Lara Gavina moved from Italy to Skellefteå, Sweden. She works at North Kingdom, a global Experience Design Studio with customers such as Google and Lego. It takes her 3 minutes to get to the office. The work life balance in northern Sweden is outstanding!

I was born and raised in Skellefteå, but moved away for a total of 18 years. But about 2 years ago I decided I wanted to return home for good, which feels like the best decision I ever made. :)

Yes, that’s really interesting. Have seen that a lot during my studies in Sweden with other international students 😄 I think her englisch wasn’t thaaat good before and basically your brain gets used to the Swedish dialect of English. And I would really call it a dialect and not accent, since they speak near perfect English and seem to have changed some words permanently. Because every swed says them „wrong“ the same way.

Italy is over guys. Factories are not hiring anymore, because job agencies has totally overwhelmed the jobs market. They hire you just for a short time experience, legally they can keep you maximum 6 months with the same agency. Then sometimes you pass by to another branch of the same agency, but the factories are overwhelmed with taxes. In order to pay you 1200€/month (which is around a good average salary), they gonna spend more than 4000€/month for you (insurance, retirement fund, other expenses). This is the reason why so many italians must move abroad. Italy is packed with unused buildings, empty offices and shops, especially into the city centres. In sinthesys: taxes upon emplyers are too high and setting a business is too expensive aswell. Italy is gonna be packed of underutilized buildings, and the cost of apartments is really decreasing (apart the major 6-8 cities). The salaries are really less than 1200€ expected. In some parts of south italy they can really be lower than 700€/month. You can’t do any family plans with this situation. And mainly because the economy doesn’t circle as expected: the rich get richer, and the others are fucked. Overall, the public sector just steal public money, and the stupid workers must pay taxes for everyone. And yes: the main companies like Fiat, Ferrero and others, they are not fiscally based in italy. They have official setup into Netherlands, Switzerland or other countries. And the mental approach of italians is getting really close-minded over the years, the old don’t have resourses to risk for new businesses or helping young to set for their own future. Guys, only the rich can have a family with kids in italy. I have started working into McDonalds as cashier, when i was 18 in 2006, and i have seen working conditions getting worse and worse so far. The italian economy is over.

You will probably find plenty of opportunities in the northern university town of Umeå, or Luleå for example. Experience in big data is always sought-after in general, but if you want something in particle physics you are more likely to find work down south, in Stockholm and Gothenburg for example.

I'm a local police officer (15 yrs of job experience) in Milan, Italy, my wife is a primary school teacher, we have 3 children, i wonder if there are job opportunities for someone with our work background. I'm also a certified cook. What's the best way to start looking for job opportunities over there? Is it necessary to have a migration agent? Great series, keep spreading good vibes❤️😍✌️

And then you want to go to the cinema, or to a museum, or to the theatre, or to dinner in a Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai/Brazilian/Italian/Spanish restaurant and you realize that you should travel at least 1000km to do so... Sounds beautiful, but how many days of sun (I mean, no cloudy) and regular weather do you have per year? What about the winter? How is it? What's the average temperature? For holidays I'm pretty sure that should be amazing, but to live... I don't know... the city must provide more than beautiful nature and loneliness. Coming from a metropolis I think this calmness should kill me hahaha And Italy being busy? Apart from Rome, Milan, Naples and maybe Turin, Italy looks pretty much like that (apart from the international work opportunities and good salary)

Regarding the comparison with Italy, I think you need to compare apple to apple, for instance big cities with high density and lots of entertainments at close range, together with job opportunities in the services sector….vs outer provinces, lower density areas with closer nature (hills, woods, fields, sea…) but mostly industry, manufacturing, artisans & industries, and definitely less close range services and the variety that a bigger city may offer. So I guess it depends on what one’s own preference is.

@@danieleallois4633I'm italian, I have been living in Italy all my life, so I think I know the country a little more than you. In the region where I live towns are so closed to each other that you cannot even tell where one ends and the other begins. That' s why you cannot really compare It to a low population density country such as Sweden.

It seems almost bucolic, but I find it rather pointless as a promotion video, since it doesn't speak at all about information services, opportunities, real life routines and standards and so on. It simply shows a pill of an average IT emplyee in a company in a province... which could be England, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Germany... wherever. Just a lucky case, for a lucky girl. There are ten of tousands of similar cases worldwide. I don't think she would be that happy working in a backery or in a production factory, for example... A rather partial, biased and unfunctional video, IMMO. Many comments propose legitimate questions and remarks... all devoid of answers. And she comes from Bruxelles... which already speaks enough in terms of working elitarism, at least for Italians. By the way, I live in Tokyo sonce more than 20 years and my experience is completely different from that of other thousands foreigners living here... good or bad is subjective.
