WORCESTER Apparatus Freeze as Firefighters use Tower Ladder to battle 2nd Alarm Blaze

On the evening of 1/20/24, Worcester FAO struck Box 2-07 around 18:50 for a reported building fire at 98 Canterbury St, receiving calls with a report of people possibly still inside the first floor. Engine 2 arrived with smoke showing from a 2 story wood-frame. Car 4 took command and reported heavy fire from the 2nd floor windows and struck a 2nd Alarm. As companies attempted a push, the wind-driven fire began blowing out several more windows and threatening the B-Side exposure. The OIC ordered evacuation tones and companies began to combat the fire with exterior lines, using Ladder 4's stick and Tower Ladder 3's bucket. The temperature in Worcester was 10°, with a wind chill of -3°.
Early into the incident an additional box was struck, box 8-35 for a building at Catherine St and Eastern Ave. While this box was determined to be good intent, Car 2 ordered 3rd Alarm coverage, bringing mutual aid from Auburn and Holden to cover, as companies were also tied up with a car fire on route 146 along with other service calls.

Those hoselines have good pressure. Cali FDs take note. But with the side of the house burned away they should move back a few more yards to stay out of the collapse zone.

I'm glad to see there is a second camera covering these fires besides Udizzy. He can't stand to have his beloved department criticized so he blocks commentors who don't kiss their butts. Hopefully you will be different. 0:50 That water is pretty much accomplishing nothing. No Line of Sight on the burning material. Have they made entry at another location? 1:20 More Fountain Statue Firefighting. How much water does one spot need? 1:40 Get off your butts and go find the burning material and Then apply water to it. 2:40 All that water and the fire still rages. 4:15 Fountain Statues not firefighters. Do you know how Worcester is now preventing LODDs? They aren't doing anything other than being Fountain Statues while the city burns. 6:30 When the flames are turned off, that's when you get off your butts and move to a different location. You surgically apply water; you don't just squirt it.

I’m a big fan of the quote “I may not like what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it”. So while no, I’m not gonna sensor any comment, I encourage you to remember the camera will never tell you the full story of everything going on, and why certain command/operations decisions are made.

@@857firephoto I don't Need to Be There. I can see just fine and my 50 years of dealing with people in the work force tells me what I am dealing with. Do you realize that Worcester Firefighting tactics are responsible for "Needlessly" killing 9 firefighters? I critiques performance, I don't just make idyll comments.
