Working ground on our upstate New York dairy farm. Disking with a John Deere 635 pulled by a John Deere 4555. This ground was a corn field and is going to be corn again. #farming #dairyfarm #tillage #agriculture #johndeere

As you were going down the road I was thinking your hay fields look almost ready to cut. It's actually starting to get a little dry in our neck of the woods now. All that rain seems to be going south and east of us. If you believe the weather "experts" in our area they are saying a hot and very dry summer is in store for us. I think we are baling all of our first cutting. Chopping second and third. If we're lucky we will have hay to sell. Watermelon, I like that name.

We've been getting a lot of rain here and the grass has definitely taken off. We'll be making hay in no time. Why my son named her Watermelon I have no clue but she is a great cow

Have you ever thought about putting a roller behind the disk? Might save a trip with the roller harrow. I know you have a good roller harrow, but fuel isn't cheap, and you may save time as well. Great video, good to see some sun. Not getting much in VA this week.

Hopefully the sun makes its way back to New York. Been raining a lot. I haven't really thought about putting a roller behind the disk. I know what you mean about fuel savings but we already have the roller harrow

I drove down from MN to IA yesterday and got some excellent whiffs of freshly turned earth as farmers prepped fields and planted. Saw one couple on their hands and knees behind the first planter swath checking depth, etc.

I understand farming and its trials. That 45 with duals and a roller would skip a pass. You have horsepower and duals would take less with a smoother ride. I work at a farm [1975] that mow board plowed then run a cult mulcher then planted. Precision with mow board. Hard. Duals made a world of difference. Love your content and don't want to be offensive.

So you are planting corn on the same field as last year?
@mikep7810
@mikep7810 Ай бұрын
Yes, When we turn over a piece of sod ground and plant corn in it we plant corn in it for 2-3 years to really break down the sod. All of our river ground we rotate between corn and soybeans yearly
