I loved this video. My wife just got me the 2022 Master Geographic to commemorate 33 years of cancer remission, 3 years in memory of my Mom, and a significant milestone at work. This is my grail watch as I love GMT complications and I love the art , dedication, and craftsmanship that goes into making it. The video showing how they make it blows my mind.

I love JLC. I have twelve of them in my collection - and wear them with equanimity. My favorites are the vintage LeCoultre pieces from the ‘embargo’ years, along with the DuoTime and the Reverso Duo from 1949.

Regardless of the subject, I like all Mr.Porter videos. Narration, Camera angels, Editing, Background music are just perfect and I am so attracted to their refined way of presentation.

A superb video, I love how you showed a collection instead of just 1 watch, i think a portfolio approach like that is interesting. Personally if I were to go all JLC, I would go one level higher with and choose these 3 instead: 1) "Master Control Perpetual in SS", the size and thinness is awesome and not hugely more expensive than the Geo but a "superior" complication in many ways, practical for daily life. 2) "JLC Polaris Memovox", since Memovox is a hugely iconic JLC complication I feel you must have one. 3) "Reverso Tribute Fagliano Pink Gold", for the special occasions and also to differentiate and bring it up a notch, pink gold will work wonders.

My god, I love JLC. I have decided my next luxury watch will be the JLC Reverso. This is the one brand that has the "it" factor.

thanks for this review. Great watches but too bad the Polaris has only 40 hours power reserve. I expect more from JLC. The reverso is stunning. I tried it on a few months ago. I was torn between the medium or the large version. The reverso is high on my wishlist.

Prices are 12k for the first, 7k for the second, and 9k for the third. All in all, close to 30k for all three. That's like "infinite budget" for most people.

Yes, please do more of these with different brands, and things like shoes, or bags or jackets.

The toughest watch of all 3 is the regular reverso. Manual wind, no complications. And a Steel back.

As a man, I embrace minimalism. It comes naturally to our gender. I would even make the argument that a man really only needs 1 time piece that can fulfill all 3 categories. Work, play, formal. I say this from experience. Good video all the same.

Almost the perfect collection. I would swap the Polaris for a Memovox. The Polaris is a bit of a disappointment at a large 41mm and only 100m water resistance with only 40 hr power reserve. Even a Black Bay 58 does better. I own the 1st generation Reverso Duoface and a 1950s Memovox Worldtime. I think the original Duoface looked better. The white dial on the original looks more classic art deco Reverso and the dark face side has a beautiful hand-chased guilloche and hobnail pattern. It was also very good value in the pre-owned market.The Memovox is probably the best underappreciated complication money can buy. The alarm functionality is infinitely more useful than say a minute repeater and relatively better priced. You can buy vintage Memovoxes for less than $3000 which is just amazing for the inhouse technology you are getting at that bargain price point. As for the Master Geographic, I almost pulled the trigger on it but purchased a mid 2000s Rolex Polar Explorer II instead, as it doubled as a GMT and weekend watch, replacing the need for the Polaris, which I believe is positioned poorly in JLC's sports watch catalogue. The only JLC remaining on my wishlist is the Tribute 1931 with the Fagliano leather strap.

Just get a JLC Geophysic 1958 Limited Edition and call it a day. That piece is perfect for every and any occasion. Accurate, robust, versatile, 100m WR, and beautiful. Literally can be a “one and done” kind of timepiece.
