Goddamn, was this mind blowing! Not only are you developing this insanely slick production system, you're also doing it with relatively affordable equipment in your _home basement..!_ How much longer until the era of the homemade (professional quality) video game/anime/feature film artist is reborn..?

This is so cool! Excited to see Epic branching out. 👍🏽 Wii balance board to move around with the cam attached underneath to the floor or nearby desk with a steady arm would work well for movement esp. if you have experience skiing, skate or snow boarding.

This is giving me some diabolical ideas which I simply must try! A second in-engine camera with a much wider field of view, locked to the position of the keyed subject and facing in the opposite direction of the primary camera. That camera's view could then be output to a cheap, heavily diffused projector to produce accurate foreground lighting at all times.

Interesting area to be involved in. I see so many opportunities to make things more seamless & natural that as a programmer & hardware dev id love to get my paws on. From creating smart lighting that always maps between real world and engine types via the correct mixes in each, to smarter movement that understands what you're trying to do and makes slight changes to keep speed where you wish whilst smoothing it's delta over the long term and it's delta, but allowing for change instantly so you can never argue with what it does...like improved smoothing....urgghh...badly explained. Great vid

What's the difference between the vive trackers and upcoming mars camtrack?
@gidkideon
@gidkideon 4 жыл бұрын
Do you have the ability yet to live track two or more actors faces, and have the live feed (face texture) and basic mocap of the face and use that on models in real time in unreal? Then also putting a cam in unreal on each virtual actor’s head in unreal so you can send that feed from their unreal scene perspective back to them. It could be fairly lo-fi if the intention was to allow actors who eventually might be shot live together to at least practice lines and dialogue. This would be esp. helpful if the budget is tight and you want to not waste production time on them hitting lines, rewrites on set etc when you want final takes etc.

Do you need higher end cameras like the Ursa mini 4k because it has Clean 10bit & 12bit out but out oorrr because it is 10bit & 12bit out into i assume a capture card like the one black magic sells. Asking because i have a BMPCC the OG Pocket and i wanted to know if i can use it similarly here. I don't have those pcie capture cards but i do have the Black Magic h.264 encoder which has only usb 2 😆 but it's what i got 😆 🤣 😂

4:27 these are not the sensors. These basestations work very similarly to real lighthouses. The sensors are in the tracking pucks and head mounted display themselves. (This is an important distinction because of privacy, and because it's nice that the base stations only need power)
