WORKING giant clock tower in NEW update!

Hey everyone! I recently made this cool clock tower in vanilla Minecraft. I took heavy inspiration from this from McMakeistein, cause he uses Minecraft code to add animations and functionality to cool builds. Plus with the introduction of the block display, the time could not have been better (get it, time, because of the clock, hahahaha)
Anyways I hope you enjoy it, this one took a while to make. It’s hard to make any progress on videos during the semester 🙁

@@Satwr they probaly would switch there server version to new versions if it wasn't for certain factors such as pre-1.9 combat, server performance, and quite a few more. Edit: just remembered that 1.8.9 combat is possible in newer versions just they have to use shields instead.

@@goobertnelius Yes they are stuck on 1.8 for the combat changes aswell as the performance changes and factors. If Mojang can do and make the performance of the current updates,they can update.

Hypixel runs on the latest version of Minecraft and uses ViaVersion for backwards compatibility. It _is_ possible, but will only work on newer versions.

@@DanTDMJace Its totaly the opposite of what you said. First,ViaVerson is not capable of backwards compatibility and to reach the compatibility of a 5 year old version like 1.8 they need to use ViaRewind plugin which is not that stable and can cause many problems or issues. Second,it is totaly opposite,most of the servers that they host run on 1.8 but use ViaVersions plugin to make compatibility with the newer versions.Idk about all the ports or side-servers(some lobbies,game servers) of hypixel though as they may well run in some of the latest versions.

I would like to see a follow up where you decorate the inside, perhaps you could even include a download for that as an option. So you can have furnished and unfurnished builds available.

@@Roako a tutorial would be nice because I tried playing around with the rotation transformation and I can get it partially working but a good explanation would be beneficial if I want to make good use of smooth rotation.

@@DumpsterFireDev The funny thing is that I don't know how the rotation works either. I just rapidly teleport it because the rotation transformation scales the display for some reason?? I would also like a tutorial on how to do that ;-;

@@Roako I noticed that scaling issue and it really sucks! I have found a few numbers that allow me to rotate blocks 90 degrees but for any other rotation I have nothing! I hope we can both figure this out soon! Also clock and compass display entities do not change their texture so I couldn't cheese your clock tower by making a giant clock item ):

Just wondering, did you do the timelapse of building in 1.19.3 (or earlier) bc replay mod isnt out yet for 1.19.4

Yea, I recorded those shots in 1.19.3 for that reason. That's why the opening to the video is not using the replay mod, because I wanted to show the hands of the clock moving, which wouldn't be possible in 1.19.4 :/

They're entities so yes, they cause lag. But i'd imagine probably less lag because block displays are specifically made to display blocks
