk to each other and share lunch. Its just background noise.

Its aimed at kids and teens. Also, its just an aesthetic that works. Just like those low budget animation kids content. Or like EFAP points out regarding YT video essays: "Pretentious put-upon voice, say lot of long words and adjectives, be vague but speak softly so it sounds emotional like you are about to cry, have some editing like mindless transitions, add mindless text on screen for no reason and reference a philosopher, so you sound smart. Its the same with this kind of content... 5 minute crafts, BuzzFeed... Bubble gum candy saturation, over exposed, over edited over produced fruit juice. Its a template. And the algorithm loves it.

Honestly, I was just thinking about how it would make me feel, how it would make my friends feel if someone said it to them, how it could make a *stranger* feel. I'm careful with what I say on the Internet and I make sure I don't say things that could upset people, because not everyone is in a stable state of mind. The smallest thing can tip someone over the edge and cause really bad shit to happen. And people might look fine, but sometimes the people who look happy and fine are crumbling inside. I like the "baubles in the hair" thing unironically. It's just the ugly holiday sweater as a joke concept, but expanded into your hair. If elaborately ugly/gaudy holiday sweaters can work as a niche sort of humor and "fun" then this hair thing would 100% work alongside it. Definitely not a day to day look, but for holiday parties or get togethers or something.

I'm glad Jay is pioneering the "Video making fun of a topic broken up by a seemingly unrelated bits that becomes poignant and relevant in.the conclusion" genre. It's actually really cool seeing the seemingly random humor come together to form a point. It's especially elevated by the fact that sometimes there is just random comedy, like the beans thing. It's all a big mystery, and that makes the thesis of the video all the more satisfying.

3:30 parents might actually have to use needles on their child since alot of medicines you take at home are taken that way. Like, before recently my mom would have to have a needle in her stomach every day for her blood thinner medication. I had to use needles for migrane medicine once a month, and I imagine children suffering from diabetes have to use needles.
