This was such a cool vlog! Thanks for taking us behind and on the scenes! Regarding imposter syndrome, I still struggle with it, but sometimes it helps when I remind myself just how insignificant whatever is stressing me out is in the grand scheme of the universe-- I don't mean for that to sound negative in any way- It just helps me put things in a healthier perspective so I don't become too obsessive (when I remember to pause and actually think about things, hehe).

Thanks so much! That’s a really helpful tip. Thinking that way helps me too, I just need to remember to do it more often! 😅

I can relate to the imposter syndrome, but I guess I more often identified with the old story of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” Great video!

Omg I love this episode! You actually really motivate me to go practise. And what Ross said about about the accents on the main notes is SUPER helpful for me too! I have to play some la la land stuff with string quartet this Friday and just like you I’m a classically trained musician so I struggle with jazz and swing. I will keep in mind what Ross said. And good luck with your audition and RESPECT for preparing for an audition while having a day job, gigs and teaching!!! Auditions are the most stressful experience but then again it’s what makes our lives exciting isn’t it?! All the best and AWESOME video ❤

EVERYBODY....... HANNAH'S BACK! ALRIGHT!!!! Thank you soooooooooooooooo much for sharing your talents with me again this past Monday night at The Green Room 42. Brava!!! You're on your way to keep yourself as a FULL OUT MUSICIAN. You're a wonderful person. Play with so much heart and soul. Love sharing the stage with you and the girls!! A true ALL STAR every step of the way. You got this!! Always down for a cameo. Can't wait to keep doing more of this show. Lot of new cabaret ideas that I'm gonna start journaling & writing this year too, Really proud of you Hannah. Like I said to you in rehearsals, it's all about versatility.... always great as artists that we have our HOME BASE focus and then the secondary stuff in between. It makes you well rounded shows you can do so many things. Classical is your home base and then you got Jazz and Musical Theater as the secondary. For me as a singer what's been really cool is that being in Musical Theater myself, I was introduced to all genres and styles from it. Now adding saxophone and clarinet myself now, that adds another part of the "quadruple threat" side of me..... especially there are those Musical Theater shows where the ACTORS double as THE ORCHESTRA in some cases. Even some of my actor friends also have done some pit stuff in between which would be fun to try. Imposter Syndrome, I get it all the time. It's part of all of us as artists. It's that feeling of looking like the heroes we are inspired by, learning from them, and believe that's the way it's supposed to go. Even when I mess up on something, it does get frustrating and then I find myself wanting to be a CARBON COPY of Ben Platt, Josh Gad, Mickey Rooney, Rick Moranis, or any of my other musical heroes I look to as a performer. I can do similar things and honor them but it's hard sometimes to put your spin on a song. The one thing I still want to keep getting better as is reminding myself that I'M ME and I'm an original. THE ORIGINAL MICHAEL I. HABER..... Hahaha. Even when I'm auditioning, I go in the room and do the best 110% that I can but then still no calls from casting..... not even a callback or getting the job. The one thing that drives me crazy about this business is when casting directors don't even call and DON'T give us at least feedback on that audition so how can I improve the next time. I'm also learning on how to ACCEPT screw ups more..... even if I mess up in rehearsal or accidentally on stage, it's OK. Believe me, I messed up a few times on Monday night but it's great at the end because the audience has their own special show. Good reminders to have about those...... if you ever saw Idina Menzel, she f***s up all the time onstage during her concerts and she's so humorous about them. Also Jeremy (our orchestrator) also sent me a funny video after Dress Rehearsal which you need to check out. The great Leslie Uggams did this infamous performance at the National Memorial Day Concert in DC back in the 90's. She was singing JUNE IS BUSTIN' OUT ALL OVER (from CAROUSEL). For the live TV audience, she had to sing with cue cards off camera. However, this one performance, it rained so hard that the cue cards got SOAKED on the grass and blew away in the wind. She did this hilarious improv scat to fill the parts with the missing words and made up a whole language on the spot to keep going with the song. Such a class act. Check that video out if you can. Awesome video Hannah!!! YOU ROCK!!!!

That’s how you grow by learning and practice. Ballet dancers get coach by masters before performances to correct and improve.

Hi Hannah 👋 I'm happy to see your video and you're definitely very busy! I have Zero musical knowledge but I'm wondering why is it a bit hard for someone trained in classical music to play jazz? And vice versa ! What do you mean by " Impostor Syndrome?" Listening to you practice.., you sound very good!🍒 I'm glad you're doing what you love most... 🌼🌷

Hi! It’s not necessarily that jazz is harder for me because I’m trained in classical, but rather because I don’t have as much training in jazz. The styles are very different and require different skills from one another. 😊 From Psychology Today on imposter syndrome: “People who struggle with imposter syndrome believe that they are undeserving of their achievements and the high esteem in which they are, in fact, generally held. They feel that they aren't as competent or intelligent as others might think-and that soon enough, people will discover the truth about them.”

@@therealhannahlee Thanks for explaining why it can be hard to transition from one form of music to another !! From my standpoint, you sound very good in the jazz rehearsals! 🍒 Please Don't let the " Impostor Syndrome" take hold ... !!! Your musical career is on track and your dreams are coming true ..You established yourself here, and you did it all by yourself! 🌸 I was not familiar with some of what you're talking about, but you have expanded my horizon and knowledge! 🤗 Now, I'm going to impress folks in my building and when they ask me " How did you learn this ? "... I reply " I just happen to know a real life Broadway musician !! " 🐻🌹🍎 👍
