Great review! Definitely looking to replace my existing rack with this rack. Love it! As far as the lock cable is concerned, even if it was long enough, I would never drive with it through the frames. In my experience vibration, wind and post ride dirt/mud will rub paint on any length of cable. I only use my generic lock cable if I am parked at a store and not driving. That's my 2 cents anyway.

I use Heininger's glideAWAY 4-bike carrier on my Escalade with no lift gate clearance issue. The 47-pound rack and glide system is well built and easy to operate. Also, it's typically recommended to load heavier bike closest to the vehicle. 😉

Nice bike rack. Maybe if you just put the outer frame through the lasso then ran the tail through the inner bike would give you enough slack. Some heat shrink on the ferrules you make it complete. Another great video!

If you take the lock through the loop and only go around the frame on the first bike then take the cable through your other bike frame it should be long enough

If you're running tubeless tires on your bike scavenge up a old bike tube and you have a perfect donor for a wrap that you can use to protect your bikes. Nice rack ... I always wanted to say that and not get beaten up for it.

I love my 1up USA bike rack, lighter and works great. I'd also rather support a rack made by a US company, in the US. This is listed as a Japanese company made in Japan, China and some US.

I’ve seen bike racks similar to this and would eventually like to get one, but this one doesn’t seem very secure. I have seen similar that secure further up on the wheels closer to the forks that seem a lot better than this one. Also not to keen on the pin they use to secure it into the hitch. I do like the knob to take the wobble out of the rack

you would need a very long cable to secure the bikes if you have quick release wheels as you would need to put the cable through the wheels also.

I’ve yet to find a rack that outperforms my Thule T2 Pro XTR. If I had to guess maybe Kuat comes close. No side to side bike sway, built in cable locks, zero frame contact and I can take it off-roading without worrying about it falling apart. The Inno might be less expensive but I want a rack that will last longer than my mountain bike. Cheers

ABUS is a bike lock brand that may solve your problem with locking your bikes together. Coated steel bars prevent scratching (and they work like the folding wooden rulers). The locks are sold in various lengths and offer different security levels. This rack is sure easy to use once you have it set up and doesn't take up much space when stored. Good design. Price may be a little high. First time I've seen this rack. Thanks!

Box size targets distribution shelf and palletizing space more than freight charge. Box has to be a lot bigger before it triggers common carrier dimensional weight charges (surcharge based on size and weight, instead of just weight).

Is there a way to adjust for tire height? Looks like the tire holder things might make contact with the frame if you have a 20 inch tire.

I really like my 1Up as well. Built just as well, but lighter since it's made with aluminum. I also prefer the lower position that the 1Up provides because I can open the rear hatch of my Outback with 2 bikes on my rack. I do like the bike locking feature, on this one though. But I use my normal bike cable lock and that works fine.

An idea? What if I were to purchase a 10 or 12 foot bike cable, and after I've mounted both bikes (or one bike) on the rack, what if I threaded the cable through the tire arm clamps, and through both bike frames, pulled the cable tight, and then secured the cable with a lock or using the racks locking mechanism? Because if I threaded a long cable through the tire arm clamps and through the frame of the bikes, and pulled the cable taut before locking it, then the tire arm clamps can't be released without me unlocking the cable, which means the bikes can't be removed as well? And after I've threaded the cable, and to make sure it's tight enough so that the tire arm clamps can't be released, I could wrap any excess cabling around the bike's frame until it's taut before locking it, but not too tight where it would damage the tire arm clamps, but just tight enough that the tire arm clamps can't be released? What do you think?

Still have this rack? You mention the slight play side-to-side in your video; has this motion increased over time? Have you installed this on any other vehicle and if so were you able to completely open the hatch when the bikes were tilted down? Thanks for the great review.

I know you say a longer cable but did you try to choke the cable on your sons bike and run through the frame of your bike? As opposed to choking both bikes like you did in the video.

Oh yeah I would definitely change the cable as well. It’s definitely the sharp edges on that style ferrule. That scratched the paint.

Hello, I was curious on you thoughts on Roof Bike Racks? I have an F150-2019. and I am towing a POP up trailer, and was thinking a dual Hitch, but I thought I might exceed my tongue weight allowance, and have been researching Roof bike racks. I am curious if you've experienced using them? Safe?

I suspect there are at least a couple reasons for the recent bike videos. Lockdowns are making it tough for KZfaqrs to get out to make videos. There has been a big rise in the popularity of biking recently. Given the number of RVers that haul bikes with them, it’s an appropriate topic. Also keep in mind that JD tries to put out a video on a daily basis. I’m guessing that makes it tough to keep things fresh.
