This video goes over everything about the recently released MAP CONTROLLER device! And a bit on the MAP INDICATOR device too. This will teach you how to stand-out in your MINIMAP game and how to change the minimap itself by importing minimap textures.

Great tutorial! Im glad I found your channel because I was looking for a battle bus tutorial, and yours was the easiest (I am struggling with it though, since it glitches out a lot) And also to note that since map indicators dont let you customize the font or how the text looks on the map, you can simply edit the png file and add the poi names on there to make them look fancy!

Its definitely buggy and broken right now. I have some plans for how to use this in fairly unconventional ways in the near future so i'll try to see what I can do with it, maybe even potentially fix it if the problem is with a component that we can replace. I have to go in and and see whats allowed and what isn't though, just in looking at the unrealscript for the device object it wasn't super clear how it actually used the component ("map anchor") to do what it was donig but if you have any insight that may help feel free to drop me some knowledge and i'll let ya know how it goes when i get around to it.

From what I can tell though its just a camera that gets added to a picture in picture widget. So maybe some potential in there for shenanigans that may allow us to do other things with it or at least fix it

when i use the map controller my minimap just turns all blue... i did what you did in the video??? can you help plz and last but not least great video

It's slightly bugged right now if I can remember. You can't capture a map image plus there's just a ton of other bugs right now too. It might be part of the ever growing list of them. The only real thing I can think of that might be the problem is you may have your map controller upside down so it's capturing the sky instead but I don't really know.

I tried doing what you did, but whatever way I edit the map controller height or anything, my minimap is always black for the preview and it glitches all the time for the preview

The map controller has a lot of bugs right now. Im not even sure if you capture a map image anymore. But if you can, try to get that image it shows. Then inside the controller put that in as a custom image AND right click that image in the content browser, then make a material out of it, then put that material into the device. That may fix it being black in game. If it's black in the editor, Im not really sure.

With the newest update capture map image is gone either they did it on purpose or it’s a bug

I made a custom skybox using a sphere. Is there a way to not capture the sphere in the minimap. It just makes it look like a big white circle on the map

In the outliner, go find the sphere that you are using for your skybox, hover over it and press the little eye icon on the left. That should hide the sphere/skybox, if you then do what I did at 13:00 and capture the map image. You should have the map without the circle in an image in your files, import that and then put that into the controller's custom texture section. Then afterwards re-enable the visibility of the sphere in outliner by clicked the little eye again which will make the skybox visible again and that should hopefully work.

Is there a way to capture image without cloud coverage? Thanks for your help on the battle bus video btw!

Get a day sequence device and check the cloud option on, and for good measure set the cloud coverage to 0 to make sure. That should get rid of the volumetric clouds.

Mine doesnt work whenever i load in it gives me the default crappy tiny map

Make sure you have activate automatically and enabled on game start on. Or have it enabled and activate for player/all through events. And all your team/class settings are correct. That should fix it.
